The gameplay it’s fantastic. It’s a combination of a lot of elements in a single package that makes it Survival Action at its best. There’s no game that makes you feel the violence as intense as The Last of Us. The transitions between action and stealth are seamless, very natural and every mechanic is satisfying. The inventory for instance is fast enough to favor the inmersion, everything is in real forcing you to decide carefully. Also the maps and scenarios are so imaginative and wide, there are plenty of options in every level to approach the situations in many different ways. The pacing is amazing, and there are constantly different situations to overcome. The Winter Chapter for instance gives another spin to the overall game. When you play as Ellie you can’t rely on direct approach like Joel. You must be more sneaky, using more your bow, throwing more bottles to get advantage over the enemies... Something that I don’t understand is the AI complaint that people always have with this game. If you look at that generation, The Last of Us’ AI is possibly the more realistic and complex. Of course, there are always some bugs here and there and it doesn’t react to the companion, but that’s a design choice to not raise the difficulty of the game. And the best is that Part 2 seems a lot lot better. It’s like the level of improvement that was Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 1 or Mass Effect 2 to Mass Effect 1
I play it as a stealth game mostly, because I live killing people without them knowing where I am, that and it helps with the short supplies you get in Grounded mode. Honestly though I have never seen anyone call this a boring game, to me its the best game ever.

When you're playing you're a mindless machine with nothing but bloodlust. When you're watching you sit back and watch as someone else mindlessly slaughter their enemies and realize how messed up it truly is.

Third person perspective allows you to reflect. When you are playing you feel the cortisol rise and it triggers a flight or fight response. The killings you do while playing are justified to yourself because you don't reflect.
Johnny Klebitz was a badass too in gta 4 the lost and damned in 5 he gets killed like he was just a small time punk, just like Joel in TLOU 2, sometimes the devs are just dicks to their own characters
You can quick punch if you spam left trigger while simultaneously hitting punch button and it makes you sometimes counter as you saw there, not that it matters 2 years later lmao
Joel is so badass. His physicality makes the gameplay so satisfying. I can’t imagine how playing as Ellie in part 2 will match it. Still gonna play it though of course :D
I felt like I was in real world environments with this game. For the PS3, the technology was insane when the game came out. I’m not sure if it was the story that made this game great for me or the crafting in combination with the real-world gritty environments and hand-painted textures.
These are great. When I first saw one of your vids, it made me replay the game and try to play aggressively. Not as good but it cut my play time because I’ve always been a stealth player
