to everyone doubting they can make the songbird mittens: it really looks SO MUCH more difficult than it is! I consider myself pretty awful at colorwork, but got too inspired by Celine and just had to buy the pattern. Thought about it way too long... cast on to make a beanie with the pattern and oh my goodness... 2 evenings later it was cast off and blocked. If my dumb ass could pull it together so can you! Trust yourself!

@TSUNAMI-MAMI I used DROPS Lima with navy blue as color 2 and white as background color. Should have switched them around in all honesty, but got too excited about it working to unravel 🤣😂

So many beautiful finished objects! I wish I was as productive at knitting as you are. 😊
41:32 The difference in bloom between the cardigan and the Songbird mittens probably has to do with the dye used. With the mittens, there was little to no dye (depending on the original color of the fiber for the brown, but brown in general doesn't require too much). However, with the saturated red for the cardigan, it takes a lot of dye. Dye not only changes the structure of the fiber (so it's less fluffy), but the weight (which is why you'll often get less yardage from darker balls of yarn even though the weight is the same as lighter ones of the same yarn).
A little sidenote as to why this happens: Yarn companies choose a flagship color for a yarn line. They weigh and measure it. Those weight and length measurements go on all the labels and, from there, they legally only have to make sure one of those metrics (frequently weight, because that is cheaper for them) is fulfilled for the other shades. So, let's say they choose a flagship color that is Natural, with a weight of 50g and a length of 400m. The Red in that same line then only needs to be 50g, but its length might just be 325m. This is why variations in how many balls you need to complete a project, even in the same yarn, occur (something you sort of mentioned earlier in your video). Hope that info is helpful! 😊

Great round up- your projects are fantastic!
I needed something quick and easy today to use up stash yarn so have cast on a baby jacket for a friend who’s due imminently. It also has a cute bunny hat to match which I might make. It’s a free Bernat pattern on ravelry which is a bonus 👍
This year I want to finish some of my million WIPs and use my enormous stash- but you have made me want to try out Cardiff Cashmere- bad influence (in a good way 🤣)

I really loved the petiteknit dress you made-it's so lovely! I think I’ll try knitting one for my friend’s daughter too. About the cashmere: yarn in natural colors (all shades of beige, gray, and natural white) is usually softer and fluffier than dyed yarn, especially in bright colors. I wouldn’t recommend knitting cashmere too densely, the fibers need enough space to bloom. From my experience, cashmere becomes fluffier and softer with each wash (but always hand wash, of course). I hope this helps a little!"🫶

Thank you for sharing so many facets of your knitting life. You are truly inspiring and so positive! I’ve been busy knitting three ranunculus, two long sleeve and one short sleeve. I also was on the small scarf trend and made several mohair versions - Simply Irresistible- Mohair Ascot, Sweet L’il Scarlett’s and the Sophie Scarf. I also did a tweed Grab & Go Scarf that I love. Right now on my needles is the Fat Fur Hat knit in a tube with two strands of mohair - when complete it gets folded half inside and folded up making four layers on the brim, hopefully warm! Thanks for sharing your needle kit and accessories as well. I’ve invested in a few things like the pale needles on the swivel interchangeable cords. Love them! Happy New Year!

My plan for 2025 craft-wise is to finish the main WIPs I've got sitting around - a scrappy shawl, the second of a par of handwarmers, an old chunky lace acrylic blanket, a crochet cardigan (so nearly done! I just have to crochet the second sleeve and then I can assemble and do the button band and hem), and my first attempt at a knitted jumper. I do have a few other wips but I barely started them so they're not counted :joy: After that I want to start on my knitting wishlist, beginning with the Field Sweater in Malabrigo Silky Merino, possibly held with mohair I haven't decided. I'd also like to knit my boyfriend a polo shirt at some point.
Other that that, I want to get consistent at the gym, start reading again, and start practicing guitar/cello regularly. Right now I'm doing guitar during my lunchbreak and would like to do the cello on the weekends.
So, you know, not much. I think the key is not to panic and try to do it all at once. We'll see.
