Thanks dude! You just convinced me it's worth ~$125 to add the tailgate lock to the remote door locks on the truck, which means you made the purchase $25 bucks cheaper!
That was my idea I suggested on a Ford Ranger Forum 3-4 years ago. I had about 34 favorable comments in the following hour. I even got congrats from a LA truck dealer who told me he had 7 gates stolen in one night. As simple as that. I dont want to bragg about that but IT WORKS. Glad to help
Hey Chris! Thanks for putting out videos like these! Too many people are unaware of the real threat and costs that surround tailgate theft. We too want to keep people aware of tailgate security issues and the products that keep all models of truck tailgates safe! #tailgatesecurity
I’m very sorry to hear that. No preventative measure is fool proof. Did they defeat the lock? If so, how? Was it cut or something else? Also, what year and model truck? I’d like to know so that I can look into possible solutions. Thanks.
The Crime Prevention Guy Hi, I don't had idea how they done, it just looks lill scratched, they took it the locker with them because we don't see any piece. Hope you can find a better solution. And let me know thanks
The factory locks are a joke as are the masterlock devices he is pitching. Both are defeated in less than 10 seconds. The hose clamp is FAR more effective.
A bit of black Flex Seal might help take care of stopping someone who is aware that the clamp was used. Or, why not just seal a piece of sheet metal over the opening with Flex Seal. The stuff gets absolutely hard and reinforces whatever it is put onto.
You know what, you're right! I need to do a follow up to show the installation. Thanks for the feedback. In the meantime, check out my previous video where I show how to install the tailgate lock - then simply replace the lock with the hose clamp. Thanks again
A small electric lock would stop this. Like on your doors. Hit the key fob. And when you want to remove the tailgate you remove a quick disconnect plug from the gate
Those masrerlock devices are a joke. You can pull them off with your bare hands. Hose clamp is the best bang for the buck and are 1000x more secure than that masterlock
POP & LOCK sells an electric actuator that wires into the electric lock system on the truck so you can simply lock and unlock with the key fob just as easy as your doors. There made it as easy as pushing the button and when you lock the doors you lock the tailgate. DONE.
You need to get way more creative. Those locks will not prevent your gate from being stolen. My gate was stolen with a hose clamp on, the tailgate lock was locked, and I had a metal cover on my bed that was locked. The cover was not touched, the hose clamp was on the ground and my tailgate was gone. Let's face it, 98% of truck owners NEVER have a need to ever remove their gate for any reason. If you want to prevent it from being stolen you will have to make it permanent. Remove the hinge on the right side where the slot is, cut a piece of thick wall pipe that will slide over the slot on the gate, re install the hinge. Then make sure all the screws associated with the hinge are immobilized to prevent removal. Tac weld them or weld the screw heads up so the Torx bits will not fit. You also need the make the support straps not removable. Yes it would be a pain if you ever need to get it off. At the very least put a GPS tracker inside your gate so you can find it when it gets stolen.
That's why I don't really recommend the hose clamp. I prefer the masterlock tailgate lock for added security. Is it perfect? No, but unless you want to go the extreme as you suggest, it's a great option.
Reading reviews on those locks saying fb the tailgate can still be taken off pretty easily just by pushing it to the side with a screwdriver. And even a few reviews saying that their tailgate got stolen with this lock on there
Hi Chris-I wanted to watch your whole vid but I honestly found the music too annoying as it competed with your voice. By about a minute in I just stopped it and moved on.
People get in and out of there car doors everyday. The tailgate isn't utilized constantly. If you can't remember to lock your tailgate, and it gets stolen, then I have a tough time feeling sorry fo you.
Put the background music volume down bro

My tailgate was stolen this past week, thank you for this information.
Does the key lock not work?
Exactly. Even my gen 1 Tundra has a locking tailgate latch.
Per the Master lock website - does not fit Tacoma
My tundra 2002 dont have tailgate lock at the handle, most older truck dont.
Several tailgate locks on the market. I have a McGuard, but I can see where having a key improves removability when needed.
Older tailgates 1980's and earlier were slotted both ends. Now only slotted one end.

For new trucks obviously
I was hoping to get a size and if it comes in stainless steel.
my tailgate was stolen for a second time, the second time we had it installed this lock! so now we are thinking to do it permanent.
I’m very sorry to hear that. No preventative measure is fool proof. Did they defeat the lock? If so, how? Was it cut or something else? Also, what year and model truck? I’d like to know so that I can look into possible solutions. Thanks.

My truck is Ford 2015 F350 superduty platinum diesel

You wave the clamp around for 5 minutes but never show how to install it
You know what, you're right! I need to do a follow up to show the installation. Thanks for the feedback. In the meantime, check out my previous video where I show how to install the tailgate lock - then simply replace the lock with the hose clamp. Thanks again
Who needs school for knowledge when you have RUclips ;)
My wife claims "You Tube is the fount of all knowledge!"

GRACIAS POR COMPARTIR ESTE INTERESANTE VIDEO .
You are either jacked up on coffee or VERY animated guy
No kidding. But, does the camera have to move every time he moves? Is it attached to his body? I'm getting seasick.
he’s literally just speaking like a person. What video did you watch?
Aren't there a lot of pickup trucks in Texas? That probably contributes to the high number of tailgate thefts.
Great video! Very cool! Thank you!

The music!!!
Thank you!!!!
how many times can a dude turn back and forth lol
the hose clamp can be cut through with safety scissors
Only problem is a tailgate thief can go buy same lock and use their key.
Please, please turn down your background music.
Nice video otherwise.

Do all tailgates lock?
Music drowns out your voice.
Too Much Talking no Showing.

Stop moving so much. You're making me nervous.
