The game seems to put you on a real tight deadline with the smog attacks - so if there'd be anything you could improve on it'd be using your turns more efficiently and planning for that goal rather than just staving off the immediate smog.
Play towards specific cards or buildings, thin-deck a little and not just adding buildings every round if you're not sure about them could also help.
But even then, the game really puts you on a tight schedule so especially going in blind I doubt it'd be easy to do a lot better than you did here. Hindsight 20/20 and all that.

This was my first play of the game. The big difference in the third try (last 30 mins) was realising that the upgrade of the central tile completely reset the smog. Pacing that properly is an absolute game changer.

I think you could get to some very interesting combo's eventually. I was having a good time combining faculties and barns (I think) with distilleries, so I got learning and oil in the same turn. I think wonders and higher level cards will be interesting on the later levels, but not sure if I will survive that long!!
Pacing the central tile upgrades properly was what made the big difference though. Thank you for the fun thinky game!!
