I have never commented on a RUclips video before...but, WOW - I just had to - the last 8 minutes about you guys speaking about God's plan for you, being stewards of the land, creating a legacy while acknowledging that you may be creating someone else's dream / legacy. Good for you guys...seriously...the world needs more people like the two of you!

Yes to this! I was just getting discharged with our farm and husband telling me he did not see us living here forever.... I was shocked and didn't want to continue all the hard work. But hearing this opened my eyes.

I just love what you guys said about building a legacy for anyone who comes along after you, not just for your immediate family.
I'm developing my single acre of land into a teeny little microfarm and I'm building off of other people's legacies who have tended this land before me with great love and dedication. They planted fruit trees and now I'm harvesting from what they planted. They built outbuildings that I use now. Just the other day I was digging up a new area to turn into planting beds and I uncovered a bunch of sweet little craft projects that might be 50 or 60 years old, for all I can tell--cement plaques covered with kids' handprints and names and one with blue glass set into it that says "Mom." Nature reclaimed these sweet memories of a prior family that lived here, and I rediscovered them, and instantly felt the love and commitment that family put into the property that is now mine to care for.

I'm looking 60 years on this Earth dead in the face. I've started over many times already. I actually cherish each and every fresh start. Sometimes it does make you feel exhausted just to think about starting over, but then you do start and it is invigorating. OH! The possibilities! And armed with the knowledge gained from before, you do it better and better each time. I'm getting to the time of my life where such reinvention and renewal is most precious. I hope you two lovely young folk have many more fresh starts to come. I hope you can savor and embrace them. I think you can and will. Bless you and your family.

This comment was what I needed to hear this morning.. I homestead-ed my heart through the mudd here in Tennessee .. my first flock of 16 hens and 4 Roosters found lifeless in their coop... my baby boy Rooster (the Prince) was the only one to survive seeing as he always broke out away from the flock at night to roost on the roof. The older Rooster Senior Pyschock ...well he never was even found or seen again.. all the others just lay in piles of feathers. No blood. Just bodies.
I still blame myself for getting in too deep, not financially speaking but emotionally. Anyone can leave the gate unlocked but I still cannot eat chicken that I seen prepared. And I’m a fatty. Idk of my heart never hardened from becoming a real parent or if I’m just not suitable for having that many living creatures rely on my ability to latch the gate behind myself. :/

Rachel Murray You made a mistake, neglected a task. An important task. Get over it. You are human. It happens. No time for pity parties, only time for owning and learning from your mistakes. Bet you don’t repeat it. You have choices. Keep growing and learning, or just give up. For me, it hurts more to give up. I’m feeling it’s the same for you. Moving forward from this doesn’t mean you don’t care. It doesn’t mean you have a heart of stone. It means you are a work in progress. The operative word being progress. Don’t let all those little lost lives be in vain. Make each and every one of those lives serve a worthy purpose. Learning to be a caring, responsible, knowledgeable steward of your small corner of this world is a worthy goal. Producing and feeding yourself and your family wholesome food is a worthy and honorable endeavor. You and your family are worthy people that deserve this. Honor the plants and animals that feed you by living honorable lives filled with worthy endeavors. Anyway, that’s how I look at it. I hope things improve for you.

Salvaged from my 3 -generation flock) take those beautiful gems and make a big dream catcher or anything I want but just make the best of what I have left of that legacy and move the **** on with my one Prince......:
...The one Prince who’s been integrated into a friends flock for the time being. They of course told us to take our time -our Boy would be ready to come back home if/when we was ready to start anew.
Even said he’d donate whichever favorite lady friends our young man happens to make.
Lord ...my little boy’s probably done become a man by now. :O
      I think I’ll go make myself a drink. It’s 5 o’clock.
AM/ PM was never specified! :/

Made me think of “This world is not my home, I’m here but for a moment...”

