Bog Bodies are still my favorite but she's right after them along with the Chinchorro. 😊 And as Catlin Doughty said that fits her perfectly: "There ain't no party like a Lady Dai party because a Lady Dai party is forever!" 😆
If Simon didn't want to be frozen, I think he'd want to be buried like this... being such a pain in the ass for everyone involved! Though I can picture it now... 2,000 years later, Fact Boy will still be educating people. Beard a little worse for wear, but otherwise in tact. It is an incredible feat, regardless of what one may think of the practice. The body was yet to go through rigor mortis as the bloating from the organs decomposing hadn't seized the joints yet. Contrary to popular belief, rigor mortis isn't permanent but lasts for around a week.
His beard wont be the worse for wear, it will never stop growing and 2000 years from now his beard will stretch over the horizon, keeping his scholars warm while they study
I watched a documentary on her before and it was really fascinating. the whole genre on chinese mummy documentaries are amazing tho (the part where they cut them open is disgusting tho)
Bamboo charcoal has remarkable qualities for preserving organic matter. Perhaps they have overlooked it's function here. Making bamboo charcoal also produces bamboo charcoal vinegar which is said to have almost magic actions.. perhaps it is the liquid.
Had an interesting thought regarding the wax model of how she appeared when alive. When discovered, did she actually look that good? Many times during the video Simon mentioned how she decomposed when exposed to air and I'm not certain how the current, decomposed version could be recreated in the form of the model.
@@Nate-bn5kk I thought of a few but I guess you could say they were in "bad taste" 😀 Didn't want to end up getting the cold shoulder, cause I don't like leftovers.
Ive seen a documentary on this mummy. Absolutely fascinating. There actually was another wet mummy discovered shortly after her and not too far away also in China.
That's the body of Sui Xiaoyuan, a magistrate who died in 167 B.C at age 60. His body was unearthed in 1975 and was found in nearly the same condition as Xin Zhui (his body was dyed red from the coffin fluid)
While not unknown, death from cardiac problems was not diagnosed as such until lately. Most medical records would classify it as "sudden death" on a death certificate, or note it as such in statistical studies. Heart disease was still not a common form of death, unlike today where it is the #1 cause of death in America.
Only on SideProjects would Simon ever say the phrase “Throw some spaghetti at a wall and see what sticks”, and not just say ‘Throw some shit at a wall and see what sticks’… cuz ya know… 🖐Formalityyyy🤚 lol
There was a medical article that stated giving a patient who had ulcerative colitis that if they where infected with whip worms it was found to cure the illness once cured the worms where killed off and it seemed to cure the illness.
Yeah.... do Simon Said that the Egyptian mummies are like Jerky, then wet Mummies are Pickles. And what a coincidence!? I just like wet mummies, I find pickles to be foul smelling, awful looking, and all around Unpleasant. Some Jerky sounds pretty good right about now!
The place down the street from me has wet mummy in stock most of the time, but I could never bring myself to try it. They swear it's not Uyghur, but I'm skeptical.
Suggestion... do attempt to eat or drink anything while viewing this. I got a big gulp of water right when he talked about the clear liquid turning brown.. I gagged.
Decomposition happening. The lips basically shrivel away and the skin gets pulled back to the skull giving that mummy that look. If you see pictures of Lady Dai when she was first studied, it's nowhere as bad as that.
