L has lost his own battle, but revealed most of the complicated mysterious puzzles in the case to his successors, so they collectively won the war. Personally I prefer the ending of the Japanese movie adaptation more as L sacrificed himself by writing his own name to postpone his death, so Rem couldn't kill him by writing his name again, that's how he drew or tied with Light.

Movie Light is so much better, like around Akiyama's level. @@devilshooter126m8 L finding out Kira needed a face and a name to kill isn't the genius galaxy brain deduction you think it is. All the criminals Light killed were broadcasted with their name and face, even Matsuda could put two and two together.
The answer, which I see no one talking about, to who truly is smarter is in the Yotsuba arc. The whole arc was just a bunch of episodes proving Light is smarter, Good-Light pulled off way better feats in this arc than L. Showing he's just as or even a better detective than L.
During this arc, Good-Light deduces that Kira can control people and kill them without a heart attack before L does, despite being on the case for way shorter than him. This is way harder to deduce than realising every criminal that died had their name and face publishised. Light even finds the Yotsuba-Kira before L does. Light is constantly shown to be at L's level or higher the whole arc, which kind of makes sense narratively, since he did high diff him in the end.

L reasoning is muddy knowing Light is Kira, while Light is working with a clear slate. That dulled L's detective reasoning, while raising Light's.
Also (i could be wrong haven't watch DN in some time) L knew Kira could kill not using heart attacks, but what he likely didnt know is that the Death Note can sudo warp reality to cause deaths that look like complete accidents, A car just happening being at the right place at the right time for example.
Regardless L knew Light was Kira, the only thing L couldn't do was arrest due to lack of evidence "dealing with MAGIC Forces he didn't understand" pops up again.
but lets say they gave L to act above the Law in efforts to catch Kira, Light would have been arrested very early on.

In the end even if the whole world is facing him, it's still unfair. You're eventually talking about humans vs supernatural human (Not a simple supernatural power but GODlevel!!!) so calling that an equal advantage when the god level power is equal to what you've just mentioned (Impossible this is a joke actually). So Light's loss in the end is because of his ego and impulsiveness, he could've used the shinigami eyes but he refused because of his ego, and even if he won, that doesn't mean he's smarter because of what I've just mentioned. L did more than any human could do against a man with a god power.

    • @HiroTheAnointed
      @HiroTheAnointed Месяц назад +3

@@Dr_Abdo_Ahmed I guess I see where your coming from but lol, screaming "God level" implies Light had an inconceivable amount of power, when in reality the deathnote just gives the user a method of killing individuals who's name and face you know and aswell as manipulating their actions before death.
And the manipulation aspect of the Deathnote isn't as broken as you think, there's rules in it that nerf its manipulation like...
People not being able to be manipulated into doing things they wouldn't otherwise normally do, aswell as anything that is physically and logically impossible, aswell as doing any actions that would lead to the death of others.
If you think about this this nerf is significant, means light can't just manipulate Matsuda to kill L or something. Light even thought of doing something like this in part 2 of Deathnote but trashed that whole line of thinking because of the reasons I stated earlier.
The Deathnote doesn't make Light an Omnipotent God, capable of insta-killing anyone he pleases like you imply. It's actually comparable to a sniper irl, if you actually think about it lol. Light still had to come up with the strategies, plans and avoid L's traps to win, not to mention he had to make sure Misa didn't get herself aswell as himself caught, which is another nerf he got.
Do you still think it was unfair, even after you contrast this to L's vast Funds and resources, authority over the FBI, Interpol and multiple Police forces, even in different countries. Aswell as Watari, don't forget Watari 😭🙏. No joke Watari is cracked asf.

