I think one of the arguably best legacy sets was the Overlord dragon, and it never even had a set back when final battle sets came out. Yet it took direct inspiration from those early dragons with the blade wings and unique head mold. I understand your perspective on this. I really enjoyed Ninjago Legacy, but I think that's because I mostly never cared that it wasn't entirely accurate to the show. I enjoyed the new take on vehicles and even minifigures. The Legacy 1 suits did get annoying to constantly see, but beyond that I liked the figs. Only getting one season 5 Legacy set definitely didn't help. One big issue, at least for me, was the lack of villain builds in Legacy. In the 3 years that Legacy was around, we got 2 major villain builds: the giant stone warrior and the Overlord dragon. The villains are just as important to Ninjago's history as the ninja, and to see them barely get any representation in builds was very dissatisfying. Overall, I am mostly happy with Ninjago Legacy's run, but I think the tail end left me dissatisfied. This is why I would want it to return, at least to end it on a better note, but it's probably best to leave it be for a while.
the fire dragon, whilst not being accurate to the source material, was better than the source material by a long shot and is one of my favorite dragons.

@@ChaseProductions18 Something that's great about Ninjago Core was that all of the ideas were fresh, and not tethered to the narrative, or older sets. I feel people give it flack for that, and I will never understand why.
I don't think legacy should have had the old designs, i know that a lot of the fans wanted to see that for nostalgia sake, but imo the old designs are to primitive compared to not only the new ones but designs that we see in other themes like City or Monkie kid, the way lego makes molds and prints changes over time and because of this i don't think the Old desings is the way to go for legacy. My problem with legacy minifigures is how inconsistent they were, for example the legacy 1 suits from 2019 who represent all of the suits from Ninjago's original run(pilots-season2) but they look nothing like any of the 4 suits And then there are the legacy 2 suits that are a combination of the S3 and S4 suits but they look a lot more like the S4 suits witch i like, but we should have individual remakes for every suit. And then there is Zane from season 5 wich is how i think EVERY figure from legacy should have been designed it isn't a combination of two or more suits, it clearly looks like the S5 suit and it fixes some of the things i didn't like about the original, my only complaint is that the armor should have been recolored in black. If legacy ever returns it would be awesome because i liked it, but it for sure will need an overhaul.
Just so we're clear. I want to see new versions of the old designs. I want a 2012 Kai with his blade cycle, as they appear in the show, with today's printing and design, for example.
I like Ninjago legacy but it has so many frustrating problems. The fact that they would make 3 of the 4 of a season’s iconic ninja vehicles then stop, they didn’t re-mold Iconic collectibles most prominently the Technoblades and not including an arrowblade in the titan mech set even though that wouldn’t require to re-mold anything new, making sets reimagined instead of just making them more accurate than their original sets even though kids prefer stuff that’s accurate to what they see on the screen or maybe I was just weird like that. And oh my goodness, so many of the lines problems can be pointed to the villains where they clearly were covering way too much in each wave and didn’t have enough budget to compensate. Stuff like the fact that season four only had Eyezor as a Villain because they didn’t have enough budget to re-mold any of the snake skull hats. Signature villains would barely appear, particularly the serpentine generals and when they would they would be completely nerfed and inaccurate. The only reason why we got Hypnobrai and not any Fangpyre or Constrictai is because the Hypnobrai share the same molds as the Venomari because in the original each tribe had three head molds two being shared with another tribe, and a third one which would be special and usually used for the general and we never got the third for either tribe. Also, the lack of villain vehicles made the line very repetitive. And that’s only the start of a lot of my problems (like how the 10th anniversary golden ninja only covered like two years in the Wildbrain even seasons, that had not come out yet because that was probably the only molds they had available to them) and I could rent about it for a lot longer but I got to end somewhere. And again I still like legacy and some of the stuff it did but it was nice to finally see a video that covered its problems. Great video, love that you cover aspects about this brand that don’t get covered much.
