The Market have been suffering over the past month, with all the three indexes recording losses in recent weeks. My $400,000 portfolio is down by approximately 20%, any recommendations to scale up my returns before retirement will be highly appreciated.

I agree, before the pandemic got real serious, I used to handle all my investment and I was pretty good at it, fast forward to post-pandemic and my-portfolio is steady in the red with profit rate down to the lowest, that's when I touched-base with a coach I saw featured on businessweek, who restructured my portfolio and over the last couple months, I've made over $850k from initially $210K

I left my investment banking job in Canada and moved back to India in 2014 (the same year Modi came to power). The kind of transformation I have seen in the past 9.5 years is mind boggling. Things I thought were impossible in India (e.g. rural electrification, sanitation coverage, multi lane expressways etc.) have become commonplace. I don't want to speculate where our economy will be in 30 or 50 years as I just want to soak in and appreciate all the transformative work that is happening around me.

You'll first realise that you're just identifying yourself to the French/Western/colonial concept of modern nation-states.

      Exactly my point!
People nowadays call nation-states in short as nations, not realising that nation altogether means a different thing. That's where the confusion is.
People do not realise that Vedic idea of rashtra (nation) has nothing to do with modern nationalism (based upon the concept of nation-states) which they're fighting for.
Before the French revolution, ideas of rashtra and rajya were not congruent like they're now.
These people even try to extrapolate this idea of modern nationalism (based upon the concept of French nation-state) to as far back as the Mauryan Empire,
This is sheer stupidity. People did not care about states back then.
It's like feeling ashamed of temples in Khajuraho, thinking it is against our culture, but not realising that the modern culture is hugely affected due to Islamic and Christian sensibilities introduced by the invaders.
And extrapolating it to the 12th century India is stupidity. It's you, who is changed!

When companies started investing in China, China had none of the above. All the things you have mentioned developed over the years. As the demand grows the need to build more infra also goes. Most of your cities today are the result of SEZ's for the industries investing in China.
Also, India is giving more returns currently on the investments compared to china.
Businesses have already lost trillions in China over last few years, china isn't a promising place for investment anymore. That real estate bubble is popped and banks and big companies are defaulting. The GDP growth numbers are also not real. As companies are moving out of China, they have a huge unemployment issue at hand.
If you look at the bigger picture, China has more problems compared to India, not to forget the aging population and communism.

China doing contract manufacturing for 30 years could only become a fast growing middle income economy. If india has to surpass china and become a rich economy , then it shud ride the ‘innovation’ bandwagon instead of contract manufacturing.

I prefer quarterly to monthly dividend ETFs, but so far I've only found the India Fund (IFN) to provide the criteria I'm seeking. So for US investors seems a pretty limited basket of healthy regularly dividend paying India ETFs. There are other India ETFs but these have very low dividend yields which I would want to stay out of as India has been investable for about at least a decade now with several Indian stocks returning healthy dividends. Too bad for US investors that Tata Motors withdrew their ADR. Otherwise was a great stock for US investors wanting India exposure.

For my friend's who still doubt the changes which are taking place in India few points for them to delve on
    1. India is investing more than 100 billion USD on Infra per year and this amount is growing each year. 2024 end we will see some major Infrastructure go live like the DFC, DMIC, couple of major airports and bridges. The effect of these will be felt in the economy.
    2. India is making huge progress in Digital infra and in terms of real time online payment, it is actually ahead of China and far ahead of USA.
    3. Oil dependency is biggest weakness and reaon why Rupee always depreciates. However India will be number 3 in Renewables by end of 2024. Infact it is building World's Largest solar park of 30 GW (Yes 30 GW) over an area bigger than Singapore. I feel the day India has 750 GW of Renewable Energy, Rupee will start reverse trend.
    4. India is a young country and now Indians have started taking innovation and entrepreneurship seriously as funding by local VC, Foreign Firms and Indian Angels is available. This will be a big game changer for India in coming 5 years.
    5. India has a very favorable Geography. Cant write here as it will be too lengthy and complex. But feel free to google. It also has the largest areable agriculture land in the world.
    6. We have always been a neutral and peaceful country. Prosperity and Wealth flows where this is peace and neutrality. Not to forget we are also the Spiritual capital of the World.

India is democratic, with 10 religions, and 22 languages, autocracy is impractical.
Modi ji is a tough boss, difficult to please. If a project doesn't make profit,
shut down, the boss loses job. So far no loses are "reported".
War is not his priority, unless it is imposed. India remains neutral,
that is more profitable in the long run. Why not?
India became digital. That will create "clean" administrations, less corruption.
Poor and low income "Pushcart" Salesman can survive in a democratic,
Capitalist country, of 1.4 billion people, with incomes of $2-3/day. 33% of
sales are in this bracket. This will increase in the coming years.
Education becomes AI-digital, with an aim to educate 1.4 billion population.
    Families are education minded.