Misa is nerf?!! Yes, she was truly stupid, but man aren't (most) of L's associates stupid, too. At least Misa isn't as stupid as Matsuda😂. (I'm just joking here)
To be serious, actually, without Misa and her so loyal emotion-controlled shinigami, Light wouldn't have been able to kill L at all due to his own restriction not to use the eyes.
And yes, when you talk about superpower like that, even if restricted by rules, but still beyond human realization. all humans are nothing against this hidden illogical power, especially with eyes that enable you to see their names.
I agree with you that L really has multiple resources, but it was clear that Rem's role is totally unfair. Even L's winning in the timeline of the Japanese movie adaptation, he didn't expect that Rem is going to do it, though because simply it's not logical at all. A god is emotionally manipulated by a human?!! I bet that Ryuk himself couldn't accept or realize that😅

To be honest. Once rem came I genuinely don’t know how L could ever win. Light essentially just had to make the connection for rem that “if L gets too close it hurts misa”. And rem does the rest. Which was not hard as misa is the second Kira. I feel like L had no way to win after this. L did amazing despite this, and outsmarted light several times. The only reason he wasn’t instantly killed was because of this brilliance, all while not knowing the rules of the game he was playing. So I can’t help but say L was smarter. There can’t really be a discussion about who wins without discussing this cheat code. I agree that light has shown far better feats of manipulation while l better feats of deduction. But 1. If a cheat code like rem was not there I’m convinced L would have won. 2. Ls intelligence was just more impressive to me, I often think imagine evil light was Kira, and good light was L who would win. Could he catch himself? I don’t think so, I don’t think he could even narrow it down to Japan, that requires an incredible amount of psychoanalysis that light never showed. He couldn’t get far at all I think. For me L >light

It is a very objective conclusion that L would have won without Rem. People view Misa as a liability, but her existence with another Death Note is what allowed Light to get away from the hole he himself dug. If we recap what happened until Misa appearence, L already had Light as his prime suspect. Lights actions didn't gave him much advantage at all. He basically created internal conflics that led multiple people to leave the investigations, but at what cost? Using police information helped L to reduce the whole Kanto region into people with connections to the japanese police. That triggered the FBI agents, that in turn led Light to kill them all and left the search basically to a couple of suspects. And what he had on L after those moves? He's nowhere close to get info on L. In the manga you can see so many little interactions between both and L was all over Light.
And Light masterplan to fake his innocence came with a HUGE price: revealing the Death Note to the world. Lol, L was about to easily solve the case with a couple of hours after acquiring the Death Note. Then everything Mello and Near were able to achieve was because of the rumors of the existence of the note.

@@brenosulzbacher agreed. Another thing that is often not mentioned is that according to the rules, rem only dies if her act of killing someone prolongs the death of the one she loves. @@bboywolf Dude, L simply went to Light and revealed himself, making it clear he was a huge suspect while also protecting himself from Light. If we use logic, all facts up until then pointed at least towards people that were investigated by the FBI agents.
Oh, so you really think Light would be able to keep this facade for long beign constanly watched by L? At what point would he be able to use wires again, cameras again?
The entire show have so many convenient windows for Light.
      - Going to the police in the exact 5-10 minute window of the day that Naomi went (Oh and maybe she could have left her phone number to the receptionists, huh?).
      - Like the FBI going to Japan without fake IDs (imagine Ray turning around in the subway "Penber is just an allias, you are under arrest").
      - Light knowing about the cameras because of his tricks in the door, which implies that his mom never entered his room in the entire arc.
      - L not putting anybody to follow Light as soon as the second Kira talked about how he found Kira, implying he found it, but didn't made contact yet. He conveniently remembered to do so the exact day after Misa went to Light's house.
      - The fact that they took Misa into custody for beign the second Kira and L allowed Light to roam unsupervised for a couple of days even though he stated that Light was now their clear prime suspect and that he would want to bring him in too. Why not do it at the exact same time you captured Misa, since you didn't had any connection before between Light and Misa, but now you suddenly discovered that the girl beigns suspect of beign the second Kira knew Light. L could have simply asked for Light to go together, since he was already visiting the task force to "help". L didn't asked since when he knew her, nothing. And we know why: the story would simply end there, because there would be no time to elaborate a plan.
And those are just the quick ones from the top of my head. Like I said, for how long would he be able to keep things, even if we deleted Misa? Light whole thing about getting close to the investigation was hoping he would find something about L or to get his trust. We know as a fact that L never trusted Light the whole story and that Light never came close to finding any clue about L past. Zero, nada. Meanwhile, L closed the gap very quickly. I mean, look at all those things that happened. They did because the story would be boring and would have to end. When people talk about to show and the story is to analyse the good points, but also the incosistencies. In a lot of those inconsistencies we can say they are believable, but extremely lucky, at least. Remove the conveniences of beign the protagonist and not beign able to lose, then think about how things could have unfolded.

