Thanks for the video. Could you please tell me which lighting canopy you were using on here. I have the same tank and cannot find a made to measure canopy. Your one looks perfect, and it doesn’t look big like the Exo Terra compact canopy. Thanks
If used as a sole substrate does this wick water to the top layers? I am thinking of just using a layer of this with a thick leaf litter layer on top. WIll there be enough drainage to prevent the leaf litter from getting soggy?

Probably for people who have smaller terrariums, like me. I want to get some of this for a 12x12x18 terrarium, but it would've made more sense to also release the frog terrarium in a 12x12x18 size instead of 18x18x24+
Hi Chris, as you might have noticed, and is explained into detail on our site, the Sub Stratum can be used in different ways. Each method requires different amounts of Sub Stratum. This, and the fact that it will be used in smaller terrariums too, is the reason why there are only 2 sizes available for the moment.
The division for your country of residence will be able to give you more information. If you let us know, we'll guide you towards the corresponding Hagen - Exo Terra division.
Thanks so much for this video, I've recently purchased these products for my current build to redo all my bottom layers like this. I was wondering, though, is it okay to use a thick layer of those leaves as leaf litter for dart frogs? Seems to be breaking down slower than oak or anything else I've been using so far which would be pretty great. Thanks!

Hello, this is a new type of terrarium developed in particular for frogs. You can find all the details on our Frogs and co site. Our current site is being updated for the moment.
You don't have to, but a drainage layer will help to flush undesired substances out of the bottom layer and easily drain your terrarium when the floor is too wet.
Hello. You have placed a Heat Mat under both of your Terrariums, and you even state in your video on to do so. HOWEVER on your website you state not to place an Heat Mat under your Terrarium as this will dry out your substrate quickly!!! So do we or not? I have just set up my first Bio Active set up for dart frogs and have used the heat mat like in your vids, with the same substrate layering....
Hi Ian, you can place a Heat Mat below the terrarium. But in case you do, it is important to keep an eye on the humidity of the substrate. Depending on the size of your heat mat, spray settings of your mister, and if it is connected to a thermostat or not, the substrate will dry out faster compared to when there is a heat mat installed.
Hello! What is the maximum weight the Exo terra Light Bracket can support? My lamp weighs 3 kg. I wanted to install it on two brackets. There are doubts that they will withstand such a weight. Thank you!
Hello, the Exo Terra Light Bracket was developed to hold all Exo Terra fixtures and other similar types of fixtures and bulbs. We can't guarantee safety when this bracket is used with lamps of such an extraordinary heavy weight.
Picked up the new Exo terra frog and co tree frog terrarium. My frogs love it although one of the side plastic pins that holds the lid in broke. So when I flick the latch, and open the lid back, it’s more easy for it to completely separate as there is the only right side that clicks in now. It happened when I tried to remove my waterfall feature to clean I was being as careful as I could scared of my frogs escaping because they have been jumping out heaps when cleaning the waterfall. Not sure if the black part that goes around the full terrarium can be replaced as that’s where it broke to click into the main lid which comes off. I am from Australia and went through my store to order it. Not sure if they can go through you or their supplier if they would have a replacement top section of the terrarium? Connor
Can you do an expedition on the Halmahera Gecko? I want to know the plants, soil and wood that originate from the island it lives on. I have a Halmahera Gecko and I want the land portion of my paludarium to resemble the environment the Halmahera Gecko lives in. Reply made: 8:48 PM Monday, November 21 2022
It’s worth mentioning the reason why you use a dechlorinator when working with substratum. It contains a bunch of beneficial bacteria specifically added to the mix, and tap water treated with chlorine would have a negative effect on the bacteria you just spent money on. A dechlorinator removes chlorine and chloramines. These chemicals are not nice to pets either.

Awesome video!!! You can also use this Substratum as the only solo substrate in the bottom of water in a paludarium and safe as well correct?? Thanks.
That is correct!
Can the sub stratum be used in a pink toe tarantula enclosure?
Hello Nourhan, yes it can!
The Terra sky light remote needs some improvements like major improvements
Thanks for your comment chad, we'll take those into consideration for the future.
Both new tanks have the same footprint. Why sell the substrata in bags requiring you to buy 2 bags for the desired depth?
my thoughts exactly

Hello didu, there is no harm in using a big layer of leaves. On the contrary, frogs really like a leaf littered bottom!
May i ask wherw to order exoterra enclosures

Hi Connor, the black part is glued to the top of the terrarium and unfortunately not available as a replacement part. The loose parts are.

Hi Kaiju, thanks for your comment. We'd love too, but at the moment we do not have any plans like that.

Hi Ben, thanks for your message. You are correct. We could mention tap water should be left to aerate for 24 hours before use.
how much is an exo terra terrarium and can you buy it on the official website?

can this be used in fish tanks?
Yes, it can!
Word of advice to anybody watching this. I would not want rock dust going down my home's drain. Don't do this in the sink.
will you sponsor me exo terra :))
Sponsoring is handled by our regional divisions, we would suggest reaching out to them directly ;) .
