- I was really disappointed in the multiplayer feature in DISNEY Dreamlight Valley, testing out the limits of valley visits in DDV, how to visit each other's valley and how to get Pixel shards in Dreamlight Valley multiplayer.

Brilliant post. Exactly. Even the biomes are so small, I couldn't even place my fairy house anywhere except in the middle of glittering sands. Like in the middle. 😡
The only way someone could help you is if they have the item in their inventory and then drop it on the floor for you to pick up (i needed a crap and my sister helped me out, couldn't do the quest of course but had the crap to finish the quest of... so its something)
so... playing scramblecoin together is still a option? o.o can the other player throw the stick and a friend can pick it up and bring back? will be a great minigame, pluto can teach you special fetch skills and movement boost with levelsystem and ranking.

Can we just return to the title screen or quit game altogether while in someone's valley, without it messing with my game (yes, as long as I save before so) when done? Or will the host need to disconnect the connection for us to leave?

Delete all trees there and leave only 4 dead trees on the light pavement. This way you can see the dark wood better and they aren't spread around all of the Forgotten Land.

Seriously needs an in-game chat system, if they are to have any hope of convincing new people to buy it based on “multiplayer”
its a nintendo sort of "multiplayer" nintendo still has no chat options with friends or anything because every other player could be a criminal who hurts the childrens playing or whatever reason there is but.... yeah i think animal crossing has a chat...so its a very rare case to see it and valley is a copycat so they should copy this chat too.
FYI: I have a friend who works on the game and he said that they were forced to release today. They wanted to push the release to next year, so expect bugs…that also may be why multiplayer seems unpolished. 🤷🏻♀️
I hope they will make multiplayer events like Animal Crossing's Bug Day or Fishing Day.
Seems like they turned off all the functions in multiplayer, so you can't do anything. If you can't do anything, then there wont be bugs.
Glad they released the update…but I definitely wouldn’t have minded waiting on multiplayer.

I'm not interested in multiplayer but to 100% the catalog, I'll have to find someone's valley to visit to collect the pixel shards .. unless an update allows for the shards to be obtained another way.
Yeah, I'm going to be so disappointed if there is no other way of getting them. I hate multiplayer games and I don't even have other cozy gamer friends anyway.

pixel shards are hard to find and you hardly get any, I found it not worth it.
While it's similar to AC, it's more limiting. In AC there were some items multiple people could buy from the shop and some they could only buy once, but then they could drop that item, everyone could pick it up and it then went into their catalogue so they could order it later. You could also take pics and swim together.
There was so much etiquette because of this in acnh 😂 everyone asked if they could shop upon arriving on the island and like you said people normally let everyone pick up the item so they got a copy in their inventory. At least people got to be sweet lol even if they shouldnt have had to.
@Morri78:well i mean to be fair in DDLV multiplayer isn’t even fully done yet and it was still put into the game I think AC had more time to complete multiplayer before it released multiplayer DDLV seems to still be working on multiplayer itself
To be fair, it's actually exactly what i thought it would be. I knew Scrooge item sales would be limited, and overall, multiplayer has exactly the features that we knew it would. I agree that it's too bad we can't do quests or decorate while others are visiting, but hopefully that's still something they might consider changing in the future. Regardless, I actually think it's pretty fun to see other people's valley, even if it's only for inspiration at this point.
I'd even go as far as to say I'm currently pleasantly surprised, at least with how well it runs - I'm on PS4 and have a very slow internet connection (took me ~3 hours to download the update, for reference lol), and not only was I able to visit other people AND host 3 people at once in my valley, but one of the people I visited was actually on PS5, and had a fully-decorated valley. When joining I got a pop up warning me that they have the item limit increased, but it still let me do it! And granted, it was a bit laggy at times, but overall it worked really well! I never got disconnected or had any major issues, so as far as I'm concerned, as a first step towards multiplayer - I think it's actually a great start. It seems like the servers are fairly stable, and the trades are working as advertised (bought stuff in a few stores so far, had no issues; had people buy at mine with no issues; dropped stacks of yams everywhere I went with no issues lol).
Hopefully they'll add some other features in the future, so that there's more to do, as well as an in-game chat and/or emote function, so we can communicate with each other more easily.

