This is why it's so important that NATO and the West give Ukraine all the support they possibly can. Keeping up this war is really hurting Russia, and it's questionable how much more of this Russians are prepared to take, just to bolster the ego of an insane psychopath.

Being a Brit I thought the generation who fought to save my country of birth during WW2, especially the Battle of Britain RAF, that we would never see the likes of these people & their indomitable spirit again.
I wrong. The Ukrainian army is the full equal of this generation of Brits, these 2 being the finest generations any country could hope for.

It was the same generation that colonized other people and countries, traded in slaves, took away the freedom of other free nations, committed untold atrocities on the natives of those countries, and killed tens of millions in deliberately induced famines (be it in Ireland or India. The figure for India stands at 28-33M killed in famines in just the 120 years of British rule. ~5 times greater than the holocaust).

They actually beat them, in a way that Russia fails to do with Ukraine.
The Taliban went into hiding and played guerillia warfare. But at this point Russia not even seems to be capable to get to the point where it looses to such tactics. They are drawing an open war.

Not only following, but I will be making sure that America itself will be supporting it for the long haul...I'm part of the supply chain of getting these NATO weapons to Ukraine, and it won't stop as long as there's still a fight to be fought.

If we allow Ukraine to be defeated, how many other countries will come under Russian control, either directly or indirectly?

The west generally and the Anglosphere in particular seems to have this tendency to drastically overestimate the capabilities of adversaries and to drastically underestimate their own strengths. During the Cold War, everyone in the west was convinced that the Soviet Union was 10 feet tall, and the west was perpetually on the back foot. It wasn’t until later that we learned that Soviet power was all smoke and mirrors; Soviet industry was decades behind the west, Soviet agriculture couldn’t feed the population without imports, Soviet tech was largely comprised of poorly copied versions of stuff stolen from western countries, the Soviet military looked formidable on paper but was actually comprised of obsolete and low quality weapons systems, and living standards in the worker’s paradise was a small fraction of that in the US and Western Europe.
It seems we’ve figured out that Putin’s Russia is in a similar state, but people still seem convinced that China is about to take over the world. It isn’t. Fundamentally, while totalitarian regimes might seem rock solid, they are in fact very fragile and don’t really do anything well except brutally exploiting their own populations and silencing domestic opposition.

@@FHIPrincePeter Both the USSR and NATO pulled out of Afghanistan primarily for political rather than military reasons. The juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze.
Regarding how many casualties NATO could sustain, the answer is a lot more than the Russians were NATO to hypothetically a similar scenario as the USSR in WWII. Of course it won’t and can’t owing to differences in geography.
@@FHIPrincePeter Besides the fact that the days in which Moscow could sustain millions of deaths are long over, as we know from Afghanistan (which the Soviet Union fled after 15.000 casualties) and most importantly from the last Ukrainian invasion (which got Putin into quite a bit of trouble in late 2014 / early 2015 on account of a few hundred deaths -- so much so that he made military casualties in peacetime a state secret by presidential decree in May 2015), Russia wouldn't last half an hour in a war against the West.
NATO's an organization which, even before the outbreak of the current conflict, back when Putin's armed forces were still widely considered the 2nd most powerful military in the world, was estimated to have at least 10 times Russia's military might.
This is a situation in which Ukraine must prevail. They are fighting the biggest threat to European democracy and freedom since the second world war! They must be given the weapons, training and munitions needed for total victory. This is a small price to pay for the West when compared to the death, injury and suffering the extremely brave Ukrainian people have had to injure to defend their basic human rights. If they MUST prevail you may have to get involved. I suggest flying to Poland and crossing into Ukraine to join the Ukrainian Foreign Legion. Rest assured it will go perfectly, and you will be totally safe and fine. Go ahead and load up and ship out!.