India has a fantastic demography and population growth since decades - like Nigeria and other African countries.
Very strange that China’s unprecedented economic growth happened or at least didn’t stop after the one-child policy got introduced forty years ago.
And how about the demographic development in Taiwan, Japan or - god forbid - South Korea, which all have quite successful economies? Taiwan manages to have an even lower birth rate than China without having had a one-child policy.

Other fact is Japan Korea taiwan have matured economy, they won't grow more than 2% in any given year, their stocks won't grow that much either (around same as nominal I. E. 4%)

    • @NoMustang273
      @NoMustang273 4 месяца назад

The one child policy was conducive to growth because it forced families to educate their children and made it more manageable to provide jobs to the population. Having only one child means all resources will be sepnt on them which made the entire process much faster. Of course, China kept the policy for too long and now its demographics are heading towards the edge of a cliff.

India will never grow double digit like China. It will grow anywhere between 6-8 percent depending on global factors, but it will grow for MUCH longer than China. That may not be a great thing for the current generation trying to get rich faster, but I think India will have a much more sustainable growth with democratic buy in from the people. LOWER FOR LONGER, that the India story in my opinion.

      1. Never say never. Just because it hasn't happened in the past doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. India has never before seen such a confluence of favorable factors - economic , political and demographic - that it could yet happen.
      2. Autocratic regimes are notorious for lying about statistics, to make their autocracy look better to their own people.
China's GDP figures are suspect, more so because the lower levels (provincial and city authorities) were given GDP growth rate _TARGETS_ to achieve, something that no other country does. This gives the lower levels a very strong reason to doctor economic indicators/figures.
That is one of the reasons for China's out-of-control construction sprees: local authorities were under pressure to meet those high targets.

    • @nmew6926

By year 2007, China had already sent men in space several times. Sorry to say, India today has none of the above attributes. $3,75 Trillion GDP. I seriously doubt.

I've been following this India vs China debate for the last almost 30 years.
30 years ago, almost every single online article in the West comparing the two says India will be the next superpower.
This is the case especially if you talk to the Indians (on the comments sections).
Every time I ask why, the answer will inevitably lead to one single reason. And that is China is about to collapse.
That was (almost) 30 years ago.
And then every single year since then, China was supposed to collapse.
And then in 2001, the West backs its claim with the book 'The Coming Collapse of China'.
Since the book's launch, China continues non-stop to be "about to collapse" every single year.
From about 2(?) years ago, a flood of China-will-collapse-in-X-days videos (where X is either 7 days or 27 days) started to fill RUclips.
Today 2023, China is still about to collapse. And the next superpower is still supposed to be India.
I just came back from a 3 weeks holiday in Shenzhen in China. The place is as lively and prosperous as you can possibly get!!
I recommend you guys go and see it for yourselves. I think maybe you won't believe your eyes. Try it.

Thank you for your optimism about China. As Chinese people, we have become accustomed to the theory of China’s collapse. Shenzhen is the representative of technology, investment, and Internet services in China. We also welcome Indian people to the mainland of China, such as vast and beautiful places like Xinjiang. , understand that it is different from Western human rights questioning (in the United Nations Human Rights Council, almost all Islamic countries support China and do not oppress domestic Muslims, but many European countries and the United States believe that China violates the rights of Muslims, which is really ridiculous!), There is also Qinghai Province, where the sustainable energy usage rate has reached more than 90%.

Obtaining goods from India poses significant logistical challenges compared to China. While it typically takes me three days to ship desired items out of China, the process extends to three weeks with India, despite my best efforts. This delay is not solely attributed to physical infrastructure; rather, it reflects challenges associated with the prevailing mindset and cultural aspects. It is essential to recognize that India cannot simply replace China due to these complexities.

Agreed, but it's important to remember that China also didn't get there overnight. Their efficiency is a result of decades of investment and process improvement. India is not there yet - not even close - but it is a gap I'm confident India will soon narrow.

@tamberlame27 it might seem all time high because population even if 5 percent of population has some money it means 5 % of 1.5 billion people that's close to 125 million people have spent using emi or credit around 80 % when it went from nothing to something doesn't mean they become america or UAE its just small growth while still 90 % of population don't make 2000 dollars per year which again proves my point while people will take loans for houses while having small income which leads to housing loan defaults

@@brijeshbisaleri6866 but u said ‘they will never get disposable income’.
This is completely false. India’s major chunk of middle and upper middle class has huge buying power. This is not 5% of population as u have assumed. This is much much larger.