😂😂😂 it wasn't what we expecting at all idk how u think we expected this crappy multiplayer they promoted it way too hard and we can't do anything it's not good when we have activated we can't do anything in our valley even if we don't have anyone there it's plain stupid and do not speak for all of us either u might be ok with it but alot of us didn't expect this we expected a lot more
@swaggyaliens2563 It's what I expected, personally, since it was advertised as laying the foundation/first step of multiplayer. The only features mentioned for this first update, were valley visits, being able to trade dropable items, and being able to shop in each other's Scrooge shop. All these features were indeed implemented, and seem to be working as intended.
As I've literally said in the comment you're replying to, I too was disappointed that we can't do anything else while people are visiting, and that I hope they do adjust that fact, as well as add more things to do with friends in the future. It doesn't mean I can't still appreciate the positives - aka, having all the features we expected actually working as intended, or the performance overall being fairly smooth.
I don't know where you got the notion that I'm speaking for other people, obviously I can only speak for myself and I've never claimed otherwise.

@micron000:we can’t even tools by ourselves if we have the valley visitor station option since certain stuff is locked even for us who is in our own valley with valley visitor station portal open so I mean to be fair on that one
I really wish that they switched up the clothing items to be displayed again, even if we already own them. At least our friends could buy them from our store too if they're missing something
@laididee:that could still happen since multiplayer in DDLV isn’t entirely done yet so that could be something they could do later on for an update for DDLV for multiplayer since multiplayer wasn’t complete before it was put into DDLV itself

I don’t know where people got the idea your Scrooge store would have unlimited items for people - I’ve always assumed there would be only one, which you could gift to another if you already had it. I think that makes sense to me. Otherwise everyone could get all the items after a day or two, which would make it all pointless.
Saying that, I’m looking forward to what else the include in the future!

Multiplayer is what i expected it to be - what they advertised. You can tour your friends valley, and buy things they didnt from scrooge. Why anyone thought scrooge would have an infinite supply of items on display is beyond me...
Yeah.. they must have did it that way so that we can’t help each other finish quest and Dreamlight duties..
It makes sense.. otherwise, influencers etc could finish collections in days by hopping valley. 🤔😜

But there’s also the fact that multiplayer isn’t even done yet in peoples opinions since it wasn’t ready to be put into the game when they released a rift in time and there’s a lot of bugs to multiplayer so. Also there’s no rush to finish quests it seems like so I don’t think it has anything to do with helping each other out with quests by valley hopping lol I think it’s the fact that multiplayer wasn’t ready to be in the game yet and the trailer makes multiplayer look more exciting and fun so I don’t think they are entirely done with multiplayer since game wise it has bugs to it.

@@angrymuppet4209 Iam just saying I don’t think they are done yet espeically with scrooges store for multiplayer since someone said the creators were forced to release a rift in time most likely earlier and most likely before multiplayer was fully finished since the creators probably had too many fans asking about when part 2 of the game would be released,when multiplayer would be added in to the game
Multiplayer is exactly what they said it would be. I don't understand why people are disappointed and shocked. It's a great start and the way Scrooge store works makes perfect sense to me.

