Sounding Out Words: Grapheme Breaking, Phoneme Segmentation - Mr. B's Brain

For phoneme segmentation, block the CVC word (bottom portion of the screen) with another window or manually. This would be phonemic awareness, no visuals/symbols/letters, pure auditory play with words. Once the visual representation is introduced (graphemes/letters) it becomes a phonics activity.
Sounding out words is one of the major staples in the grades I teach, kindergarten and first grade. When you do anything a lot, even when it is important, it can become tedious. Once boredom sets in, we as teachers are really fighting an uphill battle. So here are some fun ways to practice sounding out cvc words. What other ways can you and your students/kids think of to spice things up?
This video is for cvc segmenting. It is appropriate for sounding out words for kindergarten, or sounding out words for 1st grade. Any child working on word segmenting can benefit from this, and hopefully have some fun while participating.
