I have this same model and used many times in the wild and never had an issue in the cold wet and windy Irish weather! Bone dry and sturdy everytime. Couple of tips though, 1) instead of inserting the poles directly after the laying and pegging the ground sheet, instead lay the inner layer over the groundsheet and then insert the poles, otherwise you have to remove the poles from the groundsheets eyelets and insert them again to allow the inner tent to be secured to each corner. Then insert the pegs to the groundsheet as this allows for better spreading. 2) I removed all the tent and groundsheet from their individual bags and pack them all together in one small 3 liter dry bag, apart from the poles and the pegs I keep these in their original bags and pop the pegs into the pole bag, this easier to unpack and repack the whole tent as you don't need to roll it up perfectly and you can cram the inner, the outer and the groundsheet into the same bag.

What has your experience been with the window? My experience with a Big Agnes UL tent ($$$) that used that window design was that the velco patch could not hold the window flap closed in a wind, the rod that props the flap open funneled rain into the tent, and that the velcro patches weren't sealed inside, so rain just dripped through onto the mesh. It looks like it would cause real problems if the wind was from the door's direction -- but you also can't rotate this tent so that the wind is from the sides, as it isn't well supported from the sides with its pole design.

Hi! I have a question: how does this tent behave in very strong windy conditions? I have a fear that because of the Y poles it might not stand as strong as a X pole version - of course depending on the wind direction. You really must take care of the position you set up the tent? What's your experience with that? Thanks so much in advance!
You're right, you need to be really careful which direction you pitch your tent. From the back it's very streamlined. From the side it is not! There's a bit of flapping on the sides if the wind changes direction. Personally, I won't take any budget tent in really windy conditions. However, if placed correctly and if the wind does not change direction, this Naturehike CLoud Up 1 tent would be ok in winds.
The funny thing is that the I length of the Cloud up 2 Upgraded is actually shorter than their 1 person tent. So if you are taller and only need a 1 person tent that one would be the better choice (supposedly 20cm longer!). Also the vestibule is 5 cm longer. Of course not as wide though. If it wasn't for me needing to sleep my son with me sometimes I would have gone for the Cloud Up 1
It's really WAAAAAAY tooooooooo looooooooong. Like unusable space long. I'd prefer it was an inch or two wider honestly and 2-3 inches shorter. I'm not horribly short either.
I wish I had seen it last week before i ordered a 2 person version. I was put off by the 1 person tents as i wanted to store all my stuff inside. Looks like i would have been ok with the one person tent as well.

I prefer tents exactly for 1.5 person because you have some space for your baggage, but there is no place for other person, that's ultimate life hack for camping with other people. I have no problem let someone sleep in my tent, but you know people, they are drunken while camping and I don't want vomit inside, I want to just sleep there. Other people are always like "I don't need tent, I just use someone's tent," I understand it, it's enough to take 2 big tents when you are traveling with 4 people, but it's also very irresponsible count on that, I travel mostly by train, so they just can't force me carry some big tent for more people, they are traveling by cars and they are lazy even take some extra tent, I just don't understand it, why should I carry that? People are weird.
Agreed. It's the only flaw. Unfortunately, price weight, space. It was the best tent available. Side entry was more expensive for the 1x a night I might get out and the 1-2x a day a get in/out per day. Not worth it.
Hi. Does the rainfly touch the inner tent, or is there space between them? I've watched a video that says they are touching and this can lead to condensation. Also, what do you mean by 'upgraded' version? Thanks for the video :)

Wow. Didn't realise how big this is.
It really is. I’m the sort of person who wants that extra space so I’ve only ever owned two man tents. This tent is a game changer!
brill tent features are brillant light long .well made .using mine in Australia
Great to hear from someone actually using one 👍
I think the upgraded version on this type has two Y frame construction to it. And it has air vent in the back.
The ‘Upgraded’ version has a vent above the front door and it has the new style pole connectors.

Hi what size is the footprint you have?
It comes with a footprint 👍
Very good review. Thx!
Thanks for watching!
I have the Up 2 Upgraded, so far so good. Should have bought this one, lighter. But the Up 2 is more roomy.
The Cloud Up 2 is still really light though with a tiny weight penalty. It’s definitely the more popular of the two.
@@BackpackingUK yes indeed..
Great review! Thanks for sharing! I bought it too for a few minutes. ;-)
It's a great 1 person backpacking tent 👍
Hi! After years of usage, hows it now?
My advice, go for a Cloud Up 2! It’s worth the slight weight penalty and pack size. Also, stick the back end in the breeze.
@@BackpackingUK how much is the difference?
Great review
Cheers!
I wish I had seen it last week before i ordered a 2 person version. I was put off by the 1 person tents as i wanted to store all my stuff inside. Looks like i would have been ok with the one person tent as well.
Don't worry too much, the 2 person version is only slightly bigger and ever so slightly heavier. It's still a fantastic tent 👍
@@BackpackingUK yes indeed. I just saw they do 10D tents as well that are even lighter!
@@relarras Haven't seen those, wow!
@@BackpackingUK i know!!! I wish i had gone for the 10D! Might get a solo tent in 10D further down the line.
@@BackpackingUK fyi i just had my tent delivered and I put it up. It’s absolutely perfect! Huge thanks for giving me the confidence to go with this one.
good review!!! thanks!!!
Cheers!
Thanks for the great review, now I want one even more... 😅👍😊
It is currently £87 on Camperlists www.camperlists.com/collections/naturehike-gear/products/naturehike-cloud-up-serie-upgraded-camping-tent-waterproof-outdoor-hiking-tent-nylon-backpacking-tent-with-free-mat?ref=azpizuhxua
looks great
It's a really nice tent, I highly recommend it.
@@BackpackingUK I ordered it, thanks for the review
Anyone used it with a dog inside?? I
have Croatian scent hound, local breed. Seems like she could fit. 20kg dog, not tall not small, athletic
People are weird.
the 20D weighs 1,2 kg
As it comes, with all the accessories (bags, pegs, mat, etc), it weighs over 1.5kg. Trust me, I’ve weighed it.
@@BackpackingUK ok. thx
Too bad it is an end entry tent. Once you try a side entry tent, there is no going back to an end entry type.
I know what you mean but for wild camping it's great as I don't get in and out much.
Agreed. It's the only flaw. Unfortunately, price weight, space. It was the best tent available. Side entry was more expensive for the 1x a night I might get out and the 1-2x a day a get in/out per day. Not worth it.
£80 inc tax atm.
That’s a great deal if it’s the 20D upgraded version 👍
Gracias Hobbit.
😂😂😭
Hi. Does the rainfly touch the inner tent, or is there space between them? I've watched a video that says they are touching and this can lead to condensation.
Also, what do you mean by 'upgraded' version?
Thanks for the video :)
It's close, but mine didn't touch the inner.