I first watched deathnote in 2022- from that time - i went through countless comparisons between lawliet and light - to find out was smarter, but no satisfying answer came out but here below is my study:
When analyzing the intelligence and capabilities of L and Light Yagami from "Death Note," it's essential to consider various perspectives and contexts. Numerous outcomes and debates exist regarding who is superior, with some arguments favoring L and others Light. Additionally, the "Change the World" version of L (CTWL) is often considered the strongest, adding another layer of complexity.
    Raw Intelligence and Analytical Ability:
L: L's skills in deduction, induction, reasoning, and his analytical prowess are exceptional. He operates with a high level of intuition and logical reasoning, often able to draw conclusions from minimal evidence. His ability to psychoanalyze and understand the mind of his opponents is unparalleled.
    Social Intelligence and Manipulation:
Light Yagami: Light's strength lies in his ability to manipulate others and his understanding of social dynamics. He excels in strategic planning and using emotional intelligence to exploit people's weaknesses. His ability to create and execute long-term plans while staying steps ahead of his opponents showcases his strategic genius.
    Willpower and Determination:
Light Yagami: Light’s relentless pursuit of his goals and willingness to take extreme measures to achieve them is a testament to his strong willpower. This drive often gives him an edge in high-stakes situations.
    Broader Perspective:
In a broader perspective, both L and Light are geniuses in their respective domains. L excels in intellectual rigor and logical deduction, while Light excels in social manipulation and strategic planning. They represent two sides of intelligence that are not easily comparable because they function in different dimensions.
    Overall Conclusion:
L is unmatched in raw intelligence, analytical skills, and psychoanalytical abilities.
Light Yagami surpasses in social intelligence, manipulation, and strategic execution.
If forced to choose one based on a broader perspective of intelligence, it might lean slightly toward L for his exceptional deductive skills and raw intellectual power. However, recognizing the multidimensional nature of intelligence, it's fair to acknowledge that both L and Light are geniuses in their own right, each excelling in different areas. This nuanced view respects the complexity of their characters and the diverse forms of intelligence they embody
    Spectrum of Intelligence
Acknowledging the multidimensional nature of intelligence, both L and Light are geniuses in their own right. They excel in different areas, making a binary comparison inadequate. It's more accurate to view their capabilities on a spectrum:
Near vs. Light Yagami: Light outsmarts Near, demonstrating a more considerable difference in their abilities.
L vs. Light Yagami: Both have strengths that make them undefeatable in specific situations. L in analytical prowess and Light in social strategy.
in the end it's more like saying - Python vs Rust (L vs Light ) - both are good for ML so a single answer cannot come but instead we need a spectrum
but when it comes to Python vs C (L vs mello) - python takes upper hand because it has upper hand in ML

Just starting to watch the video, but I want to share my thoughts before starting:
L won. Both of them played well, but there is a key difference. L didn't care for his personal safety. Losing his life was not the same loss as it was to Light.
To observe who won we would need to see what their goals were going into this.
L wanted Kira caught and stop his killings. Light wanted to permanently change the world as the god of the new world.
While Lights work turned on its head once he was gone, Ls goal was fullfilled, even if not by his own hand.
L dying was losing a battle, not the war.

My question did ray pender touch the death note?

