    Hi Karen great videos ,we have change the 2 front spot lights in our caravan for new ones which have 2 USB ports
    in them ,just 2 screws to take out which hold your spots in,then disconnect the wiring , then just replace it for the one
    with 2 USB ports in them ,and they are nice and high out of the way for your cable,we have a great man called,Dan Trudgeon
    who shows how to replace the spot lights on a Vlog,we paid around £30 for two new replacements .
    Regards Kim&Chris

    Good on you for sorting this and for giving it a shot yourself. You'll find most jobs like this on a uk caravan relatively simple, and with 12v nothing that's going to kill you. Although I'd be tempted to wrap each new connection in electrical tape, and secure down to the inside of the cupboard somehow, so any rattling in transit doesn't risk anything coming undone.

    • @TravellingK

      Yes, I'm so glad I tried doing this job myself 😀Good tip about securing it more...

    We had a similar issue wanting usb sockets off the 12v. We replaced 2 spotlights with spotlights that also had a usb socket. Quite a neat and easy alternative.

  • @garth2876
    @garth2876 5 лет назад +4

    Nicely done. Need to be careful with how much load you add to the lighting circuit, but that USB socket will be ok, especially because you have LED lights.
    With solar power, it is best to charge your phone and other devices as much as possible during the day while the sun is shining and you have plenty of power, rather than running off your battery overnight.

    • @TravellingK
      @TravellingK  5 лет назад +3

      I use to charge my laptop in the mornings only, as it took so much power - but my new battery system is so powerful, I never need to think about it!

    Hi Karen, thanks for sharing a most interesting video and well done. Just recently one of the USB ports has started failing in our lounge room computer and will need eventually to be replaced. Fortunately, I won't have to drill any holes for that job. Anyway, wishing you all the best. Robert.

    Does your usb port only work when your light is on, or is it a permanent live as opposed to a switch live?

    Ideally your wireless router needs to be located next to a window, not surrounded by possibly metal that will reduce the signal.
