Netflix should focus on Content rather than patrolling users for sharing their account....there's a screen limit, yet still they wanna micro manage logins which is ridiculous for the subscription price!
I know no one wants to hear this, but Netflix should change their model to renting.... Everyone may want subscription based monthly fees. but at what cost ? Content that's get removed in a shorter time frame than Apple.. still have 1999 movies still available in 2023? I still have "Tim Allen The Santa Clause" purchased with Apple today..That would be removed from Netflix by now. Hollywood hate the monthly model, All you gotta do is look at the pattern across all monthly services to see. Perhaps what could save them is "Netflix Original" content, That's how i think of this as.
Apple has a fair number of problems to deal with in 2023 after struggling with engineering and logistics issues in 2022. Buying Netflix would be a major distraction and require a lot of management attention in a year where they need to execute on iPhones and Macs. I'd much rather see a 3nm transition than the addition of Netflix.
That problem is primarily caused by China's insane "zero COVID" policy, which the Chinese themselves decided to drop anyway because it was interfereing with all the factories (ask how it affected Tesla's Gigafactory Shanghai). But now that China is finally getting its production act back together, the logistical issues should finally go away.
That's because they're only interested in attracting new subscribers. Continuing to pay for shows after those shows are doing nothing to attract new subscribers (anyone who cared about them subscribed during the first season) doesn't make sense on a service that doesn't run advertisements. They'd rather cancel a show that's not attracting new subs and green light a show that might get new subs - hoping their existing subs remain subbed.
I actually don't like series to go on forever. Each seasons should contain its conclusion. Look at stranger things it's gone from a fantastic first season to ...
@@ryhanon7 Actually, keeping older shows going would attract new subscribers too.... Because not everyone wants the latest stuff. It's why Disney+ is so successful with Star Wars movies.. because they have them 'All'. The Simpsons, and so on..
Netflix doesn't need saving. They're anual revenue and profit are respectively $30B and $14B and it didn't tank, despite heavy competition in the past 3 years. They need to stay focused on content.
I really like Apple TV+ and have no regrets paying for it. If Netflix would allow Apple to put their service in the TV app, I would be less likely to regret paying for, or eventually canceling, the service. Netflix just isn’t that compelling to me anymore. Just a hassle. You look cold today. 😁 Thanks for still putting out videos for us!
The biggest reason Apple shouldn’t buy Netflix is that it would draw negative governmental attention worried about BS anti-trust allegations. That would put the rest of Apples healthy business at risk. Hard pass on this acquisition.
I think it would be an awesome move if Samsung were to buy Spotify and Netflix. This way Samsung would have their own Music streaming and Video services. Just like Apple has their own Apple Music and apple tv plus.
These days the only reason why you do merges if when you want to either expand to other areas, or just sell off the assets (like Disney did with LucasArts) They got rid of half of the iOS library :P The question is, just because you do a merge doesn't end in success. How do we know Sansumg won't change stuff? Some business is always unhappy..
Richard Plepler built prestige HBO, and already works for Apple TV+ indirectly. I suspect Apple has already considered shortcuts like buying Netflix or HBO Max, and came to the conclusion they need to build the service the hard and slow way to get the control over the business model they want. Neither Netflix or HBO Max have a business model that will work long-term. Spending $18b per year on original content and charging $10/mo was a zero-interest-rate phenomenon.
Can someone explain to me how HBO Max has such an extremely terrible user experience on pretty much every platform, that barely loads videos sometimes? Given their generally high end content I do not for the life of me understand how they created such bad apps that barely provide a better experience than having to go back in time and watching it on VHS...
Glad I'm not the only one. I signed up for HBO Max to watch The Last of Us and they sent me a survey asking, among other things, if I'd stick around after The Last of Us ended. I said no because their apps are *terrible* and an absolutely miserable experience to navigate and find any content I'm actually interested in.
The potential value to Apple from a Netflix acquisition would be in protecting tv+ image as a platform for curated high quality content while still providing viewers a large volume of content that people are demanding. Transfer original Netflix shows like Black Mirror and Stranger Things and potential spinoffs to tv+ and leave Netflix as a repository of licensed shows from pre-streaming eras. Netflix could be a lower end brand for Apple, like Beats is to AirPods. Having all of Netflix's content in the TV app would make it instantly useful without having to bring down the tv+ brand's positioning as high quality Apple originals.
I just finished watching Shantaram before I knew the show was canceled with a "to be continued" at the end and it has no proper ending , so, It won't matter. That just reminds me I'm just a customer and regardless the company the dollars count more than me.
For the sake of a lot of cancelled series, yeah, I wish apple would buy netflix, but netflix should really focus quality instead of quantity, like it was years ago. But I think netflix would fit more with amazonprime I think, kinda similar "quality" of series.
When I was working at Darwin Networks in 2000, when they caught a bunch of Jefferson Commons students logged on with the same user and password, they would kick them all offline. When they called in saying they lost their connection, we would tell them. You aren't supposed to be sharing your passwords
You’re on the money. Netflix doesn’t realize the only reason most customers haven’t cancelled already is that they AREN’T thinking about their subscription. Most households are in debt and credit cards are full. We are in a trade/hot war, debt crisis, liquidity crisis and a new great depression. The moment customers think about cost cutting, Netflix is first to go.
Netflix is frustrating. Why should I have to pay $19.99 per month for 4K quality and no adds? The basic plan should offer 4K for $9.99 and one screen. I don’t need 5 profiles.
I sub (other than Netflix and Amazon which is part of Prime) through Apple subscriptions in settings. (I use Apple TV and find it pretty easy to choose a streaming service there). What I prefer about it is that I can sub for a month or 2, unsub, choose another and sub--depends on what gets my attention. Being able to sub and unsub without having to go through their regular subbing via an app or online makes things much easier. Think that's why Apple TV was created though they evidently didn't reach an agreement with Netflix (which we've subbed to since it was DVDs in mailed red envelopes). I tend to watch Apple TV+ the most though don't watch any of them much to be truthful--watched Banshees of Inishirin on HBO Max the other night and found that worthwhile.
@@GoFastGator I feel like it was called "Netflix", the Netflix of yesterday, before all of the studios reclaimed all of their content back away from Netflix.
I don’t think we should. The day of Netflix being king of streaming is over. As convient as it was, I have never found it that hard to just unsub from a single streaming service. Unlike Cable, which was a pain. Cost wise streaming was always gonna go up…making and licensing content cost money and the old days of one lump cost for Netflix giving you access to (nearly) everything was doomed to end. There’s plenty of streaming boxes for TVs that allow you to sync all your streaming accounts and search for programs in one place. But if I want to drop say HBOMax for a few months, I just log onto HBO Max online and unsub until they have something I want. Yeah it puts personal management of that on me, but better then cable charging me for 50 channels I don’t watch.
