    Something Is Better Than Nothing
During one holiday break, a family decided they would work on an intricate jigsaw puzzle. They hoped this would be a fun opportunity to spend some time together. Their goal was to finish the puzzle before work and school started up again. During the first few days, everyone was all in. Then things started to slow down as they enjoyed other distractions. It looked like they would never accomplish their goal. But the family recommitted, and little by little, they worked on the puzzle until completion. Their motto became: doing something each day is better than doing nothing.
Sometimes the enormity of the task in front of us is so daunting, so overwhelming, that getting started and staying with it can feel impossible. Certainly, most of life’s difficult challenges and trials are much more rigorous than a puzzle. But the same principle applies: doing something is better than doing nothing.
Of course, in some circumstances, nothing is better than something. For example, there are times when a tense situation is best handled with silence and restraint, which are always better than saying or doing something in anger. But when it comes to improving ourselves or accomplishing a goal, even though we can’t do everything all at once, we can do something regularly, and that’s better than doing nothing at all.
An older couple has applied this motto to their physical health. Each day, they try to go for a little walk, stretch a bit, and move through their aches and pains. They have their physical limits, but they don’t let that stop them from doing something each day.
For others of us, it may not be a body but a relationship that needs strengthening. Here too, some small step toward healing is almost always better than doing nothing. And if that relationship we want to build is with God, there are many meaningful steps available: saying a prayer, taking a moment to ponder, reading from scripture, reaching out to someone in need. All of these small and simple efforts yield great results over time.
So when you feel like a task is too big, remember that putting it off for another day won’t make it any smaller. Progress comes by doing something, and that’s better than doing nothing.

I have some music in my background, and at 86 (and blessed with good health) I still treasure the choir and orchestra, and truly value the Spoken Word (ALL VOLUNTEERED). Love being able to go back to prior broadcasts, as I did, just now (02/27/22)

Good morning from sunny Columbus, Ohio. It's great to meet all of you from around the globe. Just a little history from 1976. I'm 70 years old and I had a great opportunity to sing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on special occasions in the 1970s, not as a member of The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, but as the baritone section leader (for 3-1/2 years) of 40+ young men in the Mormon Youth Chorus (MYCS). The youth chorus and symphony was for young men and women (18-30 years of age). We were basically a young Tabernacle Choir and had to accept the same requirements as members of The Tabernacle Choir. Back in the 1970's, The Tabernacle Choir members needed to: be 30+ years old, be worthy members of the Church, be willing to attend all Tabernacle Choir practices (Thursday evening rehearsals, etc), participate in General Conferences of the Church and scheduled performances (around the world), memorize all music in the Choir's main repertoire, and have a successful audition with choir directors. A Tabernacle Choir member could stay in the choir for a maximum of 25 years. A full compliment of singers in The Tabernacle Choir is 360 members. There were 360 members of the Mormon Youth Chorus, as well. MYCS traveled to choir performances, primarily in western portions of the United States. We were awarded Emmy's for many of our performances. MYCS began in the 1960s and ended in the 1990s. Dr. Robert C. Bowden was the chorus and symphony director of MYCS. The Mormon Youth Symphony became part of what is now The Tabernacle Orchestra at Temple Square. Many MYCS chorus members became members of The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. On July 4th, 1976 (Independence Day and The Bicentennial of The United States of America), both choirs (720 voices) along with The Utah Symphony Orchestra participated in a worldwide television and radio broadcast from The University of Utah Conference Center (now the Jon M. Huntsman Center). Yes, we sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," church hymns and other patriotic pieces. I was 24 years old in 1976 and was so moved that tears ran down my cheeks as all 720 of us sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." I don't think there was a dry eye in the audience. Those years were some of the best years of my life.

    Rev. 22:1-2
    1. And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
    2. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

It seems that RUclips inserts ads at moments in time that are very disrespectful to the performance. Obviously no thought given to when an ad fits into the performance. I hope The Tabernacle Choir considers posting on Rumble. I would rather watch a performance that is not butchered by poorly timed ads.
