Work outdoors? Seldom will you find a Forest Service employee in the forest. They are behind desks or maybe checking to see that campground fees are paid. When they do go into the 'forest' it is in a little truck and they pretty much don't get more than a few yards from the truck. If you do see a person in a Forest Service uniform in the forest look a little more closely and you will see 'volunteer' on the uniform.

It depends on what you do for the FS and the time of year. I can tell you civil engineers get out in the forest quite a bit during construction season. As for getting more than a few yards away from the truck... Let us just say you would not want to buy a used pair of used boots from a FS employee! haha

From our main page, fs.fed.us, click on Employment on the left side, then General Careers on the left side of the next page, and scroll down to Professtional. Then click on Hydrologist for more information.

The guy at 4:37 has perhaps the most stereotypical Washington State accent I've ever heard.
