- Mussel farming is an international aquaculture industry established in many parts of the world, including Scandinavia, Spain, New Zealand, China and Canada. They are important as a human food, can be turned into a valuable omega-3 extract, or an ingredient in fish feed, and are also used in animal feed, particularly in China.
In today's video will be the detailed process of the mussel farming industry.

As a fishmonger, I always appreciate those in aquaculture. They help keep my seafood display case full of sustainable and delicious seafood to share and sell to everyone.
Im curious, what do they do with the shell? Is there a afterproduct for the shell?
I buy these at my grocery store in central MN for about $7 and cook them in a pot with shrimp, andoulie sausage, garlic, onion, fennel bulbs, butter, and white wine. OMG so delicious
it's delicious, i want to eat it everyday too
$11 a kg in pack and save Te Awamutu NZ last Friday 1. sept 2023.
I was so shocked that such things were so expensive, and they still had their shells on.
Walked on by looks like a Delacy like these are way to heavy for my pocket these days, and I love them as much as any kiwi.
I'm not gonna lie if this series had an actual person voicing over them, I would literally watch every one
Ya i had to mute the audio cause its so bad
I really wanna know if the video footage is bought, stolen or actually done by them
@@LachskoenigIV almost certainly stolen
@@LachskoenigIV the footage is credited in the description.
These are obviously nice and clean ones. I'm always wary of imported shellfish, because a lot of it comes from nasty polluted water. This was very good.
Thank for fully watch my video. lucky for you, love you
@@NoalFarm2020 big issue they are finding on the pacific coast mussel and scallop farms is the ocean is absorbing alot of the carbon dioxide released so its acidifying the oceans more and more. they are finding the mussels and scallops are not reproducing because of it. some have introduced buffers to fix the problem in small sections but its gonna be a big issue in the future.
Wrote a research paper on the shellfish farming. Really nice to see long line farming and how it is actually done in real life than in words. Very educational and informative!!
If you wrote a paper on it, then surely you shoul dhave visited some of the farming sites to fully understand and appreciate how it is carrid out???
@@Blagger3000 It's not published, just for college assignment/ suggestions. But I intent to visit one of the New Zeland ones one day.
In Manila, farmers set bamboo poles at the coastline and wait for wild mussels to stick themselves in and grow at the pole.
Great. How long does that take, how efficient is that process in terms of reliable production, and how vulnerable is that process to dynamite fishing, another interesting technique that is employed by many fisherfolk in the Philippines?
This Mollusk will be the savior of the sea and the starving alike.

todo el proceso que se muestra y se narra, ocurre en chile, no en nueva Zelanda. No digo que allá no haya cultivo de mejillón, sino que el material visual ocurre en chile.
