    Really well explained and also the trick with the hose and warming up the oil are really helpful for people that are not mechanically inclined. thanks a lot!

    Excellent video! Great tip to warm up gear oil for easier flow. The funnel seems to fit perfectly at the oil fill inlet/notch. Thank you!!!

    Hi great videos very informative. I have a 2010 FJ Cruiser last week my check engine went on it says p0327 it's the knocking sensor. Can you make a video how to replace a knocking sensor on a Toyota Fj Cruiser. I don't want to take to a shop or a dealer I would like to learn and do it myself. Thanks

    Great idea with the hose from the top, i spent a long time looking for a decent hand pump for the diff oil when i could have had this brainwave.

    Good video. How often should I can this fluid?

    • @lastgreatroadtrip
      @lastgreatroadtrip  4 года назад +1

      Toyota recommends checking every 15K miles. Look to see if the fluid is dark or looks dirty or foamy. change as needed (I tend to change at minimum of 45k)

    Any neverseize on the threads? (Which reduces needed tq by 20% according to permatex)

      never used anti-seize on drain plugs... only on exhaust bolts, bolt on to the engine and spark plugs. interesting use

      @@lastgreatroadtrip thank you for the reply. Good to know. Unfortunately my stupid drain hex bolt stripped so I was unable to do the front. Did the TC and rear though.

    Do you think its safe to change a 97 4runner Ltd 240k differential oil if it has never been changed before? Everything works well now.

    • @lastgreatroadtrip
      @lastgreatroadtrip  3 года назад +1

      that is a long time to go without an oil change... it is definitely a good idea to change the oil.... but do make sure your remove the refill plug first to ensure it is not stuck. You don't want to drain the oil and then find out you can't refill it because the fill-plug has become stuck in place from years of road gunk and neglect.

      @@lastgreatroadtrip - I'm just afraid with the new oil parts will start breakdown with out the gump.

    Does my 4Runner 2007 v6 have a front differential? It’s a 2wd

    • @lastgreatroadtrip
      @lastgreatroadtrip  2 года назад +1

      Good question. No, a rear wheel drive only car/truck will not have a front differential.

    You lost me when you put oil in hot water....🙄🙄

    • @lastgreatroadtrip
      @lastgreatroadtrip  4 года назад +3

      It had been cold for that last week and the gear lube sat in the garage. The hot water definitely warmed up the gear oil and helped it flow.
