Your Videos are what got me into Motopeds in the first place. Glad to see new ones up. This just cemented into my mind the survival rack is something I need, also to get on some much needed repairs to mine to get it back on the trails. Fun video enjoyed it. keep posting!
DAMMIT I've been researching 250 dual sports for years now and was about to finally pull the trigger on one until I just stumbled upon these motopeds. traffic in my town will be a thing of the past when I can weave in and out of the bike lanes
So... where is part 3? You know, the one where the riders describe the experience, how well the bike performed, how their butts and ears (noise) and bodies feel after the ride, etc. It would great to have a sort of wrap-up after going through the whole ride with you!
oh my gosh is that sunset beach???? I go there every year for boyscout annual camp!! btw I love motopeds I wish I could buy one maybe someday!! BTW great video!
What can I say? I have no words!! Looks like a dream! Please advise if you have any issue with the bikes? Any premature ware or any advice you have for the Motoped´s community. I just add to my playlist!! SUPER VIDEO!
I looked on the Motoped site and saw where you could put a 155HO Pitster engine in the Motoped. It said the Pitster engine has a Kawasaki top end and most importantly an E22 style bottom end which will fit the frame bolt pattern. I seen a RUclips video with that setup. Man! with that light weight, does it ever move! With the 50cc motor, it might be classified as a motorized bicycle. The larger displacement might be classified as a motorcycle. That info would vary from place to place. In Canada, you don't need a licence and insurance as long as the bike or scooter has pedals, electric motor that tops out at 32KM or 20MPH.
I'm buying one tomorrow. Survival edition with 125cc and moped licensed. In California a moped license is sufficient for 49cc which also means you don't need a MC license or insurance. Mine has a 125cc so technically I need an M1 motorcycle license (which I have) and insurance. I'll post a video soon.
I have a survival edition myself. Would love this ride since I used to live in Santa Cruz. Did you upgrade the stock motor or install a whole new motor? And to change oil, do you need to remove the exhaust under the motor?
I just saw part 1 of this and seeing this thing ride has surpassed my expectations, this is absolutely the best form of transport ever devised. I fucking love motorbike and bicycles and a combination of the 2 is just the best thing ever. Is the engine a 4 stroke? I think that if they were able to make an electric version which you could charge by peddling would be the icing on the cake, wouldn't even need fuel. Fucking amazing guys, really great video
Yes, they are four stroke engines. The bikes use a Honda xr50/pitbike style engine. The engines we used are the Lifan engines, which are a chinese Honda copy.
scatcat1994 They do make electric versions, just don't think they charge by pedaling, if they did it would probably take a hell of a lot of pedaling. I've seen some electric ones that were pretty damn fast and impressive. Rather have one of these.
IM confused I watched the sema show on motopeds and the survival bike is 125cc do they also make a 70cc edition. I live right by Highway 1, its one of the most scenic and fun rides on any motorcycle or car. Great Video.
Okay, so I've been trying to wrap my mind around this, & I've also tried to find the answer online, but I've yet to look very thoroughly. However, the question I have is say you do run out of petrol or gas, would you be able to pedal this as if it were a bike? By that meaning, you flip a switch, & it's running on the engine with assisted pedaling & then you flip the switch again, & it's just the man power of the pedals cranking the chain which in turn spins the wheel. If someone could please get back to me, I'd really appreciate it. I honestly think that this would be a really good 'solo / lone wolf' style vehicle. You carry what your person needs with an additional gear assortment for the bike. I'm telling you... If this motoped could not only use the engine, & then once fuel ran out you could use your pedals like it's a normal bike, or if this was electric & you happened to attach a solar panel to the back of it on top of your kit, etc. You'd have for the most part a "continuous motorized bike".
So this is going to sound kinda dumb probably, but did you like lock your bikes up when you slept? Like how did you protect them while you were inside eating in a diner or something, or using the bathroom at a rest stop or whatever? I just saw this bike in a magazine, and thought this would be great to use to see my friend all the way on the other side of the country, and my main concern would be something A.) stealing the bike completely, and/or B.) stealing something off of the bike. TL;DR how did you go about securing the bike and the things on there when you slept/ate inside a restaurant where you wouldn't be able to watch them? weren't you worried something might try to take them/your things?
hi, i just want to say that its a great video, im from mexico i would like to go to the US and buy a motoped the survival, but i have a question if i buy the 125cc do i need a license?... could you help me with that, thank you and i hope to see more videos about your trips...
+Corey Lewis why? cali has laws regarding color...so to NOT use those colors would be rather..bad and dangerous if you wanted to travel (and if always sent with green cans for some would be a massive fuck you since you'd get stuck with 2 worthless cans) aside from looks or trying to confuse people it's pointless to put gas in a green can (and thus to ship green cans with a gas rig) some stations won't even let you fill up a can unless it's colored properly (not only in cali) red is just...so much better for these
I was thinking of doing the 70cc bore kit for the same reason as you. I know the max on the 125cc is 52 mph and the max on the 49cc is 32 mph. Does the 70cc bore kit get you close to the top speed of the 125cc and if so what is the top speed of the 70cc Motoped.
Nicolas L In part 1 of this video I go over the lights that we are using. In California, motorized bikes are required to have a headlight / tail light, but they do not have to be DOT approved, so you can just use small bicycle headlight / tail light. If you look close in the video, you can see a small taillight on the back of the rack.

