I CAN NOT BELIEVE ANYONE COULD FIND FAULT WITH THIS FANTASTIC LAYOUT, IT HAS TO BE ENVY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR LAYOUT FOR THE WORLD TO ENJOY!!!
This layout has to be the best I;ve seen. The detail, smoke stains on the overpass bridge, the aged buildings. Nothing short of a "Wow"… Awesome work..
I've watched so many model railroad videos on youtube and out of all of them, I think this is the best one. I have watched this video a gazillion times and it never gets old. For some reason, I can't stop watching it; I am absolutely in love with this layout. Amazing work. Cheers.
Great layout guys! Very realistic & highly detailed. Excellent quality with sound & operation both. Thanks for sharing this great footage for us RR modelers.
Absolutely awesome! I worked for the Northern Pacific as a boy, then went into the Navy for six years. I returned to railroad work in this time period, working on a welding gang for the Burlington Northern in Montana. These trains are great. Thanks for putting this online.
Thank you for sharing. I like the Fruitvale division, as it adds the lake running up to an industry with the tracks running along the other side. Also the detail work on Sams Good Food restaurant, was really excellent.
I'm not a model train fan but I've got to say that this is amazing. There were times when it looks so real and I mean real. Not a model looking good but a real train passing down a real line with real trees and buildings. You guys are magicians and I'll look at models in a wholly different light now. Oh, and thank you for the video.
I'm just a voyeur, and don't have this as a hobby. (But you make me want to get into it.) A couple of times I thought you were showing actual, real-life, footage to compare when I realized I was still watching a model. AMAZING DETAIL! Wow! You are a master at this craft.
I love watching the trains it fine with me the longer the videos are the more I enjoy them . growing up I lived next to the B@O round house, this place long gone but will always have a special place in my heart. your videos help me not forget the good old days.
Great stuff Craig...as always. Enjoyed meeting you with Ryan at your shop in Fullerton! I am enjoying your products that I got that day! thanks again. Dee
To me, this is the absolute best in model railroading. The realism is second to none in my mind, and my hat goes off to you for all your hard work and efforts to say the least. This is certainly the best I have ever had the pleasure to view! Thank You!
That was a very enjoyable video! Several points made it difficult to discern from the model and the real railroads of the time! Thank you for sharing! AZ
Absolutely the best model layout video on the web...amazing stuff...Mr. Dickinson and his crew have done a marvelous job. Loved every second of the video and hope to see more...thanks for sharing your marvelous work...
Just wanted to say luv the video. I am in the process of re-doing my dcc layout. It is always neat to see other layouts. You always learn from others videos. Thanks much, keep creating... J. Johnson Minnesota
I know nothing about train collecting and don't have much intrest in it at all, BUT that had my jaw on floor lol! How can anyone not appreciate the skills, time, and artistic ability that goes into something like that! So impressive and beautiful!
Fantastic layout --what a talented and skillful team to be able to build such a realistic model railroad. What a pleasure to watch. Thank you for positing it for all of us to watch.
Impressive video! Everything was superb. An interesting period to model - all kinds of paint schemes and equipment to model. It seems only yesterday they were common. Thank you for a great video!
Great video. Super detail. One thing I noticed that impressed me was the sun visors in the locomotive cab...tilted down to block the sunshine. Neat. As for the intermittent commentary regarding the length of this particular video, I'd say an exception is in order, considering the exceptional quality of the railroad. The Northern Pacific engine detail is amazing.
This is wonderful, simply wonderful ! Also I would say this is the best mocel railroad video I've ever seen ! The photography and editing are stupendous ! I especially like the mixture of railroads on the engines and the wonderful Empire Builder. That's authentic. All the working signals are great and even the engineer's arm moved. Thanks ! Will certainly bookmark this one.
Amazing layout!!! This reminds me of the layout my Dad and I built. It was a little smaller and we worked together on the layout for ten years. It was never finished just like everyone else who enjoys the hobby. I don't care if you've had it four years or fourteen there's always something else to add on to your own little world. Im looking forward to seeing more of your layout. By the way I unfortunately had to sell the house and the couple who purchased my home also took the trains. I spent many hours and months teaching them (father and son) how to run , maintain and explain how everything worked. I kept enough track to go around my Christmas tree along with some rolling stock and a turn out and a couple of buildings. My Dad would have loved your layout.