It's the shaping of narrative that's important. They fought back against Nazis outgunned. So many died but they swung into action to defeat the invader/subjugator. Regardless of carving up Eastern Europe and selling raw materials to the Nazis, the narrative is how bravely they fought defending their motherland.
It seems it's a different story if you are fighting in defence of your land, or fighting for aggrandisement at the behest of superiors. That line can be blurred though, as quashing revolutions in Czechoslovakia or Hungary could also be spun as defending ideology. Exactly what Russia did in Afghanistan, and what the US and its unlucky allies did in Vietnam.
Sadly I fear we haven't yet evolved, and swallow or tolerate war in narratives of national honour. Are we similar to cloven footed, horned, male animals, butting heads for territory and mating rights? It seems so.
If Putin had spent a fraction of the cost and effort charming, and opening his country, providing security by ending corruption, think how rich Russia could be with those resources.
Instead, he is now the Bond villain, despised and pitiful.

For God’s sake, the west plays too fairly. The Ukrainians needed heavy weapons weeks ago along the eastern front, but now cities are falling to the russkies, because the Ukrainians can’t match the Russian armory. Why on earth didn’t the west “little green men” to man the heavy weapons, without wasting weeks on training in Poland. You can be sure the Russians would have done this.

UK providing training very important . Ukraine can get to say 1.5 million troops quicker than Russia can but they need training and weapons as Minister says. There is a window of opportunity before and if Russia mobilises. If they did mobilise it would take time and they have not trained in those numbers. ( So as mentioned will probably not bother ). This will all blow back to Russian Mothers.

I wonder what happened to Putin as a 2/3 year old ...the natural age for willfulness and temper tantrums when a child fails to get ...an ice cream...a toy...etc. Now he behaves the same way and wants to blame the whole world for his inability and insecurity. The most serious problem for Russian authoritives is with lost conscripts. Every dead conscript has like 60 old class mates in recent memory. These are young and passionate griefing people directly emotionally connected to the death of the conscript.

Ukrainians do a lot of damage but it seams they are still struggling? Are there going to be any people left to rebuild their country. You are brave and heroes in our eyes and prayer for you every day and pray for an end soon.
People will come from around the world to help Ukraine rebuild.
You guys got to look back at the Vietnam war for comparison, we Americans devastated the north Vietnamese, they lost maybe 5 million soldiers but they survived and rebuild their country, Ukraine will survive and be rebuilt, have resolve!

On an interpersonal level, throwing men together and expecting them to immediately work as a cohesive team is ridiculous.
America puts men together in a boot camp, isolated from the outside, making them dependent upon each other for everything. Anyone who doesn’t work with others is groomed out. This bonds them and makes them more effective and unlikely to turn on each other.
Russian soldiers are strangers to each other. They won’t sacrifice themselves for their fellow soldiers, let alone some vague ideology.
One of the things that is quite clear in the Russian army they don't have ncos, non-commissioned officers, that keep the military discipline within the units, this is so very important because when the s*** hits the fan troops look for leadership!!! Russia is throwing out a bunch of inexperienced troops and they're getting slaughtered, the Ukrainian army is losing a lot of soldiers too, the only hope I see is the Ukrainian army can hold the southern part of Ukraine, continue to hurt the Russian supply lines creating havoc among poorly trained Russian troops perhaps this will drive the parties to the negotiating table, I believe Russia will claim victory by the territories that they hold at this time, it'll be a tough call, the weaponry that the ukrainians needed yesterday most certainly would have enhanced their bargaining power, and though Ukraine says they want all of their territory back I don't see that happening, unless that Ukrainian army has some miraculous victories, Vladimir Putin simply will not back down except by force, he's like a cornered wild animal, a dictator that will sacrifice young Russian soldiers if the Ukrainian army can hold down the South perhaps you'll be a stalemate
@@tonymills5086 I’m believe Ukraine will NOT cede land. The atrocities committed by Russian soldiers alone, never mind the total destruction of civilian homes and churches and cultural centers requires more than “ok, keep what you took”.
I don’t see the Ukrainian population agreeing to negotiate with terrorists, and things are decided by referendum in Ukraine.
They know from experience that nothing Russia promises prevents it from resting, resupplying, and coming in for another bite.
Add to that the Russian statements that only wiping Ukraine off the map will suffice? How would anyone react to that?
I believe Ukraine will keep fighting whether the west helps them or not.
But if the west doesn’t help, it will be that much harder when Russia goes after other countries, including NATO countries.

