Great video. It should be noted the French had been involved in North America prior to the early 1600s with various seasonal trading posts. The most notable is perhaps Tadoussac. The first permanent French settlement was at Port Royal (Habitation site) in Acadia, which was established in 1605 by Pierre Pierre Dugua, Sieur de Mons. Although the English/British had a different relationship with the Indigenous groups in its main colonies than France had with its Indigenous groups, many people tend to ignore the vast Rupert's Land territories. The Hudson's Bay Company had a similar, and arguably a better relationship with the Indigenous people in Rupert's land, than the French in New France and Louisiana.