They said they had more plans for multiplayer eventually, but I'm with ya. Working as advertised. People can tour your valley and can browse scrooges store. Not sure why people thought this would be a full blown mmo with questing lol
@@WilliamBowles People just expect the bare minimum with most multiplayer/co-op games, even ones of this genre. Defending no chat and no Tool usage or being able to move more freely is weird... it's a decently priced game & we have had MANY indie games with the same features earlier (games been out for 3 years no)? Idk what other games you have played...
Companions not working is weird, though. Scrooge's shop I understand why it's limited, though I do wish you could have more of a pop-up/warning for the non-buyer.
@@sommerblume9671 "I don't know what other games you've played" LOL I would ask you the same thing, because expecting devs to over deliver on things they never said would be included makes you seem naive and new to the gaming world. They said it would be bare bones at launch. You can hardly expect developers to keep their words these days, let alone over deliver.
@@WilliamBowles Sure they delivered on what they said but that isn't what anyone's point is. Why not also work on the basics of multiplayer? It's a glorified touring simulator with bugs still present. But ig you don't care about promising to under deliver & bugs or other games of the same or similar genre having more features at launch?
And i've played shitloads. From indies/early access to the big MMOs/RPGs or triple As and the older singleplayer CRPGs etc. I don't have massively insane standards but this is disappointing and many agree while it's what they said they'd do it's lacklustre. Idk how you can defend this especially since multiple bugs are still present.
Nobody is asking for a full blown mmorpg. Just basic features to be added & bugs to be fixed.
You can see their decorated valley with valley tours is what I knew it was gonna be. That’s the point. They said it would be limited in the beginning so idk why people are so crushed
I feel like they needed a chat system, and being able to take photos and sit in chairs and stuff would of been nice. It is fine that it is just an early version of it, but it is a little too bare bones.
My friend and I were joking about when the multiplayer came out how we would be able to fill the valley with pumpkins together as a joke so I'm disappointed.
But there's also the fact that you can't even talk to the characters? Pick things up? Like idk I think people would think it would be a bit more like Animal Crossing.
Well I have no friends playing this game so well.. ahah I'm not that distant because i knew i won't be using it.
But im annoyed i can't remove the horrible thing tha Penelope make us put in the valley to access it..
And also im annoyed i won't get picel shard, so missing some ''items'' or whatever we can do with them
what at least should have been in multiplayer, be able to interact with villagers workbench chests at least the host, enter buildings freely maybe input that inside the house no one can picks up things. Able to use tools and farm together , Scrooge shop buy for all players , fast option via ingame menu
Imagine someone comes over to get Items from you for their quest and you forgot to take them out of a chest before they join
it probably won't let you drop a quest item- they don't let you sell them so i assume it won't let you drop them in another valley
ACNH was the same. You couldnt interact with many things at all with island visitors. So I'm ok with it. You could shop and fish....that was about it.
Also in ACNH you could add people to your friends list and give them a higher privilege in which case they could do a little more like dig I think on your island.
The shop was the same. Either you or the guest could buy something and that was it. Both couldn't purchase one item.
I would like to see multi-player expanded but coming from ACNH this is exactly what I expected
In ACNH you could pick up furniture items and talk to villagers, they would even remember who visited a few days after and talk to you about your friends
They should have increased the number of orders from Scrooges from 25 to 50 since we now have 2 shops.
Yes! That 25 limit is ridiculous.
But the person who's visiting cannot ''order'' just buy what's on the shelves if I understand correctly. So there's no logic to increased that limit (even tho I'm ok I don't get why there's a limit, but the multiplayer doesn't change anything)
@@audreysamandler right. But what I’m saying is (for the people who bought the expansion) since we have 2 shops, we should be able to order double from Scrooges.

Yesterday I didn't get into the game before the update because I wanted to potentially have new furniture. And when I opened the Scrooge's shop in eternity isle it was exactly the same items as the one in my valley ... So 🤷
They deliver and maybe later they do more for multiplayer. Now you can record video in other people places, about how they decorate their place. that’s a good thing
I don't know if you caught this on the DDV blog today "Quest items, expansion items, pouches and unique items cannot be picked up by visiting players." So thats not a concern and it says you can only collect the shards when you are in someone else's valley.

