My favorite part of when Shinji "saves" Rei is that Rei was like "I am sorry I couldn't get you and your dad closer together" and Shinji says "iI doesn't matter. This is all I need". It made me cry a bit and it was very wholesome :)
my favorite part of evangelion is easily the rei lilith scene from end of eva for some reason even after watching the film like three times, the animation and music sticks out to me the most and its been the scene i have not been able stop thinking about the most since i first watched it- easily the best scene in my opinion however the scene of asuka opening the door is still peak comedy
Actually, I think the Asuka Unit 2 god mode makes sense in a weird way. Asuka was known for saying "baka Shinji" (stupid, foolish Shinji) and particularly in the TV show. However, when she is facing Unit 13, can't get through her own AT Field, and then decides to take matters into her own hands, she is acting against better judgment (e.g., Mari saying, "Princess, you won't be human anymore!"). And, as it turns out, her "original" shows up, calls her "baka" and pulls her out of the DSS choker before it explodes. Basically, Asuka called Shinji stupid and then there was a decisive moment and she makes the wrong decision.
