As an XC90 owner, I think Sofyan's expectations rant towards Volvo's powertrain performance is unreasonable. Volvo has hitched their corporate wagon to turbocharged, supercharged, and electrified versions of their 4 cylinder engine. The XC90 doesn't compete against the Mercedes GLS or BMW X7. The Audi Q7, new Cadillac XT6, Acura MDX, Buick Enclave Avenir, Infiniti QX60, Lexus RX, etc., are better premium/near luxury 3rd row competitors for the XC90 (especially the Momentum and R-Design trims).
J High as another XC90 owner I agree. Plus part of the joy of owning a Volvo is the owners take pride in not taking themselves as seriously as Benz and BMW owners. Look at the Prancing Moose for example.
Who cares about more noise and 0-60 in 4 sec....let's have a pleasant drive and good mpg.....and be able to use regular gas or diesel...and of course a great audio system, a SUV one can take for 3K round trip and the short trips .....People who ask for noise and power ( as well as large low profile tires) probably only drive like 100 miles per year and are concerned about what race head people think...while others laugh at them for buying substandard vehicles for expensive maintenance and daily cost price

The soft closing doors and power tilt steering wheel aren’t really necessary. They just add to the cost and are more things to malfunction. Volvo adds other nice little extra touches instead.
Hey, not fair! The BMW X7 starts at almost twice the price! Much better than the pedestrian Country Squire and even the fancy Thunderbird driven by my Ford Family. It's good to see Volvo is still alive, well and producing lovely cars. Dang it! I wanted to see him reach the hood to close it after the wind blew it fully open! And sometimes I don't understand some of the opinions espoused here. Why would Volvo, of all brands, want more engine noise in their top of the line SUV? I don't get it.
Best keep noise to a minimum, only very a remote engine noise with slight variation is acceptable. I drive a Volvo and don't want conversation intruded upon by engine noise, or radio/music drowned out by fake engine sounds. I think soft close doors is a waste of money; since when did people need there doors to shut for them? Waste of time, money and weight. Another thing I think is useless is a power tilt and telescoping steering wheel; how much do you use that function? Plus when I use a manual unit; it’s faster to just move a lever and adjust the steering wheel rather than use buttons. But, I strongly agree that the armrest is needed in the second row. Captains chairs need armrest. Love your program, thx

It's aged well, though I wish the refresh was more thorough. They should have added the new Android powered Sensus system, and I'd personally love to see more XC60 inspired interior bits (the flowing wood panel and vertical metal air vents). Though I read 2022 will be a full update and include level 4 autonomy; Volvo claims to have skipped level 3 entirely because they think it misleads the driver into thinking it can 100% drive itself and ultimately isn't safe *cough*Tesla*cough*
You keep saying, over and over, that it's hard to notice the differences in the "refresh" for 2020, but an actual owner/user plugging in every night should notice that the battery capacity has been increased from 10.4 to 11.6 kWh -- not a huge increase, but enough such that some extended all-electric range should be had (should be a couple miles of extra range, which -- when you're talking only about 12-15 miles in the first place -- can be useful for people who have, say, 20-mile commutes each day). Shame on Volvo for not getting this up to more like 15 or 20 kWh, however... Even the much smaller Chevy Volt was able to pack in an 18.4-kWh battery for that PHEV.

Excellent and very thorough review!
I love mine but it’s a bit small as a family vehicle as we are getting larger each year thx to super size food trend
how much discount did you get off the MSRP for your T8? I am planning to buy one and want the info as a reference point.
Strange no arm rest in the second row

I think he mentioned he was in Stevenson Washington
Who gonna tell him that engine noises are fading out? Electric motors mean no sound 🥵
This is not found in Saudi Arabia
The nappa leather is the same as in Bentleys
It's aged well, though I wish the refresh was more thorough. They should have added the new Android powered Sensus system, and I'd personally love to see more XC60 inspired interior bits (the flowing wood panel and vertical metal air vents). Though I read 2022 will be a full update and include level 4 autonomy; Volvo claims to have skipped level 3 entirely because they think it misleads the driver into thinking it can 100% drive itself and ultimately isn't safe *cough*Tesla*cough*
It has some similarities in the interior on some Geely Car models.
This car is gorgeous inside and out! I really like it but I don't like that they only offer a 4 cylinder. Come on Volvo!
I thought this competes with GLE, Q7, MDX, etc? Volvo is building a bigger 3 row to go against GLS or X7
15:52 the bloopers start. lol Love when Sofyan keeps these in. Great review as always
Hi Sofyan, can you please share the name of the opening soundtrack? Thank you!
That's "The Escape Plan Activated" by Grant Newman from an EP called "The Battle Of The Nile".
