no, he's in a moving truck and his antenna choices are limited by many factors unlike base stations. He's got big power to keep the signal going to oncoming and passing truckers as distance increases
The sad thing is that a 600 watt radio today isn’t doing anything in a big truck. This skip cycle is crazy and you have drivers running 16 pills splattering up and down the spectrum
Born in '86, just bought my first CB.. A "29" because that's what's on the shelves here. For my first radio, I'm puttin in about $350 to get setup installing everything myself and doing my own research. No Way I'm dropping $500-$1000 on my entry level understanding. Not sure why you'd be laughing at the "29" guys. Is my presence on the air waves pissing in your cornflakes?
How or where U set up your Mic-Gain with a peaked n tuned radio 📻? 🤔 Do you use or do you recommend a Standard Microphone or noise Canceling Mic or power Mic with a peaked n tuned Radio 📻? Thanks 🙏🏽
I use the ranger noise canceling mic. That’s just my preference. I have an astatic but don’t like the way it fits my hand. The road king microphones are as bad as the cobras. Junk.
Aren't you suppose to have maximum of 4 watts on FM to NOT alert someone from the FCC in the US? Damn 625 watts of power you can talk all over the world!
It's sad that you have to listen to words that would make "A Whore Blush" in the uk ,,,,,CB was Beautiful in the late 70s,early 80d / pre the legal 4 watt FM BS, love the rig , not the hobby sadly now
Standing wave ratio (SWR) is the ratio of the maximum magnitude or amplitude of a standing wave to its minimum magnitude. It indicates whether there is an impedance mismatch between the load and the internal impedance on a radio frequency (RF) transmission line, or waveguide.
I’m trying to wrap my mind around why a truck driver would want a radio that has more frequencies (more than 40 channels) when they spend nearly 100% of the time on channel 19. And 500-600+ watts to talk to other truck drivers a few miles in front, or to the rear, of them is ??? Seriously, why would a truck driver spend $1,000+ on a radio with all these features when a $100-150 radio will do what they need to do? Someone help me understand this.
Because we are in a moving truck, distance is increasing as we pass oncoming trucks, our antenna choices are limited by many factors unlike base stations, we can't run 4watts and 30 foot antenna. I have 500+ watts, I get out 10s of miles ahead to warn oncoming trucks of hazards, accidents and weather etc. We have thousands of knuckleheads walking all over the channel, power gets out. Why does it bother you, do you routinely want grown men scrutinizing your choices?
Got a general lee 10 meter export modified for CB and ham. Video helped a ton thanks!!
You’re very welcome. Enjoy your big boy radio.
I’ve been looking at that general lee how are you liking it
Much thanks I want a10 meter radio jus for road talk looking at a president Richard thanks for the tutorial
❤❤❤❤❤
Great radio man, I am looking to get one soon. BUT,,,, How are you measuring 650 watts from a 100 watt meter?

600 watts? Do you use it to heat your sandwiches? Do low flying birds burst into flames when you key up? :)

nice radio.i dont understand how you use that meter it only goes up to qa hundred watts.
The power output is measured on the bench by the tech setting up the radio. I only reference the meter when I’m checking SWR’s.
I run mule fart beep, come on

So he could tell us that he spent $1,000.00 on it.
Twice.
Because we have the money and we can spend it

We can not help you.
Because some truckers are HAM certified & can skip all over the freakin world.
Dx land Skip
If you don’t know how to use a cb you probably don’t need a big radio.
I gave away 3 of these Longhorns. You’re better off with a separate amp and radio
Why is that?
@@donaldcoulter6315he didn’t respond because he doesn’t have a good reason. nobody is giving away a $900.00 let alone 3.