dude i just found out about ninjago legacy after getting back into lego. so sad i missed out on all of this. i lovethe designs of the older sets more than the new ones rn
Lego probably tought that having the old pre movie designs would cause confusion on the brand for normies and other people alike. But i do wish they at least made more variation of the ninja clothing, legacy used the season 10 ninja to represent the pilot season 1 and 2 which is really lazy. Also they should've made a more even minifigure distribution and not give so much focus on legacy kai on abunch of sets he doesn't need to be
while I agree with a few of your points, I think some of them are contradictory (praising the titan mech mainly) or just don’t make sense as legacy is supposed to appeal to multiple audiences. making better designed sets out of old concepts to appeal to old fans, and attracting new fans. having multiple designs for the ninja on shelves or just rereleased of sets would only attract the old audience, specifically those who want the exact sets from back then if legacy was an exact copy of the past as you detailed it. it’s the whole reason TLNM suits are in show after all, to not confuse old audiences. i dont know, maybe it doesn’t make sense, but I respect your opinion
I did not detail wanting exact copies of the older sets. I'm asking for modern versions of sets based off of the show. They deviate enough from the sets proper, but are also recognizable to all interested audiences in Ninjago. We can have something new that's directly inspired off of the past as well.
@@PenPlays i see. understandable, I personally like legacy (it was incredibly flawed, but i believe for different reasons) and I think what I like about is the new design language, and i see why that’s polarizing. i mainly got that vibe when you mentioned the old designs of the ninja’s faces since it just sorta made the whole thing seem like “do remakes”, since they’re similar arguments, bht I see that’s not what you’re saying now
Some are modernized, most don't quite do what they intended. We can have a theme where we get throwback sets but done even better than this, mind you. It's just the concept of "Ninjago Legacy" proper should be left behind us.
Did you know that the Season 13 Bounty is the Legacy Bounty put into the show? The set came first. I recommend using some screenshots and comparing the Legacy Bounty to the Bounty in Rise of the Snakes. It’s quite impressive what they were going for.
I’m honestly ready for Ninjago to retire so we can finally get back to a healthy amount of Lego Action Themes instead Ninjago taking up most of that shelf space.
I'm waiting for LEGO to make Action Themes that don't need scientific validation to exist. Hidden Side and DreamZzz were just that. LEGO needs to figure out that people just want fun action themes, not over-analyzed ones, and once that happens, I think we'll see what we've been waiting for.
I completely disagree, Ninjago isn’t the problem. We can see that Lego has no problem pumping out other themes like Dreamzzz and Hidden Side. The great thing about Ninjago is that it’s got a great story and great sets.
While I disagree with Ninjago retiring, I do think LEGO needs to lean more into non-licensed themes. And I think a part of why they haven't been as much is two-fold: 1. Ninjago can do almost anything a non-licensed theme would within an already recognized and kid-enjoyed context. You want underwater? We got a Hydro-Bounty for that. You want Pirates? We got a season for that, etc. Obviously, the Ninjago versions do not have the same scenarios that people in search of those themes would want, but it gives LEGO an easy testing ground and area to put those concepts without putting extra development effort into a new theme. 2. LEGO has decided that any non-licensed theme must follow a "big-bang" 3-year development lifecycle, and I think this is harmful. Some of the most enjoyed older themes didn't so much have a certain runtime, but rather just had solid sets for however long they were around. Now, however, LEGO has to make any new (character-driven) theme into a 3 year event (at minimum). There must be more distinct colors for certain characters (something that I give Dreamzzz credit for moving away from), etc. Personally, I think LEGO should do one of two options - 1. Lean into more 1-2 year themes that can facilitate fun or redone ideas (Space Police 4, etc.) without being regulated to a longer lifecycle. This ensures that if they do badly, they don't have to abandon or minimize a third year (ahem, Nexo Knights), but if they do well, then they win either way, and more sets can be made along development cycles if wanted. or 2. Create a "Legacy" theme, in which a mixture of sets are redone or ideas are reimagined for a new audience. For example, a wave where there is a Power Miners drill with Rock Monsters, a Space Police ship with some weird enemy, and a Pharaoh's Pyramid with a scorpion and an adventurer would be great. While there wouldn't be many of each subtheme in any given wave, it could gauge interest, and would give a way to bring back desired ideas without putting too much development work into full themes of them.