I don't like the "report" feature on switch at least. My kid accidentally reported me so now I'm panicking that some bad consequence is coming my way
This may just be the first iteration of multiplayer so it could just be bare bones right now and they'll add more things in time. In playing animal Crossing this isn't at all that different from the multiplayer there, except you could access all your tools and take pictures, I hope they allow that later, only best friend/trusted players could use tools in your island in animal crossing. The same with the store mechanic, only could buy one item and then it's gone except for two exceptions in the store that were unlimited in AC. I do hope they add more features to multiplayer like games and quests or at least like stardew Valley they can live there or a room for them, it seems even more limiting than those two other games.
Hmm I did hope you could use tools, but I suppose makes sense to not smash a rock they were saving for example. But we worked it out with ACNH you just had visiting etiquette, ask before you take anything, dig anything or pick anything up and always water their plants for them. It did disappear from the shop after being purchased too but you could also drop items so everyone could pick it up.
ACNH also kind of saved the island before visitors so certain things couldn't be done, you couldn't put fossils in the museum or add a visitor via the tent until they left. But it wasn't as limiting as this seems. I would expect you to be able to talk to the villagers without it causing issues though, so that's strange lol! I can't see the reasoning behind it at all 🤔
Hmm I think you could craft things too in ACNH when you had visitors 🤔
It was long winded in ACNH via the airport too lol, especially if it crashed when someone was over 🤦♀️ but considering its a number of years later I'd expect it to be smoother lol 😅
Hopefully they'll implement some sort of way to trade shop items, including selling copies to Scrooge, that would be amazing! 😊🥰
The scrooge store in multiplayer is the biggest disappointment for me... that is the main reason I was excited for multiplayer, so I could get items I've been looking for or share items that other people want. But if only one person can buy the item and then it's gone its kind of a useless feature...

But that's the point. If they let everyone get the same item, people who play multiplayer would have everything available way too quick. How is that fair to people who might not have any friends to play with?
I had a glitchy pixel duplicate as one of my characters favorite gifts today and I was like… really? lol what if I don’t ever do multi player, let alone 10 times??

Scrooge store: I told ya. Lol. I think I will wait until these bugs are fixed. Feels like we are still testing their product. Not nice Gameloft, tsk, tsk.
I hope they're gonna allow more in the future, but I did expect that the Scrooge store would be like this since it's the same in AC and just imagine everyone could buy everything in one day.. I'm excited for the future!

i understand the disappointment, luckily or unluckily i have no friends so i don't have any FOMO regarding multiplayer, tbf they did tell us it was an early build of multiplayer and they would constantly be adding features to it, but everything they told us we could do we actually can, now everyone can do valley tours and shop at each others Scrooge's and share materials, i think it's amazing for an early build personally, i'll be keeping an eye on my Scrooge shop for the big ticket items so i can share with the community
I am sure they will update it in the future, but honestly they should of stuck a chat box or something in there, so you could at least talk to people.
i agree but also sort of disagree? i think they were scared to add this due to it being Disney, we cant have people talking to children to protect their online safety and we cant have people using inappropriate words, i have no doubt they will add this later but they probably have a lot to figure out@@Lilitha11

Also I don't know if it's been mentioned but this is what animal crossing had with the store. It's very similar to acnh but there's chat and reactions. They can drop furniture on the ground that gets converted into a pickable leaf. In case you didn't know

This was definitely not what I expected.. I thought my friends and I would ya know be able to help each other with quests and stuff like that but its supposedly mostly focused on giving and taking items from others and it’s not all the quite fun.. and not let me tell you- I was EXCITED to get this but now idk..

In a way it makes sense that you can't both buy the same item in the store.. but at least you could buy what was a new item for you, that he didn't need.
When visitors can pick up the things you dropped, they can pick up all my flowers I placed in other biomes then where they spawned. I dropped them there to cover the ground to let the flowers from that biome spawn in a self made garden. So Incan not have visitors on my valley.