The price tag for this is likely priceless at this point. So much material, so much labor, so much equipment has gone into this layout at his point that I don't think its value can be accurately measured.
Great layout!!! Love the covered wagons, I was in Chicago the day B.N. pulled their old ones out to send them to the scrap yard (heart breaking). They were a staple on the passenger line for years as I was growing up. Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks for posting the video. I really like how the layout is very realistic and lots of wide open spaces, like the prototype. I give it a two thumbs up!!! :)
you did a real nice job so many of the areas on this setup look so real cool i only hope to get even close to this amount of realism i appriteate the work that must have been put into this incredible layout thanks for the inspiration i love the f units
Amazing layout man. Everything looks so realistic. The scenery is beautiful, the signals and other details look really good, and the trains actually look like real trains, and not just plastic models that just came out of the box. Great work man. :3
Awesome layout! i love how so many of the scenes look like your watching a prototype railfan video rather than a model layout video. Great job and very inspirational.
Nicely done (both the layout and the camera work)... Caught myself looking for DW and BLMA products, of course... Really enjoy the lighting possibilities on the motive power today, as well, for this is a fine demonstration. Thanks for sharing this!
I've just finished my lunch at Stan's, watching another very enjoyable series of train movements. My compliments to this "group", and an extra tip of my engineer's cap to the videographer. The signaling is so interesting to watch, that AmTrak station at the summit so splendidly underplayed (is it overlooked?), the color mish-mash of passenger railroading of that era -- all terrific. Now there need to be a few more diaphragms installed and communications strung between some of the telephone poles, and who could ask for more? (Well, maybe banishing the juvenile train watchers going over the moon, but then, that's the team's personality, apparently.)
Amazing!!! At several points I really couldn't tell if the video was of a model or if it was a Green Frog production. Great details along the way and truly conveys the ethos of 1970s RRing.

Really, how can people hate a man's model railroad. It's their pride that they have put many hours into. Like this if you agree.
An awesome designed, very scenic and highly detailed and most authentic
running layout! My congrats on a job expertly done!
Great layout guys! Very realistic & highly detailed. Excellent quality with sound & operation both. Thanks for sharing this great footage for us RR modelers.
Love the excellent detail & realism, plus it appears to be set in the '70s, which is when I was growing up, so that makes it doubly cool to me.
This is one very impressive layout! I have never seen model trains in any scale operate so smoothly or flawlessly.
Wow I could never make something like that in a million years. You have a gift from god
Absolutely awesome! I worked for the Northern Pacific as a boy, then went into the Navy for six years. I returned to railroad work in this time period, working on a welding gang for the Burlington Northern in Montana. These trains are great. Thanks for putting this online.
This is one very impressive layout! I have never seen model trains in any scale operate so smoothly of flawlessly.
This is really giving me the itch to have a layout again.
Thank you for sharing. I like the Fruitvale division, as it adds the lake running up to an industry with the tracks running along the other side. Also the detail work on Sams Good Food restaurant, was really excellent.
Just amazing. I was going to show my 2.5 year old son a train, as he is into Thomas the train and ended up showing this to my wife! This is amazing.
It's not Thomas ... but it sure is awesome!!!! LOL

Brilliant video. I love watching the full sized freight trains on You Tube but to watch this is almost as good. Every little detail is there. Superb
Simply AWESOME! Very nice job Tim. One of the best model railroads that I have seen.
Wow! not only great layout, scenery and sound, but the BEST filming job I have seen of model layout. OUTSTANDING job
I love watching the trains it fine with me the longer the videos are the more I enjoy them . growing up I lived next to the B@O round house, this place long gone but will always have a special place in my heart. your videos help me not forget the good old days.
The weathering on the cars is incredible!
Great stuff Craig...as always. Enjoyed meeting you with Ryan at your shop in Fullerton! I am enjoying your products that I got that day! thanks again. Dee
An excellent layout by Tim Dickinson, superbly filmed by Craig Martin. Like the work guys!!
The year is 1976? I do believe most of not all pre-BN locos were in cascade green by then. It looks more like 1972!
To me, this is the absolute best in model railroading. The realism is second to none in my mind, and my hat goes off to you for all your hard work and efforts to say the least. This is certainly the best I have ever had the pleasure to view! Thank You!
yes you can... that is one of the best Modelltrain layout, style... greetings from Germany. TOP
