    I stumbled on this video looking for how people build copper birdhouse roofs. Wow. You are truly talented. Talk about going to down the rabbit hole for me. I watched all 24 minutes and was amazed.

    Love that you are including Cousin It and giving him his own room. I used to love how in the show all these crazy relatives were always showing up and they always had a place. His room will need a bed, suitcase, tons of hats, and of course a ton of grooming supplies!

    • @BentleyHouseMinis

    Lmao... The DON'T USE MY FABRIC SCISSORS ON AAAAANYTHING ELSE club. 🤣
    Sidebar: I came downstairs once in my youth to find my obnoxious roommate cutting weed up with my EXTREMELY expensive fabric scissors. I was a dressmaker working on high end (often $10k) wedding gowns at the time and he "only knew one place in the house that had scissors that were easy to find"... I didn't even know I could GET mad like that.
    Thank you for your fantastic tutorials on all the things I can't find anywhere else 😁 This is brilliant. Wish me luck!

    Dear Ara, you're absolutely right about copper and the way it ages. Here in Melbourne, the main city train station has a copper cupola on the roof, well actually it is the roof, and it's completely green because it's been there for over 100 years. That's just what happens to copper when it oxidises over time. Your friend Dark Raven would know the station I'm referring to, she lives in Melbourne too. I love how Cousin It's room looks, it's fabulous 😅

  • @TrixyTheWonderDog
    @TrixyTheWonderDog 4 года назад

    I love this room! Cousin It is a classic kind of guy and this copper roof, lead windows and wallpaper make me think of how this house might have looked originally built.
    You did a great job aging the copper. My house was originally built with copper roofing and 100 years later, yeah it's blue and green 😂😂 You can see the copper shine through on the lower awnings that received more care but, the top and overall look is a blue/green with an odd orange tint.

    Love, love, love your copper. Thanks for showing how to create copper without actually using copper! I used real copper to create roofs for two bay windows many years ago on a kit-bashed storefront. Tricky! Yours look better with the aging than the real thing. You are a very talented young woman. Your artistic vision inspires us all.

I love me some grungy verdigris, Ara, and you nailed it 😍 What a brilliant solution for adding the perfect space for Cousin It, without having to attempt to match the existing roofing treatment. Stunning effects. Fab use of colour. The different/unusual roof/room shapes work so well - esp the steps up to the door in the main house. To my mind it captures the true quirkiness of the Adams family to a T. Brilliantly done as usual :-)

    BTW, I am watching the original '60's Addams Family right now on Pluto TV. They have a channel dedicated just to the show. First of all, I just love your name! Now, this is how the conversation went in my head. “Okay Girl, you are not gonna make that roof. You don’t even have a dollhouse to put it on!” My response, “yeah but it’s so cute. My head replied, “Nope, not gonna happen. Come on, a whole dollhouse?” A big sigh as I think, “Okay so I’m not making a dollhouse.” But then my brain kicked in with a picture of my honeymoon escapades from 46 years ago in Nassau Bahama. Picture this... a little shack on the side of the road with the best Bahama Mama drinks in the world! It was literally a big old fruit stand with counters on all 4 sides, 4 bartenders, lots of fruit, rum and fun! It also had a ... wait for it…greenish colored roof that looked just like yours. So guess what I’m gonna be building? An island shack with a glorious copper-covered roof! Thank you my Sista for the wonderful tutorial and the wonderful memories it brought forth. Have a BLESSED weekend!

      @@BentleyHouseMinis I'm not tech savvy enough to go online. I just lightly dry-brush the patina colors over the copper paint until i get the effect I want. I think it gives a little more realism to the roof.

    I love the fencing, but veeeery concerned about cardboard (or even thin wood) against my cat's who seem determined to investigate and sleep on roofs

      @BentleyHouseMinis  9 дней назад

      I can see your concern! I only have dogs that stay on the floor so I don't ever think about keeping things safe against animals on the top of my projects. I do think they have plastic fencing out there but I don't have a link at the moment.

      There is a playlist titled "Addams Family" that has all my available videos. It's not everything from the beginning of the project but quite a few. Enjoy!

      Yes - many channels went unsub all by themselves some months ago, I was asking the same question. I knew I wasn't imagining it.

      That's so sad to hear. I don't understand why RUclips does that so often :( It's frustrating to the creators and subscribers!! I am glad you are still here though💖💖

    If you put Elmer's glue over something kinda thick and set it on fire till blàck ànd buff off with a soft rag it will look like copper. Think that's how it was done. Experiment first. Been 30 years since i did it.