At a minimum they need a text chat, and allow you to take photos and sit in chairs. Right now it is basically like an alpha version of multiplayer, their is no functionality at all.
I have Autism, etc. and I use Xbox and Xbox game pass to play DDV. I have no friends on the console except one who I don't know personally and I don't think they even play this?! Ugh! :(
BIG QUESTION? Is there Crossplay? I mean can i Play with my Ps5 and Visit my Friend on Pc?
I just tested the multiplayer and honestly, the whole thing just feels very shallow to me. There is simply nothing of added value.
It's the same valley as always, but there is literally nothing to do or interact with. You are forbidden to enter any houses or talk to any characters. You can't communicate in any way in-game with each other. You can't use any of your tools. Entering the player's house or Scrooges store is only permitted by the host, which seems a bit absurd to me since the host already gave permission to enter their valley through a specific code. The only thing you can do is pick stuff up from the ground. So the only use I can think of for now is delivering items to each other. I know there would be limitations in multiplayer in comparison to singleplayer (as is often the case), but I didn't expect it to be SO limiting. It's basically a visitor-simulator.
I read in these comments that the development team was forced to release the multiplayer in this update. I guess they probably only could finished the literal 'multiplayer'-part, as in 'you can connect with another valley' and .... that's it. Don't get me wrong, the multiplayer works just fine without bugs or glitches, but that's probably because you aren't allowed to do anything. If their is no function, there is no immediate possility for a bug/glitch.
It's not that I'm upset or disappointed, but I don't really understand the point of the 'multiplayer' in this way. This can barely be called a multiplayer.
People who are happy with this, good for you. But I think if we're so quickly satisfied with this, we need to seriously consider why we're setting our expectations so low ...
No emotes to interact with, no chatbox, no way to forage….meh. I’m just playing the starpath until Palia fixes some new bugs
For a hundred bucks multi player is hugely underwhelming. Refund, refund, refund. I have heard they are going to add some features to it in the future, they had better.
They did say on the livestream that it was just to "show off" our world....I wasn't expecting to be able to interact with anything. Hopefully more will be added later - at least the base is there.
Mr.Starinsky at least on Animal Crossing you could go in and out of houses and shop without permission
they copy the terrible friend code required method from animal crossing new horizon instead of quickmatches or open servers who anyone can easily join but you are extrem limited to do things? nintendo does it a lot better, was also in hope to just relax and play scramblecoin with friends but nothing... to be fair atleast they add multiplayer other devs will still delay it endlessly or it will never be released so atleast the possibility is here to play together but beeing restricted by almost anything because of a friend joined the game is the wrong way.
its interesting so you cant enter building without the owner leading you inside, feels very inspired by north korea, there you are also like leashed to the leadingperson and other peoples not interact with guests is also like in north korea again plus beeing feeded like a pet or play fetch with sticks is also very strange to see here.
Unless you have the playstion plus’s you can’t use the multiplayer on PlayStation.

I cant get it to work, my son and I keep trying to connect to each other and its not working. And the code is constantly changing
The host shouldn't have to chaperone the guest...and Scrooge stock for guests should be separate....and I hate that they made an object the portal, I figured players would just use the plaza well, as that felt most fitting. Now I have some weird tech placed in my valley I can't remove, despite the fact I'll never use it because I have no friends lol

Me and my sister found the pixel shards, when she found hers.. mine was close by and same the other way around, you could change your outfit but theres not a lot going on in the online part.. heck you can't even sit on a chair.. let alone do anything else but hopefully they change this quiet quickly or within a few months
I'm so glad this I watched this before I started multiplayer myself my question is if you guys are playing on PC can switch and PC and switch and Xbox work for multiplayer. I'm about to try this out

