Musical Escape(ment)

This, my second kinetic sculpture, is based on Dolf Perenti's Involute Escapement design. The woods are red oak (stained and natural) and padauk. The drive weight is one pound, eleven ounces.

Please take the time to reply to me. I would like to make your version myself for my grandfather but Im having trouble figuring out two parts. The gear behind the star wheel, since the star side is struck twice would that mean the back gear has 10 teeth? Also, your main gear seems like it is square, is this a necessary shape or do you think I could get away with making a round one instead?
Any advice is GREATLY appreciated Terry.

Im still using trial and error to come up with my gears. Now Im thinking there is a 10mm gear spacing ( Im not saying to scale it is that size but I found a gear template generator that you plug the numbers into which is showing a different scale) My goal is to make this design but at 25% the size. Ill let you know how it turns out.
