When you called the bike slide a "Power slide," funnily, it's what the industry calls the "Akira slide." That one shot inspired literally hundreds of the same shot thereafter in movies, anime, cartoons, etc. Like you said, so much of Akira inspired everything after it.
we ended up watching a montage of that for a podcast lol. the girls were surprised by how many homages there are. its a fun thing to look out for from now on
The movie is very good as an animation, but please read the original book as well. Since the movie was created in the middle of the original story important characters and stories have been altered.The story after the movie is also very good.

Good sub but the dubs from the 90s are elite maybe because I was a child but the dub for this was phenomenal