  • @CyberSpaceTroll
    @CyberSpaceTroll Месяц назад +9

I Believe Light to be smarter and to have come out victories between the two. Light never had the "advantage" to the degree that people make it out to seem. The death note is nothing but a gun, while Light is the shooter. The only time the death note/Ryuk intervened and actually helped Light throughout the story, is when he counted the cameras in Lights rooms when L. had bugged it. But even with this, Light already knew that L. had bugged the room, he just didn't know where and how many cameras there were. Light wouldn't have gotten caught, just would've had to deal with the cameras in a more difficult way. The death note isn't an advantage, its simply a tool that Light uses in a genius manner to do as he pleases. We see what it would look like when the "death note" is in the hands of someone incompetent(Mikasa), Similar to JJK when regarding the likes of Gojo and why he`s the "strongest". He`s the strongest because he`s Satoru Gojo, he`s not Satoru Gojo because he`s the strongest. We see another character(Yuta) with his arsenal and gifts and he doesn't perform nearly as well because Gojo spent his entire life mastering his gifts and powers to a degree that no other person even if they had his same powers could achieve. Its the same with Light no other person could do what he did with the death note at least not with his finesse and efficiency. People love to argue that L. was "playing a game in which he didn't even know the rules to". This isn't convincing considering the "game" wouldn't have been NEARLY as close if L. didn't have the resources of ALL of Japan and Light wasn't being jeopardized and costed the entire show by 3rd parties such as Mikasa and her Shinigami, and Mikami(the delete guy). Light has to spend the later half of there rivalry cleaning up the mistakes of other characters. L. is the one who had the advantage truly, he had the resources of all of japan, and didn't have characters in the show getting his way at every turn on the road to victory. I think the most impressive feat in terms of IQ in the entire show is when Light planned an entire 3 months ahead predicting the moves of just about every character in the show(helicopter scene), I personally haven't seen a feat from L. that's remotely as impressive than that. Don't get me wrong I think Light and L. are neck and neck just with Light having a slight advantage in almost every metric to consider. I think people don't realize how impressive Lights run was and seem to just discard it with "he had a death god/an advantage". While on the other giving L. every amount of charitability and grace even though Light was dominant between the two regarding there rivalry. Light made just one mistake through the entire rivalry with him and L. and that was in ep 1 or 2 when he killed the man on screen and L. was able to find his location due to that mistake. Other than that Light was never compromised solely of his own mistakes, it would be because of others or him trying to clean the mess of his subordinates. While we have Light literally making L. depressed and almost give up due to Light out smarting L., and a Shinigami threatening to kill Light if he couldn't save Mikasa from her current predicament(essentially fix Mikasa's mistake once again) in which he did btw.

Another one of ryukk intervention is the 13th day rule. It didn't make sense for ryukk to do that, his reasoning literally was that it "spices things up". Light, like you have said, indeed had alot of setbacks but that doesn't really matter as it's part of his own flaws, him thinking that everyone will act exactly as he planned it out, his ego in a sense. L is jepardized by the Kira task force as well, the imprisionment of Light as an example, would have gotten on longer without matsuda and aizawa (there is also the testing of the 13 day rule but I haven't read the manga for a while so can't really speak on that). L knew Light was Kira all along for sure (confirmed in the databook) and just have to proof it, which is challenged by none other than Light with every tool of supernatural nonsense he has under his disposal. It's fair to say that L is not having an easy time like you said, Light didn't just blunder in the early episodes.

