Both of my Parents would have been in prison. A broom? I've had brooms, paint cans, spatulas and of course belts. Fists came later. But when they spoke I listened. I've never been arrested or anything. Turned out pretty good I think.

To the Mayor and Doctor: You have a stupid attorney, with him admitting the need for "privacy" in this case. Abuse requires privacy, especially, abuse of a minor. VICTIMS deserve media privacy, not PERPETRATORS.
The public already KNOWS you both consider it a "private" matter, but as with all child abuse perps, you seek to avoid the cold light of day. I would argue that you're both abusing your public offices, because you're both trying to use those public trusts as a shield from law and order. Well, I don’t put it past the mayor and his superintendent wife. When I was growing up, my Pentecostal pastor/father used to string me up by the ankles and beat my unclad body with his belt until he would become tired. Then, he would throw me on the bed and pound me with his fists until I would pass out. All the while, his wife, my mother, would be downstairs hearing me scream, but offering no help or intervention. This scenario was a common occurrence in our home. Then, on Sunday, my parents would go to church and praise the Lord. The beatings that I endured were not for dating a boy whom my parents didn’t like, or for “wanting to do what I wanted to do,” as some have assumed that the young lady in this posting might be guilty of. Rather, the beatings that I suffered were for minor infractions such as forgetting to hang up the skirt I had worn to school, or accidentally knocking over my drink at the dinner table. My point is that NOBODY can look at another adult and certify that the adult is conducting him/herself in a respectable, humane manner. No matter their station in life, or their educational achievements, there are many adults who are not emotionally and mentally stable enough to be parents.

My ex husband's step daughter accused him of abuse when he put his foot down about a boy she was hanging around with that was giving her drugs.
This boyfriend provided video evidence of the abuse.

This affects the community. This couple should be leading by example and they cannot do that right now. When you step into the public arena you are expected to hold your self to a higher standard.
You cannot beat another adult with fists, brooms, throwing them down flight of stairs, hitting them with fist to their mouth and into the girl's breasts!?! The mother sexually assaulted her doing THAT! ANYONE would be arrested immediately for criminal abuse...so WHY would it be "ok and private" when you do it to a kid?! You can limit a curfew, you can send them to all girls school, take away driving priviledges, give them chores, no allowance, cancel internet and phone, send them to a relative, go into family counseling...BUT IT IS NEVER "OKAY" TO PHYSICALLY, SEXUALLY AND EMOTIONALLY TRAUMATIZE AND ABUSE ANY CHILD...THAT SHOULD BE VERY CLEAR FOR AN EDUCATED WOMAN RUNNING A PUBLIC SCHOOL...AND A MAYOR WHO CAN HIRE AND FIRE EMPLOYEES FOR CRIMES THEY COMMITTED! @@galeabernathy3921but what's actually in the video evidence? Actual, video of the physical violence? Or just the verbal threats, not that that is ok either. It will be interesting to see during the trial. That being said after hearing the attorney only addressing the ability to perform mayoral duties and not flat out denying the physical abuse allegations is somewhat telling on the guilt of the parents.
Many need to go to school to learn how to parent. Dating is a natural part of growing up. If they didn’t want them dating then should’ve had rules like no dating until after graduate high school. Or maybe compromise only have supervised outings.

The fact the boy supplied information about them might just show who actually is the problem and it's not the teens.
There are always people who make excuses for abusers and usually it's the one's who have been raised the same way ,thinking violence is the answer. There is a difference between spanking a child and punching and throwing someone by their hair.

A lot of people who talk family values treat children as property. Owners typically feel entitled to damage property without legal complications. If the property complains, teach your property to keep family matters secret. Some claim secrecy is protecting the alleged victim, or that all such complaints should be ignored since sometimes kids lie. These child owners seem to believe that children who aren't abused make up horrific stories all the time, while parents who're criminally assaulting children NEVER lie. Apparently the kids who are being abused aren't expected to tell anyone for some reason.
Spanking children has shown time and time again to be harmful for a child's mental ability and emotional control.
It's the people that perpetuate generational trauma rather than change it that are the problem.

If found guilty the mother who is a school superintendant and treats her daughter that way needs to resign. The principal that did not report the abuse needs to resign.
