  • This video outlines our unique system of applying Venetian plaster to #fireplaces using our Adhesive mesh, Venetian Italian basecoat, and topcoats of decorative plaster followed by our penetrating sealer. Everything is designed to work together to produce the best finish and provide both heat and crack resistance.

For all zero clearance fireplaces we always recommend using drywall and finishing all areas with Proset 60 setting compound instead of all purpose, and then priming 1-1 with our quartz primer, followed by a final layer of Quartz primer prior to installing the mesh.
For all Non zero clearance fireplaces: These fireplaces run more hot and require cement board around the opening. Do not use durock and stick with densboard or hardi backer, and always match the seam carefully together with the drywall meeting up with it. All areas should be finished with metal angles if near heat, and Proset 60, with all-purpose compound being used only as a last layer. Any fireplaces with a raw edge of drywall meeting to the fireplace without a cover should use metal externals cut to fit as an l bead all the way around to ensure the plaster is not going to crack against the metal fireplace. The L bead will bridge the fireplace gap and ensure the plaster moves separately from the fireplace. Please do not use any paper beads near heat for Non Zero clearance fireplaces.
The fireplaces in this video are both Zero clearance and the system we use is outlined in detail for all professionals or DIY looking to install high end plaster.
