YES THAT IS ANNEKE!!! She and Devin are like best friends and he has her sing on his albums all the time because for years he detested the sound of his own voice.
I love requesting lesser-known songs from the artists I love! Typically the same songs get requested and I have almost never seen this song get discovered.
At the end, when you said "is this the same song???", you were close: same album! It's called Empath and has a broad spectrum of music on it. Case in point is, the next song is an operatic Disney-esque song with Devin crooning on it.
Oh, yeah, by the way, in addition to writing all the music, recording the guitar and vocals, and mixing the album, Devin also made the videos for the entire album. It has kind of a low budget B-movie vibe but it's great, and the music is so good...
Also, I think technically there is a section on Empath that is slightly heavier than this...lol. And definitely some stuff from his band Strapping Young Lad which is super heavy as well.