I am older than you and 10 years ago we moved onto our dream place. I have worked as hard as I can to make it the place we can leave to our grandchildren but your comment about leaving a legacy for someone really struck home with me. I wish I could do everything I want but due to several back surgeries I am slow at getting things done but by the grace of God it is changing to the place that is my current dream.

Okay, I've admired you two since the beginning of this year, which made me start my first large backyard garden. I have fallen in love with tomatoes (that I literally hated the taste before) while learning from your daily vlogs. Now I learn you also are into 'rescue horses' from the slaughter farms. That is one of my most important passions!🐎❤🙏 You unexpectedly put me into tears when I saw and heard what you are doing for these beautiful creatures from God😢😢❤🐎🙏🙏🙏 Love you guys so much. So much respect to you. It's been such a horrible year with losing my sister in January but you both have been able to direct my sadness and steer it towards something positive and promising. Even though it was just about food, there was something else there that has pulled me out of my sadness and is helping me not feel guilty to smile or laugh once again. I truly respect and love you all and I just wanted to thank you for that. God bless you and your family and those beautiful horses🤗❤🐎🙏

And what about the millions of delicious plants we know nothing about? WOW !

Not only that but to have the reproach upon God's good name be removed. To enjoy all the good things Jehovah has in-store for us. To have us share with our loved ones, including those that have fallen asleep in death, and will be resurrected to live forever under Jehovah's perfect kingdom rule here on the Earth. These are the promises made by Jehovah God for all righteous people. All because of the priceless gift of his son's ransom sacrifice.

Anna O'Neill, How wonderful that we don't EVER have to rely on our own righteousness. Romans 3:10&11says, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God."
Praise God that our Lord Jesus covers all who believe in Him with His precious blood.
He paid the full price for our sins and still calls us to Him. He promises salvation to ALL who believe in Him.
Ephesians 2:8 says, "For it is by his grace that we have been saved through faith, and this faith was not from you, but it is the gift of God,"
It is pure joy to look forward to the day when Christ returns and rules as our King and Priest. He promised a new heaven and a new earth. And every promise He makes comes to pass.
      We can't praise Him enough!

We get to hang out with two, see the animals, see what you've done and hope to do, join you in dreaming and praying for the future and laugh. You don't have to do this weekly like the garden tour but it's great seeing a full homestead update.

A friend had a Great Dane who seemed to think she was a tiny little bird. She tried to sit in my lap, when you looked at her she gave an expression like, 'How can you even see me?' I am so little.' Around other dogs she loped around with lots of enthusiasm and no dexterity, nearly stumbling over her giant happy tongue. She was great at visiting shut-ins and hospital wards as a certified dog who does that kind of thing. Thanks for showing the horses. They are gorgeous.

I enjoyed this “overview” very much. Sometimes it’s difficult to orient the different areas to each other. It would be cool to see a birds eye view of your homestead in the form of something as simple as a drawn map or better still footage from that drone ya’all have. 😍 Thanks for sharing. BTW, my garden consists of three itsy raised beds and scattered pots so I love dreaming via Roots&Refuge. Keep these great videos coming! #notboring

I'm looking for my first property, and have been stressing out about finding a place where I could live for the rest of my life. Your comments at the end of this video helped me see it completely differently. I think it's beautiful how you consider what your work will offer the whole community - not just your own family. Thanks for reminding me that we are all connected, that we can't always see the extent of our actions, and that we are able to change and adapt. I'm a new subscriber and will be watching many videos in the next months. Be well!

Thanks for the tour! How important is organizing your homestead? How do you prioritize your farm chore time and family chore time? I grew up having a chore list for the house to be done before anything outside. Do you have a routine and do your children have daily/weekly chores in the home and on the homestead? I love to hear your work ethics. I Love the updates. Wish I had more time to ask questions. ❤️🌱

Yes, they are fulfilling your hearts desires, but in your obedience and honoring of God, they are truly giving Him the glory.