The media never tire of the 'war fatigue' question, or the 'NATO divide' question, which first, help create them, and second, play right into Putin's hands. The 'war fatigue', as if we could just turn a war on and off, shows to me the degeneracy of the West and the shallowness of our understanding and commitments. I hope we can be better allies than that.

When fatigue should occur is when Ukraine is losing the control of the war, but now that the have defeated the first objectives of Russia,so USA and Britain can not talk about fatigue since the battle shows that Ukraine counter attacks shows more results, and Ukraine's troops can not be fatigue when you are defending your country, fatigue is not an option, but Russians will have fatigue in due course.

I can't admire anyone more than what the Ukrainians have done to revamp and modernize their military since Russia first invaded. NATO members willingly stepped up and assisted Ukraine by offering training in line with the defense alliance's military forces. In 8 years they went from Russia walking over the Ukrainian military to the reverse with Ukrainian forces able to stand off the larger country's best efforts. I have listened to a number of experts and many say Ukraine will win their war. I will continue sending to the humanitarian aids organizations working on the assisting those harmed in this war, in Europe and elsewhere.

Russia will not go back to the " status quo ante " without a secret deal for Ukraine territory so no such treaty can ever be legally binding on Ukraine no matter how many diplomatic documents it signs and it can take the benefits and legally resume the war for the rest of its territory as a lawful war ruse. So much for this alleged " peace treaty" . All lawful negotiations to end the war are confined to the recognition of the de facto 2014 boundaries in Dombas and Crimea only.. Henry Kissinger was misrepresented on mass globally by the media that do not understand the awesome power of the Nuremberg Charter at the core of the peremptory norms of international law making their overall coverage fundamentally out of tune and context for understanding what is really going on. Media commentary has an appalling history of being accurate in modern warfare. The 24/7 news cycle exacerbates this prior appalling history giving this 21st century media mass ADD. The former defense minister has been misled by media reports instead of looking closely at what Kissinger actually said. This is why Kissinger has disappeared and France, Germany and Italy have changed and are now on message. See how untrained media commentary stuffs everything up and creates false knock on effects that politically interfere with the perception of the war. They are dangerous..

While bashing Germany is somewhat a sport that even us Germans are playing, I still wonder what the other countries in contrast have provided e.g. Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Greece to name a few. I have not heard much about those ones so far. I know France has delivered Caesars and Spain played with the thought of providing Leopard 2A4s, but does anyone have a comprehensive overview of what is fact?

Ukraine still needs our help from citizens around the world. Many people I know are donating to Ukraine Army, Come Back Alive, or humanitarian relief there. Anyone can do a quick search online for verified ways to help Ukraine and first thing that comes up is a big list of legit places to donate. Ukraine will win if we can keep help coming to them every day. Also important to contact your government and tell them to keep sending help to Ukraine!
I do have a lot of sympathy for Ukraine but so many of their commentators attack Germany's lack of response without taking into account how hard it is, politically (both internally and internationally) and socially, for Germany to turn from nearly 70 years of state pacifism (for obvious, historical reasons) to becoming a belligerent country once again. For a newly elected Socialist Bundeskanzler, leading one of the most complex coalition governments in recent years, to have achieved what he has is a near miracle.
I think everyone understands that Germany relies on Russian gas. There is however something dishonest and deceptive about making big proclamations of help, but in fact doing very little. Simply keep quiet. Also there is the matter of German efforts to dismantle coal industries of other countries, and at the same time building direct gas pipelines to Russia. Germany has been building up its economy and political influence at the cost of other EU member states. All under the umbrella of so called European unity.
Russia manufactures weapons and ammunition on equipment and with tools provided by Germany and Germany has NO political or social problems to send everything Russia needs to manufacture weapons and ammunition.

They found themselves in a difficult situation & genuinely tried to avoid putin's aggression through negotiation & trade in an attempt to bring russia into the fold (sadly this didn't work & was perceived as weakness by putin).

I believe if Ukraine wants continued support they MUST keep their honor clean. Don't harm prisoners in any way for example. The reason why the Russians are bad is because they are trying to make their point on the battlefield, instead of through diplomacy. That is why we support Ukraine. However, if Ukraine uses the same methods as Russia, we cannot keep supporting them.
So no: It's not aid-fatigue. Western countries are getting weary of where the weapons they sent are going to be used for.
