I grew up in Lansing, living in Tennessee since 1982, and went to school with Erving Johnson. I did not know what a road was supposed to feel like when driving until I moved south. Thanks for the video Mileage Mike.
Interesting thing about Lansing is that it has its own unique kind of business loop. The Capitol Loop is actually a signed interstate business loop, technically considered Business Loop I-496, but it is signed with unique shields and designated internally with MDOT as CL-496. It is still a sign marked state highway despite the unique signage making it appears more like a scenic route.
it's sad that the same people who recently saved both the Ottawa Street power plant, the stunning art Deco building on the right at about the 3:00 mark, and the Eckert plant(both old coal facilities) weren't around in the 1950 and 1960s when countless victorians were demolished for I-496 when it could've easily been routed south of where it is where there is a rail hard, and the parking lots of the old LCA.
Another top drive. But I can never understand how the hell do you guys put up with those horrible road surfaces? I've seen better smoother dirt tracks over here. The local councils need to get their s..t together. Cheers 👍🌴🦘
Glad you made it to Lansing Mike. Shoulda warned you about the RR crossing on East Kalamazoo. That thing's a suspension killer! 😝
This is pretty cool. I lived in Lansing for a little while about 13 years ago.

true
Grew up in Lansing and have been in Texas since 1987, but I miss it and come back at least once or twice a year.
Lansing is the only state capitol that is not a county seat.
All depends on what side of town we commit crimes, determines which county jail we go to.
The municipality of Lansing covers three counties...Ingham, Eaton and Clinton. Most of the city is Ingham County. Mason is the Ingham County seat.
Home of the Michigan State Spartans and Ervin Magic Johnson. Gotta go to Ann Arbor next

No wonder why this was uploaded a whole hour late bc Lansing Michigan is in the eastern time zone overall it's a decent size city
Do you have any recommendations for the best time of year to visit Michigan? I am concerned about there poor road conditions and damage to my car.
As a Michigan resident, mid to late fall.