I didn't become a Ninjago fan since a couple years ago or so. So perhaps that's why I think the suits used in the Monastery set are some of the best ever. Love those suits over the ones used in 2011.
The moral of the story is to leave the concept of Ninjago Legacy behind, and ask for a brand new take on a throwback Ninjago theme. We can have that, but I'd rather it not be "Ninjago Legacy 2."

because they were in sets based on S1
I find it so stupid people dont realise they will bring legacy back for the 20th anniversary and do more seasons then
while I agree with a few of your points, I think some of them are contradictory (praising the titan mech mainly) or just don’t make sense as legacy is supposed to appeal to multiple audiences. making better designed sets out of old concepts to appeal to old fans, and attracting new fans. having multiple designs for the ninja on shelves or just rereleased of sets would only attract the old audience, specifically those who want the exact sets from back then if legacy was an exact copy of the past as you detailed it. it’s the whole reason TLNM suits are in show after all, to not confuse old audiences. i dont know, maybe it doesn’t make sense, but I respect your opinion
I did not detail wanting exact copies of the older sets. I'm asking for modern versions of sets based off of the show.
They deviate enough from the sets proper, but are also recognizable to all interested audiences in Ninjago.
We can have something new that's directly inspired off of the past as well.
@@PenPlays i see. understandable, I personally like legacy (it was incredibly flawed, but i believe for different reasons) and I think what I like about is the new design language, and i see why that’s polarizing. i mainly got that vibe when you mentioned the old designs of the ninja’s faces since it just sorta made the whole thing seem like “do remakes”, since they’re similar arguments, bht I see that’s not what you’re saying now
I love Ninjago Legacy because it's a modernization of the old sets. Hard disagree with your opinion, but I'll give the vid a like.
Some are modernized, most don't quite do what they intended. We can have a theme where we get throwback sets but done even better than this, mind you. It's just the concept of "Ninjago Legacy" proper should be left behind us.
Every month they should release a few old sets
I don’t know why people hate the legacy 1 season 10 suits? They are beautiful and stand out. I agree the legacy 2 is not great
I don’t hate them, but I do not like them being used in sets we are supposed to pretend they are something they are not
"You're not just a clown. You're the entire circus"
Thank you for watching and commenting
Why does anything with “Legacy” in the title seems to end in disappointment?
It's been gone for years. This isn't an issue. In fact, I want it back.
And that's the problem. You need to let go of wanting it back, and ask for something better than it was.
@@PenPlays I hadn't watched the video yet. I mostly agree with you. I like the designs of the Ninja in Legacy, even if they aren't accurate
@@spence8507 Then why comment? Hahaha.
I like the minifigs too, but not in the context given.
Thanks for watching.
Sorry but the d. bounty is totally different from the one of the first season, in fact its the copy paste of the season 13 bounty
Did you know that the Season 13 Bounty is the Legacy Bounty put into the show? The set came first.
I recommend using some screenshots and comparing the Legacy Bounty to the Bounty in Rise of the Snakes. It’s quite impressive what they were going for.
@@PenPlaysyes but the leaked version was much accurate and cooler in my opinion
Woah a very and I mean VERY rare pen plays L
NO!
And I think a part of why they haven't been as much is two-fold:
Personally, I think LEGO should do one of two options -
The 2011 ones are dated, ya. I can understand that. Makes me curious what a tried and true modern take of those 2011 minifigs would look like
okay but darth vader should be pink
They make him pink for special promotional things. For fun? Sure.
