A 2nd level fighter, 9 level tempest cleric, 9th level sorcerer with transmuted spell first throwing the highest level lightning ball possible on the rug would deal 120 damage flat. The second would be lower at 108. A 20th level fighter with plate, 12 DEX 15 CON (assuming feats and standard array) would have about 164HP if he took average every level. As for the lightning ball, it would 168 , (14d6) x 2 for the first one and 13d6 x 2 (roughly average 104) for the second one. For a total of 272 , while more then his health. Depending on the party comp and his feats he has a good chance of living.(The party having an ancients paladin pretty much makes this more than possible to survive.) Other spell casters will have equal counterspell. With subtle counterspell being a complete shutdown. Cleric has divine intervention , nuff said. Ironically, the one that has a good amount of trouble is the one you thought would have the best chance. As outside of bear totem, barbarian would go down to the average. I got really confused right now... So Action Surge actually bypass this limitation?
@@CacadasdeFoghart Kind of. The rule states that if you cast a spell as a Bonus Action, you can only cast a cantrip, leveled spells are not allowed, for your Action. The Sorcerer’s Metamagic allows you to cast a spell that is usually an Action as a Bonus Action. This means you could cast Fireball as a Bonus Action and Firebolt as an Action, but not Fireball for both. Action Surge, however, has nothing to do with the Bonus Action, so as long as you don’t cast a spell with your Bonus Action, you can use your normal Action and the Action granted by Action Surge to cast Fireball, or any other spells
This is where you either congratulate them for their well thought out strategy, or specifically plan/aim for them next time you toss a tpk situation into the mix.
@@Shadow-gc6le no. the rules on spellcasting state: There’s no rule that says you can cast only X number of spells on your turn, but there are some practical limits. The main limiting factor is your action. Most spells require an action to cast, and unless you use a feature like the fighter’s Action Surge, you have only one action on your turn. If you cast a spell, such as healing word, with a bonus action, you can cast another spell with your action, but that other spell must be a cantrip. Keep in mind that this particular limit is specific to spells that use a bonus action. For instance, if you cast a second spell using Action Surge, you aren’t limited to casting a cantrip with it.

He needed the full 24 hours to Cast Hallow. Otherwise they would have had a whole round to attack him.
For those who don’t know, one of Hallow’s extra effects, is that it can make enemies vulnerable to a specific damage type, minus bludgeoning, slashing and piercing. It takes 24 to cast and is bound to an area around a point i.e. a rug, up to 60ft, provided it doesn’t overlap another Hallow area.

Still trying to understand what lvl 20 adventures he used.
Like bare bones veterans with more health is what it sounds like
A 2nd level fighter, 9 level tempest cleric, 9th level sorcerer with transmuted spell first throwing the highest level lightning ball possible on the rug would deal 120 damage flat.
The second would be lower at 108.
A 20th level fighter with plate, 12 DEX 15 CON (assuming feats and standard array) would have about 164HP if he took average every level. Only a tank-maxed barbarian with high Dexterity is walking away from that situation if caught off guard.
@@someguy3861The fighter took only feats until level 20? He has 7 ASI. What did he spend it on? Even with standard array , he could have 20 con and strength with a feat or two. He on average would have 224 hp and with a feat he could use shield master to get evasion against one of the lightning balls.
As for the lightning ball, it would 168 , (14d6) x 2 for the first one and 13d6 x 2 (roughly average 104) for the second one. For a total of 272 , while more then his health.
Depending on the party comp and his feats he has a good chance of living.(The party having an ancients paladin pretty much makes this more than possible to survive.) In addition other class have a good chance to survive , paladin has sky high saves , good health and has good healing.
Rouge and monk have evasion, nuff said.
Other spell casters will have equal counterspell. With subtle counterspell being a complete shutdown.
Cleric has divine intervention , nuff said.
Ironically, the one that has a good amount of trouble is the one you thought would have the best chance. As outside of bear totem, barbarian would go down to the average.
The ones with the most trouble are artificer, druid and ranger. As they don't have very strong get out of jail free cards. Artificer does have soul of artifice that can protect him from fatal blows. So he likely could limp out with 1hp.
I love that he does skits with his power builds
The rogue should just make him fight his old character's
Then the Rogue isnt winning with his own power, really the DM is still winning.

@@ΛάζαροςΠαντελίδης-ν8κ My DM said that I can only cast 1 spell (that consumes a spell slot) per turn. For example, a sorcerer using the acceleration metamagic couldnt use 2 fireball (one as an action and another as bonus action), but instead 1 fireball and 1 cantrip, all because of the spell limitation (I think its in the PHB).
Can you use action surge to cast 2 spell slot spells? I thought you could only cast a spell slot spell once per turn. Not once per action.
Only if you dont use your bonus action to cast a spell. Otherwise you have no limits
You can only cast 1 leveled spell per turn unless you're casting a cantrip as a bonus action. Or an action if the leveled spell is a bonus action.
