Hello Dave. Another wonderful video. To answer your question, yes, I'd love to see a workshop on the types of masks and when to use them. I think that'll be incredibly useful, because sometimes one gets caught in a conundrum on which to select and when to use these different masks. Each of these selection or masking methods have their own unique way of accomplishing the tasks you go for, and having such a guide would be so helpful. I'm truly grateful for your hard work and teaching methods. Like I've said before, you have a gift of teaching in such a soothing manner that one never gets tired of listening to your voice. I have a file of all your videos as a go-to guide when ever I need to go back and refresh or brush up on a technique.
Thank you very much for selecting my image, Dave...all I can say is "WOW". You really got into some areas that I never would have thought of myself...its always nice to see through someone else's eyes. You've really given me other creative options to explore in my editing going forward. Thank you again. If anyone is interested in the location, its an area known as Slide Rock along a section of Oak Creek in Sedona, AZ.
@@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly My pleasure, Dave. This image was taken quite a while ago when my editing consisted of basic exposure adjustments in LR and some saturation layers with a black mask (long before TK8). I'm now in the process of re-visiting some of my older files using TK8 as the basis. Thanks again for the detailed edit and the lessons learned.
Hi Dave, thanks again for this great tutorial! Yes, I would be very interested in a video describing when to use a color mask, vs a zone mask vs a luminosity mask.
Happiness is TK Friday! This is a great full edit tutorial. I enjoy seeing you find and solve problems one at a time. Count me as a YES for a tutorial discussing the different types of masks. Especially the Luminous vs Zone masks. Thanks Dave!!!
Many thanks for this weeks edit - enjoyed it and learned ......Yes Dave i would be interested in you doing different vids on and when too use the different tools .
Hi, Dave. Excellent video again, my friend. I would really like that you made a video about the different masks. It would make me, and many others, really happy, man. Thanks for the video's you make and not alone about the TK panel I also like the videos about PS and LR. Greetings from the Netherlands, Antoine.
Dave...another great tutorial...these have been "mind expanding" for sure and I've been applying many of the techniques and approaches to editing learned from your channel...Of course a new video with masking techniques would be welcomed! Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!
Dave, certainly WOULD look at a 'when to use certain masks' tutorial. Also, would like to see what you consider the 'rules of usage' with that tutorial.
As always, your ideas are inspiring for further work on the recorded images. It is even more a good idea to show when and what mask to use. As always, greetings from Poland from the city of "Przemyśl Fortress".
1. I'm interested Dave in viewing a workshop you would do on different masks. 2. The grey brush is a very useful tool to apply local adjustments to dodging/burning in my view.
Dear Dave. Congratulations on your channel. Suppose I have to perform the same operation through the TK8 panel to a series of photos. For example, balance and contrast. We select gray 3 and apply to a new layer of color grading. If I want to record an action with these steps and a stop to adjust the levels of shadows, midtones, and highlights, I can't. Any settings applied through the panel are not recorded in the actions. Is there any way to fix this? Because a lot of time is wasted in always repeating the same operation. Thank you so much
Tony could answer this better than me, but the way I understand it it isn’t possible to record TK Steps into an action. I believe it has to do with Photoshop and not the TK8 Plugin.
Great videos! I downloaded your before after atn action but don't know how to put it in the TK actions in the TK panel. Do you have a video for that ? Thanks
I have a strange question...my icons in TK8 and toolbar are larger than seen on your screen. I am using a PC and was wondering if they can be resized? Thanks and keep this wonderful tutorials coming!
Thanks John. I don’t believe they can be resized. It may be due to the pixel dimensions of you computer monitor. I am using a 5K iMac and so they may appear smaller.
HI Dave, Nice video. To me it's a bit over the top, but I understand you need to accentuate things for illustration. My concern has to do with Topaz Photo AI. I have sent Topaz a couple of suggestions/requests to no avail. One problem is that the program does a poor job selecting subjects. I find myself having to add to the subject selection too often. The other need is for the program to have a cancel/delete button to allow shutting the program down at any point in the editing process. I find myself closing the entire program with the red window closing button. Having a cancel/delete button would be an easy fix, eh? Or, am I missing something. Thanks.
Hi Dave, Another great video. I look forward to Fridays because I know I'll learn something new. Today was no exception. I do have a question. I recall at some point over the last 15 months you had a video with I think, a downloadable action for turning on a clipping display. I've searched, but could not find it. Can you direct me? Tony Donald is right. It is not an action but it can be found on both the TK8 Combo and CX panel. It is 2nd button on the top left side of both the Combo and CX panel.

Thanks for that, Dave. And, yes, a video on what to consider when picking the right masking strategy would be very much appreciated.

Your idea to present a tutorial on the use of various masks is great. I am interested. Thank you for today's tutorial.
Hi Dave, thanks again for this great tutorial! Yes, I would be very interested in a video describing when to use a color mask, vs a zone mask vs a luminosity mask.

love your enthusiasm
Thanks again and waiting the next one!!
Dave, I would definitely like to see a video on different mask types and when you use them!
Hi Dave. Would love to see a video covering your method used to choose which mask to use for various situations.
No new comments Dave, always a "Joy of learning". God has blessed you for us 🙏🏻
Thanks for another great lesson. I would love a lesson on using a mask type for the right situation. I find myself guessing in some cases.
I would like a video on when to use the different selection/masking tools. Thanks for asking!
I would be very interested in the workshop when to use luminosity masks vs zone masks, etc....Thanks!
I agree that a masking video would be helpful. I find the gray bush very useful and use it to blend and tone down brush work.
Masterclass.

Hola Dave, seria muy interesante saber que tipo de mascara aplicar en cada momento, color, zona , luminosidad, gracias.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for the Super Thanks Steve.
Dave,
Why do you lower opacity vs flow when painting through a selection? Great video by the way. Carl
I feel I get more control with opacity over flow. Of course you can use a combination of both if you need more control.
Great videos! I downloaded your before after atn action but don't know how to put it in the TK actions in the TK panel. Do you have a video for that ? Thanks
