- Bypassing the reverse override On Polaris without cutting any wires. This method is 100% reversable and no reverse light on in the dash. A few simple items and about 30 minuets of time.

my override switch was messing up, as it would be on when my atv was in forward, making my atv almost useless. this video helped me bypass it making my atv new again ! thanks !!
Awesome video Mr. F. Nicely explained and illustrated. I push snow with my '99 Sportsman 335 and this will make life much easier. Mucho gracias.
Great video! Do you know if its difficult to change the neutral and reverse light bulbs on these Polaris ATV's? The reverse light on my 96 Polaris Magnum 425 is not working at the moment.
Not hard at all. you need to remove the plastic surrounding the gas tank and handlebars then the part that houses the bulbs. Just a few screws.
@@MrFixit1 Ok thanks, then i should try to change the bulbs. 👍😊
Well done. I'll need to see how this translates to my 2014 800efi.
Thanks for doing a video on that. I to use my Polaris 1993 trailboss to move snow and hate when i have to push that button to get power in reverse. By chance would you have a extra speedometer assembly? My son tipped mine over gracefully and broke mine off. So have been looking for another one.
Sorry I do not have one to sell. The speedometer on this is pretty standard for 90's bikes and quads, may find one from another machine.
Thanks for the Video. Do you have any information on the Diode, like part number and where to buy it. I'm not all that familiar with them. Thanks
Search Diode for 50V-DC 5amp. This does not need to be a specific diode. For example, I salvaged the diodes from an old stereo circuit board. I used 2 of them in case one failed.
@@MrFixit1 Thank you Sir!
@@pantherjhm You Are welcome Sir.
Will this whole process work without including the diode?
Yes, but the reverse light will be on continuously.
@@MrFixit1 gotcha. Thanks for the quick response!!
i have to ask the function of the diode, i can only guess your is different than my '92.
4 wires into the rev limiter. yellow / red. power from the stator, split off the feed to the regulator.
White. power input from the throttle switch. (missing on mine) but assume B+ when closed throttle = input.
Black. signal out to the CDI, Rev limit function (could be grounding black, haven't tested)
and Purple. which is power input from the reverse switch Gray / white, which also feeds the rev bulb, purple.
the red limiter gets power input from either the reverse switch or closed throttle switch. signalling it to go into rev limit mode.
as i'm the only one that uses this, both throttle and override switches have been removed.
The diode keeps power from feeding back to the reverse indicator in the dash. When you press the override button the reverse light illuminates.
0:09 hey so if I just am having a problem with the rev limiter, can I just unplug the green wire what happens to my bike is sporadically it won’t rev up and it feels like it’s got a rev limiter in it in neutral orange drive. If I push the reverse override button, it helps it and I can get further down the road until it just automatically goes back to normal. I’m thinking there might be a short in the override system.
Yes unplugging the green wire will disable the Rev limiter. Rev limiter will only be activated when in reverse. There is also a micro switch in the thumb throttle housing that can fail, this limits the RPM's if the throttle cable sticks. If this switch is failing then will cause this issue, so check that as well by tracing the wires back the connection panel and click the switch on and off with a ohms meter in place and check for on off action. Although a failing cdi or failing stator will cause this issue. I would check the stator before replacing ether. I had a similar issue with mine and replacing the cdi fixed the problem. Test the components before replacing anything. If everything else checks out replace CDI. NOTE: if there are any wires plugged into green connector other than green then remove wire and plug it into the correct color connector. Also check for frayed wires in harness. Hope this helps.
Great video
Nice !!!
I'm going to utilize that to try to take out my reverse switch in my handle and also the rev limiter, but I'm going to have to dive into a little more of the reverse and forward switch inside of the handle / gear selector
As stated, not an easy machine to work on, again good job on the old 400.
Thank you!
What amp is the diod?
I think I answered this in another comment. 50v 5amp. enjoy your new modifications.
I'm gonna bypass my wife's chastity belt. Ha ha
Do what you fell is necessary.
Interesting
Annoyed in first 30 seconds. Adios