Soon... I happen to know someone who will be selling them to stores sometime between February and April. I'll tell you more when they are here, as I also plan on buying one... or two.
The helpful guy towards 2:30 is awesome, I take my hat off to people like him.
wow that guy who welcomes everyone who pass by nice vid btw
Life is so good when there are no cops around. I can and do be my own cop, I don't need or want them. I do, however, want one of these motopeds.
Just got my motoped kit last week. Love it. Got it together in a day. Fun. 110cc semi
Beautiful coastline and great editing, thanks for the trip!

I was definitely tempted by these too but it seems like your money would be much better put into a real dual sport If you're gonna rely on it
i just found out someone already lived my dream, seriously this is what i live for

That had to be a great time !!

Gavin Vaughn Pedaling, not "peddling"
Nicolas L Thanks for catching that.
scatcat1994 Truly catching response, I have to side with you 90 percent. My only Gripe is that I side with non motorised bikes More.

Change the first sprocket soon. stops chain wear. Its invisible wear, but its definitely worth it.
that looks so fun!
Did you buy the survival bike? Or did they lend it to you to make the video? Such a cool video.
The survival bike is not available yet, but should be in about a month or two. We were testing out the rack system on the ride.
@@kev7777777777 can u help me with the measures of the transmission parts, please? My e-mail is: batallafabio@hotmail.com

The engine is a 50cc that I put a 70cc bore kit on. I do that so the engine is marked 49cc to be street legal as a motorized bike.

06VIColorTheoryVI06 Yes, you can pedal these while the engine is off
Please more ride videos.
hey i just got a motoped surival and trying to set it up for a long ride
Excellent video, and great music. Wondering the name of the song at the 10 minute mark?
dewayne9972 That's Metallica doing a remake of Bob Seger's Turn the Page

So I assume you can't drive on interstates, how did you manage to find all the bike friendly roads? Did you use like GPS?

Juan Ganuza If you got the 125cc, you would need a motorcycle license for it.
Technically yes but I've seen people disguise 125s to look like 49s.. also, the last of lisencse doesn't necessarily mean someone won't sell you one.
What would one expect to pay for a fine unit like this im 235 5ft11
how far would you drive on it before you head this stop in let it cool down did it ever come close to overheating
these are so cool but really expensive for 4k you can buy a yamaha tw200 street legal and offroad and hit 70mph
Did they not send green gas cans like they picture or did you get your own red ones. I'd throw a fit if they showed up red
+Corey Lewis We used our own cans. These were pre-production models.
+Corey Lewis why?

VolksPrepper You are right about the 125 and 50cc speed, the 70 is about 40mph on level ground.
where do you buy parts for these and who works on them as well and did you have anything break on ya ride
Does anyone knows the laws for a motoped like this in California are? I have a drivers but do i need insurance?
Why is every shot going down hill?
No front / rear lights, and no license plate?

32 mph?
Where can i buy one, i'm from Austria?
MOTOPED is for people who are between normal and rich. The bike is 3,699$.
Because the EPA makes it so difficult. You can buy a fairly nice 100cc-250cc from some places for less than $1,000

AgentXRifle or 15 :)
Nice bikes, but My Puch goes faster. I'd love it if they still sold 2 stroke Enduros.
marijuana cookies?
did you mail order or is there someone local to buy from?
for the bike and the kit I mean.
