Don't forget that LONG before the pilgrims arrived,the indigenous peoples of America celebrated the Harvest ! Giving thanks was already an important part of their cultures.
Amazing you two are magic together, and I’m very excited for advent. I think if you want to harvest bay leaves for winter you need to hang them upside down . I tried to do it right side up last year and they all turned brown and fell apart creating a little mess to clean up. I didn’t get to them in time this year 😢 so will have to buy them. Spiders don’t like them so I keep little bowls of them in places they like to hide, grow big and have lots of babies. I’m okay with them if they stay in high corners where I can see them but if they come down that’s it, out in the cold with them. I hope your lovely decorations last until the day, you did a beautiful job, wish I could be there. Thanksgiving was last month here so its nice to see another celebration. 🥰🙋🏼

I am a Canadian, and yes, we do celebrate Thanksgiving Day, but in October not the US one on last Thursday in November. It's not a big deal here as in the US, certainly only the people with Anglo-Saxon background make an effort. That is why, I am so surprised that there is a Thanksgiving celebration at the Chateau, since no one is an American there. The US tradition has a very important historical background that does not transplant into any other country, not in Canada, next door, let alone in France.

I’m American (Texas) and an avid history buff (hence my SM name) but I’ve sadly not prepared nor properly celebrated our traditional Thanksgiving so beautifully, creatively or meaningfully! I always learn so much from you! As always, Thank you for another great vlog!
The decor is exciting, but to me it’s all about the food. We are really sauce and pie intensive. Apple sauce, cranberry sauce, Italian plum sauce. Pecan pie, sweet potato pie, apple pie, and crimson pie, (cranberry and blueberry spiked with a spirit.) I grew up with that Spode. I hope you enjoyed. It’s going to be quiet this year. Stay safe and healthy.
I love Thanksgiving! In Canada, we celebrate it in October which for us is perfect! It's right in Autumn and before Halloween! My favourite time of year. In November we rest before the holidays begin in December 🙂

I love everything about Thanksgiving. The family coming together. The turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pies. And watching classics like The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
Post millennium the schools still have it. The students were told to bring one can food. They named the day as mufti day. I think. Good to see Michael.. just saw him yesterday on the Tele rerun of escape to the chateau.. at chateau de la motte de Husson first wedding event. Stephanie you can cut the pumpkins into cubes size.with or without skins best leaves some skin so it won't get too mushy. ..simmer for four or five mins then pour in semi or full cream milk until it covers the pumpkin.add a table spoon of tumeric powder, a tabspoon of ginger paste..or powder. Do add aubergine, french bean, Brussels sprouts cut in half or quartered. Separately: Sauté onions lots of onions until caramelized then add garlic..add a tabsp of ginger paste, finally add smoked fish fillet.. or smoked seafood or one can of anchovies.also add chilli powder or chopped chillies. Then add ingredients into the milky broths. Simmer gently..Add one bunch of finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and stalks. Or can add freshly chopped thyme. If used anchovies, taste before add salts. If you want can also add prawns too. Or chicken meat. Can serve on with rice, any type of noodles or pasta. Or you can boil and mush it. Then add equal measure of wheat flour. Eg Two cups of wheat flour two cups of boiled mashed pumpkins Two cups of milk One cup of sugar or brown sugar Three eggs One tabspoon of vanilla flavour. 50 GM of butter Some sesame seeds if you have. Mixed everything except the sesame seeds and the mashed pumpkin. Then add the mashed pumpkin. Grease the pan with butter or cooking oil. Pour the mixture the sprinkle the sesame seeds on top or any seeds such as pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds.. Bake in preheated oven of 200 celcius. Depending on the oven best check in between after 15 mins with a stick to see the internal is set. Some prefer to steam. But bake is nice. Japanese style:Boil two cup of pumpkins with skins on.. until soft when the water almost reduced pour in a mixture of two tabspoon of ginger,half a cup of soya sauce, half a cup of sugar ,one tea spoon of salt..and half a cup of vinegar. Let it reduced further..(mix the ingredients and taste what do you prefer to add more before pouring into the pot) Then removed the pumpkin and sprinkle finely chopped spring onions.. can be your main or starter. The autumn pumpkins known to be a bit watery so need to factor that in..when cooking or baking .. Or roast pumpkin, mash pumpkin, stewed or pumpkin soups. All are nice.. instead of using cream use the the stock broth.. Just good to add some ginger when cooking ...to balance some yin and Yang... It's a cool vegetable...so some might get some extra 💨🙊 ..