Yeah this is very underwhelming. Basically, you can go to the store and pick up items on the ground. I was able to give a friend some dark wood. 🤷♀️ Ah well. Maybe in another 12 months. 😂😂
MrStarInSky I haven’t played with multiplayer yet, but from what it sounds like and looks like, it’s not what was expected. I’m curious about the pixel shards and how many items we can craft with them and if the items would be of any value, like for dreamsnaps, etc..
And this my friend is the full released game, out of early access... Oh wait, the game is still in early progress but they say it was ready for everyone 🤣gameloft do stupid shit... In speedstorm is this the same thing... Multiplayer is bad, not balanced, the private multiplayer has no modes, only you can change the map or speed, not the abilities or else, so its more useless and the microtransactions aww... First too high prices, now reduced but a facepalm for everyone that pays before... The only thing that dreamlight valley does better, is that you can earn the moonstones for daily chest or dreamsnaps... In speedstorm you get only 5 or 7 coins every level in multiplayer, but after msr 16 is this more work as fun and not worth it... Both are good games, but... You know...
At 19:18 when Jimmy was with you, you had the "pick up" for a pink shell, but walked away.. was it just really slow, or did it not work? Because the other things you tried didn't have the pop-up...
Disappointing , I need to join online Nintendo member to play multiplayer that’s mean another dollar to pay after pay expansion pack. Thanks for doing this so I know I won’t join online Nintendo player after I see worth to join . I will so upset if this multiplayer stop me to do my quest that’s mean they force player to join online nintendo member .
I'm surprised everybody is so disapointed in multiplayer. I mean yes there's a lot of things that could be better but overall I think it's pretty good. The main thing for me was to visit and see what other peoples valleys look like. I'm not surprised about the scrooge shop because in my opinion it doesn't make sense that if someone had something good on their shop they could just post a code to their valley and everyone could get the item. Then scrooges store wouldn't make any sense because everyone could basically get all the items they want really fast.
The valleyverse has pros and cons. At the moment you can just open your server and share the code and anyone could visit your valley and you can trust that no one steals or destroyes anything from your valley. I think it's good but it is a little boring that you can't do anything yourself. I wish we had some settings and we could deside what are visitors allowed to do in our valleys. Like you could allow strangers to only pick items and walk around like now or you could change your settings and let your friends to get into your houses or do some mining etc or even edit your valley. You could only give those rights to people you trust not to do anything bad in your valley. Multiplayer just came out so I think we are going to get new features in the future.
I have five pixels from multiplayer. I just started a second account for my nerves to use and I’m adding pumpkin seeds and coal to make it have money without having many quests completed (so they can do quests). Because I needed so much I visited multiple times and hoarded all the flowers. I managed to pick up five pixels in an hour of play. And transferring a ton of pumpkins ect.
I haven’t been able to get multiplayer to work at all, been trying it from one of my accounts to my other.. one on switch and one on Xbox, keep getting an error message.
Maybe they will add more features to multiplayer next year. It’s about what I expected though.
Sadly, new players can't multiplayer unless they have a certain character unlocked.
I was hoping that there would be on xbox the option to local co-op on the same device like other games do. Like that i can sign in on the same device with someone else and each have their own controller. It would have been more accessible for everyone to get the chance to collect pixel shards. But I don’t think that will be happening 😂and idk anyone else that plays ddv where i live (just me and my sister) so no multiplayer unfortunately.
WTHeck? I do hope this is just a start and they are going to be adding actions and being able to chat in the future.
They probably going to improve it along the way, like they said.
I tried this with my partner.. it was annoying needing him to let me inside buildings..I was hoping to atleast have the camera

I thought multiplayer on Animal Crossing New Horizon was also boring. So this doesn’t surprise me. The most fun I had on ACNH with visitors was when my son came to my island and conked me on the head with his shovel. LOL!

I’m in the Switch. It’s so buggy this version. It’s truly irritating! Both in the DLC or in the proper Valley. I didn’t know that the multiplayer could be causing this glitch as well. So irritating!

I saw the characters. one was definitely Scar.
What I want to know is A. If the visiting player buys an item from Scrooge that’s new to both of you does it add it to the host players catalog? B. As a visiting player if you talk to Scrooge will he sell items to you that you don’t have yet? For example, I have the flower lamp but my daughter doesn’t. If she goes into my world and talks to Scrooge will she be able to buy the flower lamp? This would be fantastic, especially for those of us that missed previous star paths.
I dont think the starpath items would be in the scrooge shop. At least the flower lamp isnt starpath to my knowledge. I might be wrong.

For the older devices, that's a hardware issue.
It’s a hardware issue. That is nothing they can personally fix
However if you have the rift in time then you have a new item limit on that valley 😊
I tried to use multi-player with friends, but it shows online purchase needed?? This is really a bummer. You need to spend more real money to play online multi-player.

It won’t allow you to go into buildings separately because the game loads those areas and despawns the outside whenever you enter as well as vice versa. The game was never designed to handle running multiple areas separately and the systems, especially the switch, likely couldn’t handle it.
The switch handled Animal crossing extremely well and you could go in and out of buildings freely with out your host I think dreamlight valley could do it it just needs more work
What’s interesting to me is this level of multiplayer would be super fun for my 10 year old nieces who basically play house / Barbie’s on Roadblocks. If Dreamlight were to continue to get more features to be similar to that, they would be so popular with a younger demographic.
I feel like this is pretty much exactly what I expected. It’s quite similar to Animal Crossing. I expected scrooge items to be gone after one purchase. The only reason I was excited for multiplayer was for showing off my valley and seeing others’ valleys. 🤷♀️ I feel like everything makes sense and I’m not surprised at all😅
