Hi Jerry! Have you done any tutorials on using the Gen2 hoop to embroider on the backs or sides of these hats? Specifically, the mesh type hats. I have the back hoop piece. Thanks!
Hello Jerry, great video and very informative. I also have the flat brim hoop and I was wondering if you could do a video on how to embroider on the back of a hat.
Jerry, your videos are fantastic! I just picked up the PR670E with this hat hoop as well. I'm trying to figure out how close I can get to the brim without having to have the override clip you talked about in another video. Any tips on getting closer to the brim without the clip? Thank you!
Hi Tanya! I have the original wide brim hat hoop, and the closest I could get to the bill was about 1 inch. The Hoop Tech Gen 2 hat hoop, I was able to get to about 0.75". Without the override clip, I am unsure how close you can get as I have not tried it without the clip. With the override clip, I was able to get to within 0.25" of an inch.
Love your videos. Just got the brother pr680w and have this hat hoop that came with it. Is there a way to do the back of the hat or the side of the hat? I saw you said you use another brand hoop. Do you know if this is compatible with my type of machine?
Hi Antoinette! I have not tried using the flat brim hat hoop for side or back-of-hat embroidery. The hoop I use for side/back of hats is manufactured by Hoop Tech. However, please note - their side and back of hat hoop will not work with the new flat brim hat hoop from Brother, as it is made for the wide hat hoop. The dimensions of the driver (round assembly that attaches to the machine) are different between the wide hat hoop and the flat brim hat hoop.
Hi Jerry, great video and lots of excellent information on your channel, thank you for sharing it. Jerry, I am hoping that you would be so kind and answer on this comment, I was not able to find an email address for you so that I can email you directly and talk. I just setup my new brother PR1055X, all good so far, till I got to setting up the needles and locking in color. I was able to setup all 9 needles, but number 10, it will not lock in and or save the color thread once I program it. I rethreaded the whole setup on needle 10 a few times just in case there was something I missed, but still not working. Would you have any idea or suggestions that you can possibility offer and help me ? Thank you for any help you can offer.

Thank you!! How do you embroider the back and sides of a hat?
What I use to embroider the back and sides of hats is the Hoop Tech "back of hat" hoop. It works great and is very easy to use.
What are the best hats to embroidery on?
We have embroidered on all types of hats, from the "no-body" hats to Richardson-style, and they all work great.
