I played about 10 times sole and just won once. watching you play I realized that I was playing the townsfolks wrong. I was discarding them only for the resources, and not for the brow banner effect. I doubled checked the rule book and I did miss that part. But your video helped me to define some strategies to tray out.
I ordered right now a copy of „Runesaga“! Not so easy to find anymore. I did not buy it before, but now I am glad I found one. Thanks for sharing this video! My question: does the playertableau come to use and completely filled? Sometimes it does not seem necessary, but I am sure I am missing something :) Best regards!
@@garphillgames ok, now it makes since. thank you for the clarification. i thought they could only be discarded or tucked. i need to start over! lol also, just backed Inventors! complete the trilogy. thank you for what you do.
I might have missed it in the video, but how is the round structure? Does one player finish their whole turn before the next player each gets an action before the first player acts again?
@@garphillgames That's a great idea. I can see how it will speed up play time a lot with limited down time. Although, I'm curious, did it ever lead to cases where one player was just waiting and seeing which track another player moves up on so they can act accordingly? Which could potentially lead to a stalemate of two players not acting. Unless I don't understand the differences between the single player and normal game mode.
@@rogerhuerlimann8875 I've never seen anyone try to play it like that. It doesn't make much sense to though, as each player doesn't know the potential of other player's hands - plus there are many ways to get more cards above the 6 each round. The randomness of card draws mix things up too much for players to feel like they need to watch their opponent's every move.
@@garphillgames aah, I see! Makes sense. I'm excited to play this! I've played a ton of the original game when I got it through the explorers Kickstarter. I've always liked the concept, but with the news mechanics it looks even more interesting!
@@chris6636 This game is meant to replace the original in the North Sea "canon". But if people still want to play the original, it obviously still exists as is, with all its expansion/promo content.
Looks good! Looking forward to seeing it on my doorstep! Seems to have a Legacy of Yu vibe.
Can’t wait to pick this up and to try the solo mode. Thank you for creating so many games with awesome solo modes by the way! 😀
I like the two-player drafting you came up with. That's nice, and something I may just integrate into every game with drafting cards for two players.
I agree! Simple and interesting way of drafting for 2 players that could easily be implemented in many games

This is giving me Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North vibes a little bit. I like it!
The general card and resource economy reminds me of Legacy of Yu
This looks interesting ! Never played the original, but this seems fast and fun !
Can't wait to get this!
It's quite different to the original game. I like it.
Nice game. You forgot to upgrade the base building, btw :)

It is used for cards and workers. It’s rare for players to have 5 cards there, but I’ve seen it happen.
Shem, at 17:31 where you got the 2 gold. how did you do that? i kind of got lost. i thought the card you discarded had a wool symbol on it.
I played the conspirator which lets you discard another card to get 2 gold.
@@garphillgames so instead of discarding a card to get the resource you can play the card to use its effect?
Yes - townsfolk cards can be played, discarded, or tucked.

If i build the boatcard with points for unique boats or houses twice, do you count the bonus twice?
Yss, you do.
Please reprint the Raiders playmat for these North Sea Kickstarters👃
We won't be doing any reprints for this campaign.
I might have missed it in the video, but how is the round structure? Does one player finish their whole turn before the next player each gets an action before the first player acts again?
I wondered about that too, as the draft seems like a smaller part of the game, given that you can draw cards in other ways.
After drafting cards, all players act simultaneously.

Is the game different enough to get a different “third edition” page on BGG?
It's very different. So much that it has its own BGG page - boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/386366/shipwrights-north-sea-redux

This game does not mix with the cards from the original game, correct?
Correct.

Is all the artwork new, or some carried over from the original version?
We reused some, but also created a lot of new art for the game.