My family lived in England in the early 1980s and we had to do a lot of adapting to approximate an American Thanksgiving then-- the main thing I remember is that there just wasn't a good substitute for cranberry sauce!

I spent a weekend at Leighton Buzzard in England...the house was built in 1000...as a schoolhouse..next door was the cathedral, the walls were lined with fruits and veggies for the fall festival.

I love Thanksgiving! In Canada, we celebrate it in October which for us is perfect! It's right in Autumn and before Halloween! My favourite time of year. In November we rest before the holidays begin in December 🙂

Post millennium the schools still have it. The students were told to bring one can food. They named the day as mufti day. I think.

Stephanie you can cut the pumpkins into cubes size.with or without skins best leaves some skin so it won't get too mushy. ..simmer for four or five mins then
pour in semi or full cream milk until it covers the pumpkin.add a table spoon of tumeric powder, a tabspoon of ginger paste..or powder. Do add aubergine, french bean, Brussels sprouts cut in half or quartered.
Separately:
Sauté onions lots of onions until caramelized then add garlic..add a tabsp of ginger paste, finally add smoked fish fillet.. or smoked seafood or one can of anchovies.also add chilli powder or chopped chillies.
Then add ingredients into the milky broths. Simmer gently..Add one bunch of finely chopped fresh coriander leaves and stalks.
Or can add freshly chopped thyme.
If used anchovies, taste before add salts.
If you want can also add prawns too. Or chicken meat.
Can serve on with rice, any type of noodles or pasta.
Or you can boil and mush it. Then add equal measure of wheat flour. Eg
Two cups of wheat flour
two cups of boiled mashed pumpkins
Two cups of milk
One cup of sugar or brown sugar
Three eggs
One tabspoon of vanilla flavour.
50 GM of butter
Some sesame seeds if you have.
Mixed everything except the sesame seeds and the mashed pumpkin.
Then add the mashed pumpkin.
Grease the pan with butter or cooking oil.
Pour the mixture the sprinkle the sesame seeds on top or any seeds such as pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds..
Bake in preheated oven of 200 celcius.
Depending on the oven best check in between after 15 mins with a stick to see the internal is set.
Some prefer to steam. But bake is nice.
Japanese style:Boil two cup of pumpkins with skins on.. until soft when the water almost reduced pour in a mixture of two tabspoon of ginger,half a cup of soya sauce, half a cup of sugar ,one tea spoon of salt..and half a cup of vinegar. Let it reduced further..(mix the ingredients and taste what do you prefer to add more before pouring into the pot)
Then removed the pumpkin and sprinkle
finely chopped spring onions.. can be your main or starter. The autumn pumpkins known to be a bit watery so need to factor that in..when cooking or baking ..
Or roast pumpkin, mash pumpkin, stewed or pumpkin soups. All are nice.. instead of using cream use the the stock broth..
Just good to add some ginger when cooking ...to balance some yin and Yang...
It's a cool vegetable...so some might get some extra 💨🙊

Such a lovely table and a cozy fire-- I can't wait for the Advent vlogs-- what a treat! My family lived in England in the early 1980s and we had to do a lot of adapting to approximate an American Thanksgiving then-- the main thing I remember is that there just wasn't a good substitute for cranberry sauce!