    • @CyberSpaceTroll
      @CyberSpaceTroll Месяц назад

@@NormalPerson12391 Lights “set backs” were never due to his own flaws. They were always due to other people actions. You saying it didn’t “make sense” for Ryuk to act the way he did for the 13th day rule isn’t an argument because I can just throw it back at you by applying that to the random and irrational actions by mikasa and her shinigami. His ego was never a problem after he locked in, his ego was only a problem very early on in there rivalry(light and L), we see in the video that Light made that mental adjustment after the first 5eps.
      L. was absolutely never jeopardized by the police force. Every time the police was used against or an obstacle for L. that was because Light had made it so, due to him manipulating the characters in the show, while Light had to deal with all of Japan essentially from day one.
Sure L. Knew Light was Kira but the point is going over your head. Light would’ve killed L. So much sooner in the story if it wasn’t for Lights setback that’s my point. The “game” wouldn’t have been long if it was just Light by himself not being jeopardized the later half of the L arc. The language that you use is so predictable, “which is challenged by none other than Light with every tool of supernatural nonsense he has under his disposal”. The “tools” that Light uses are just tools without the use and finesse of Light himself, I assume you read my gun analogy, the death note cannot act on its own, it’s simply a gun in which light strategically shoots and uses. You say “supernatural” as if it’s an advantage, it’s not. Light never needed, I forget her name(mikasa shinigami) and he never needed Mikami, he had to use them to clean up mikasas mistakes.
It goes to show that Light was always smarter than L. not by a lot, but definitely by a noticeable margin. L. always knew that Light was Kira but this isn’t as impressive as you think. Light is always a step ahead never giving L. the evidence he needs to arrest him, Light is always manipulating and keeping the ball in L. court the entire show while being watched 247 by the worlds greatest detective and all of Japan. To be able to act and perform perfectly with nothing but brain power considering all of Lights setbacks and essentially having Batman on your trail is more impressive than having an insane deductive reasoning and suspicion(which I’ll give L. credit, his suspicions were true).

      Well….
      1. Ryuk helped to detect ray penber (which light didn’t notice). Gave light the hint Naomi gave an alias, checked cameras as you mentioned, gave the notebook to someone else, erased lights memories whenever he was in a jam, and wrote fake rules. Rem also killed L if he ever got too close.
      2. L had access to the world’s resources in ep 1. Then only japans to use in 2. Then when Kira killed the fbi members everyone abandoned him. He was left with a team of 6 detectives to help him. That’s all. Light did have a notebook that could kill magically, and also did indeed know the rules that L didn’t. It’s a far far bigger advantage. Think of how hard it must be to conceive of the explanation being supernatural at all, let alone figure out all the other rules.
      3. Lights feat with the planning was impressive af. But his planning was the following:
Ryuk will add rules to the notebook,
Ryuk will give the book to someone easy to catch, L will set me free and together we will find the person, I will get the notebook in my hand, I will be wearing the same watch and can kill the guy to retain my memories. Ps. Rem helped light again here by telling misa who Kira is. It’s a good plan, but Ls deduction of light to 1 guy out of billions in a few days is significantly more impressive.

Yes. Light is very competent with the death note, I never said he wasn't. Saying Light doesn't need supernatural as you put it is just wrong. While he does use it to clear up other's mistake, he still has to use it to manipulate the police in going against each other in order to get close to L, otherwise there is no way at all. Also please explain to me how Light would be able to kill L much sooner, I'm a bit confused on that.(Also I'm missing some other example of Ryukk being an absolute asset, my bad :(
The reason why I said L get jeopardized by the KIRA TASK FORCE, not the police as Light, like you said, manipulate them, is to show you how much of an impact they have on L's decision making process. Like the plotline when Matsuda sneaked in the Yotsuba tower, making L has to change his plan in order to salvage the situation. Him having to deal with Light's manipulation have also shown that he isn't sprinting towards victory like you said.

My issue with this and fiction in general is it depends on what the writer wants characters to do. We can’t make analysis like they are real ppl actually competing.
So the question who win is pointless.
That said, my analysis would lean more on how the writer played things out like the chess game. Then L had all the pieces to win. He needs not announce (as it was in the anime) to everyone the thirteenth rule will be tested. He should pretend that L is in the clear until the rule got tested. One wouldn’t reveal the intention of a move during a chess game. Rather only to trick or trap the opponent.
While it’s clearly an unfair game because Light can cheat by obtaining the eye to kill L. Instead he used REM because he has no problem using others to his benefit.
So the author intentionally decide to lengthen the story . L must lose.

L have to figure out a set of rule that he didn't know about at all while Light abuse the loophole and connection he have.

a Person has a noteBook and is able to kill people by writing a name in it.
There's no way in the world that you can find such a person......
ofcourse the most overpowered person is the author of the story that decided that Somehow.....
Kira must kill the people on the news.
if they didn't get the clue that Kira was in the kanton region of japan.
it would be close to technically impossible to catch kira.

God listening to this makes Light feel so much like a butt pull protagonist. It’s actually frustrating.
