I expect a decent number of games supported the 6-button pad, but probably not as many as some people might imagine, because it was a peripheral that most Genesis owners didn't get in the box and therefore support for it had to be optional in probably all or almost every case. Edit: Looks like around 80 doing a quick check online. On a kinda similar note, have you made a video for 20 SNES games that use every single input on the controller? I don't even know if there are 20, I would imagine there must be, but it would certainly be interesting to see such a video. :) Here's a few to get started: Super Metroid, Super Mario World (although X and Y are duplicate actions, which makes sense so you can run and normal jump or run and spin jump at the same time), Blackthorne, Hagane, Theme Park, and Secret of Mana (L and R are normally duplicate functions in-game, but you can also hold down L, R, Start and Select at the same time to do a soft reset, which is kinda cool). Maybe a similar video of 20 SNES games that use just all 6 of the main action buttons would be cool too. Edit: Wait, Sonic uses the 6-button pad. For what? It literally only has one action button for jumping, so I'm not quite following its inclusion here. :-o
@@MakaimuraKiu So six jump buttons? I guess it means that no matter how you hold the controller you're good to go in whatever position feels best for your finger to sit.
It would be good if there was some explanation on screen for how each game used a 6 button pad. I mean most of the games in here play perfectly fine with just the three buttons and I cannot even imagine how the 6 buttons could be used in games as simple as Vector man or Alissia dragoon. Or the original sonic... which is a one button game.
There were some games that only worked with the 3 button pad, actually the 6B pad has a button MODE you have to press to put the pad in 3B mode so you can use it. This list are 20 games support the 6B pad, if the game has only one action, you'll have 6 buttons to perform that action.

To my knowledge most games work with the 6 button pad, the extra buttons will just not do anything. The Dpad on Genesis controllers is very good, it works fine bouth in platform and fighting games.

For me the 6 Button pad fells better in the hands then the 3 button one.
Yep I bought it to play Beyond Oasis when I was a kid and the change was huge, muche better pad.
