Great job! And as someone who has restored small outdoor statues I can say you did it absolutely perfectly! One of the most important steps you can do in repainting is a couple of coats of white paint or primer. Makes colors so much brighter!!! Excellent video!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Oh my! I’ve been redoing faded gnomes for years! Paint on new gnomes seems to fade within a summer…. The ones I’ve redone with outdoor (no sealer) are still vibrant years later. I’ve even done some really cute garden ‘bugs” for my mil! I thoroughly enjoy repainting things for garden….. you had a really cute gnome! Once we get back to “normal” around here, I have a stock pile of gnome painting to do! We brought probably a dozen from my mil house (she moved in with us). Plus they are so cute when they are bright & shiny!
Oh wow, so you skip the sealant all together? Good to know that will work with the outdoor paints, Sharlene. I seal EVERYTHING in the Pacific Northwest. It doesn't seem like it, but our outdoor stuff sure does take a beating.
Might be salt air? I’m in Sacramento area. I also bring everything in during the winter. I have pinwheels in fabric & metal, rabbits, lots of gnomes various other garden goodies. After first rain or cold front in fall/winter, I take buckets around yard & gather everybody up and they winter over in our exterior bath. After frosty mornings period pass, I bring everyone back to enjoy the smiles & general “good feeling” they all bring to the yard! I have a bunch 3-4 heaping buckets now with mil addition probably 5-6 buckets. Her room faces front yard, so I will be redoing her gnomes and setting up front yard for her to enjoy (she spends a lot of time in her room).
Very very cute! I have a few frogs that I have to repaint. I used to be a frog person before the gnomes came out so the gnomes have frogs in their garden too anyway..well mine do ! LOL 😂 you just got back from vacation? So does that mean you are all moved?? You were mentioning 100 degrees so I thought you were maybe all moved into Texas. Well we are in the 90 s and I am in Wisconsin so wow it's going to be a Hot Summer. I'm going up and leaving for camping in a week and the last trip we had 2 days in the 90 s. Mother Nature is baking us all this year.😎😘

I have two of this same Guy! I love them but one has been filled and I would like to do it to the other… I’m just not sure what to use? Concrete? Any ideas?
Haha you're not weird. This one was a refurbish for a friend so I didn't have a choice on it. Those little garden gnomes often come with really expressive faces but I'll see if I can find one without.
It will definitely work on concrete and ceramic (and most *likely) resin but I don't have a resin gnome to test. As for plaster, you have to be a bit more careful when sanding because you don't want to go too deep and cut into it with the sandpaper. As for the paint and sealant, you bet it will work. :)

Sarah this is adorable. Is the gnome plaster? Will this same procedure work on resin and concrete? ☮️
