      Yes and no. Because it's a "Schedule II" medication, (here in the States) every Fentanyl prescription filled is logged in a pharmaceutical data-base. Every detail, from the Patient to the Dr. who prescribed the drug is entered-and because it's not a "common 'script," authorities would be looking at ANYONE who could even remotely have access the drug. ( like stealing a patch from the medicine cabinet of "your best friend's-sisters-cousins-grandmother"...lol)

    The "professionals" in this video are deceptive(as in the case of the doctor @5:00) or completely uninformed, as in the case of RCMP @58:50 How can they hope to find a solution when they are unprepared, uneducated, ... this is a losing battle from the start. Death is a completely natural part of life, sooner or later everyone dies. By bringing an addict back to life, you are enabling that circumstance to re-occur, and perhaps the next episode will involve the death of innocent citizens. Imagine you find someone who you are certain is an addict, and near death. Would it not be practical to allow that person to sleep peacefully, and end their suffering? If the sole reason to continue that addict's existence is to increase profits for the pharmaceutical industry....or to further your employment, maybe, just MAYBE, you are doing the wrong thing. 50 years ago, before the introduction of pharmaceutical heroin, there were relatively few overdose deaths. What does it take to awaken the doctors, politicians, and police? You have created this problem by your ignorance and greed, and you wish the citizenry to support your OBVIOUSLY FUTILE efforts. YOU ARE NOT SAVING LIVES, YOU ARE MERELY DELAYING DEATH AND INCREASING THE IMMINENT DANGER TO SOCIETY.

    • @mlkirkl09
      @mlkirkl09 7 лет назад +3

      And if that were your child, mother, father or sibling, would you just sit there while they die and just say, "Oh, well. They were an addict. Might as well let them die."? That is a very selfish thing to say since by saving the addict's life, some of them do not relapse and go on to become productive citizens. I have had addicts in my family who have recovered. With your thinking, by just letting them die, who knows if they would have recovered? If you just want to be left alone just to die if something happened to you, then so be it, but not to help someone else is, in your own words, IGNORANT AND GREEDY.

    • @luciengrondin5802
      @luciengrondin5802 7 лет назад +1

      The problem is that in western society human life is sacred. Keeping addicts alive without doing anything to cure their addiction only makes things worse, but not doing it is considered immoral or something.
      It's just like Yuval Norah Harari describes in his book "Homo Deus" : humanism has become a new religion, and as all religions, it's completely irrational.

    • @GarryBurgess
      @GarryBurgess 7 лет назад +1

      Ibogaine can completely and rapidly cure addiction in a single day. It will kill the addiction, kill the craving for the drug, and address the psychological problems that caused the user to make the mistakes that got them in that situation, with a 90% long term success rate. But the professionals and police are totally useless in their attempts to address this problem, to the point that ibogaine is even illegal in the USA. That's just dumb, dumb, dumb, especially considering their useless track record with methadone that users have to take for at least an entire year. And making these drugs illegal for users just compounds the problems. Prisons won't ever solve opioid drug addiction -
      period. You can't arrest your way out of an opioid epidemic, in spite of the "war on drugs" crazy mantra. Big pharma started this problem, and wants this problem to sell their dangerous drugs. They are worse than street drug dealers because they commit their crime with more premeditation. So big pharma wants to solve the problem that they created with their own overpriced garbage.

    • @Mineav
      @Mineav 6 лет назад

      Gary Burgess: War on drugs, baby. Very, very big interest groups want to keep that war going, including provincial and federal inforcement of all types, detention centers (ie. prisons), and it's no secret that even the CIA has a history of smuggling drugs to fund their secret operations. The war on drugs has been an abject failure, but don't expect it to change anytime soon, lest enough of the public demand it to end. But people like the OP are probably lost causes and just hurt the process; they basically know fuck all, which doesn't help.

    • @acgillespie
      @acgillespie 6 лет назад +1

      They care... they really care... I bet all the prisons are full as are the jails and court houses and everyone is well fed esp all them who wear the 3 piece suits

  • @Jamaicalandofthefree
    @Jamaicalandofthefree 7 лет назад +6

    All opiate addicts should be sent to jail. There family needs to broken up. They should not be able to get jobs. Just like the late 70s 80s. We need a new war on drugs no compassion for the addicts. This is not a crisis its a war.

    • @GarryBurgess
      @GarryBurgess 7 лет назад +10

      Yeah, that war was a complete and total failure, and will always be a complete and total failure, and in fact just makes the problem much much worse. When Portugal decriminalized all drugs, their opioid use went from the highest in the EU to the lowest in the EU in 10 years.

    • @kellystar6733
      @kellystar6733 7 лет назад +1

      Jay Staga drugs would win because the prisons would be overflowing with addicts, not dealers. So they would have to let prisoners out and they would just go to the dealers.

      @miriambrooks1087 7 лет назад +2

      Jay Staga, It is stated, maybe not in this video, however I understand that it changes the brain, and that is the big issue. It takes control over the person's ability to make good choices. A little empathy goes a long way. This is offered to be helpful, not to be all knowing. I am not that.
