Thanks for this video! I wanted something like this in my shrimp tank for moss but was using tubing. Needles to say it didn't work well. The rope is perfect and much easier to manage. I sowed some suction cups to it and it looks fantastic. Can't wait for the moss to grow in!

Good morning Mark, thak you for a great tutorial on the susswasertang rope. I stumbled across your channel while searching for some information on susswasertang moss in Oct 2024. This tutorial on how to make a susswasertang rope was the one. I was fascinated by the look and just had to try it myself. Had to ponder over a couple of things. I do not have a spray bar in all my tanks, so had to figure out how to get the rope to stay in one place without the cable ties. Trying to keep my tank as natural as possible. So I drilled a 4 mm hole halfway into a small pebble to glue the rope into it for the anchor. To get it floating I decided to use a cork from a wine bottle also with a 4 mm hole to fit the rope through. This is now scalable to adjust the depth requird. Unfortunately, I do not know how to attach vid or photo, as I'm new to RUclips... Keep up with the great content on your channel. I will definitely pop in again.

Hello Woudapie, I was going to try this again in a new tank using abmboo across the top so I could tie the ropes to it and just use a ceramic ring to weigh down the other end.

I used Safeguard (dewormer for dogs). Others have used Panacur liquid form. The one I bought is in powder form. It's main ingredient is fenbendazole. I used a pinch and ground it in water more as it doesn't dissolve properly. I dosed my 10g shrimp tank to kill hydra and planaria. It's been a week and haven't seen any signs of hydra nor planaria. Shrimp and snails are ok.
Here's the article about it. All credit goes to the poster. I hope posting link here is fine? Iwww.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/library/52784-planaria-hydra-elimination-shrimp-tanks.html
I didn't do water change until 3 days after I dosed my tank. No death that I know of except hydra and planaria. :D

if you turn it over around 1/2 way/ a little earlier it wont have a daringly bit you've already done dragging on your hand, a little less cumbersome and possibly less stress on plant :)

i attached my Subwassertang to spiderwood using this method, but they are Dying fast, i have lots of CO2, light and added a high Scape complete dosage, any advice you can give as to a possible cause? the temperature is 26 degrees in the tank with out a heater.

Hello Dev, co2 melted my plants when I tried it and all my tanks where the subwassertang does well is soft water with a low ph :)

Instead of hanging the rope from a suction cup, I like to make "moss" balls with a piece of styrofoam at their core, so that they float, so the rope (in your case, string of plants in my case) is weighed down on one end and floating at the other. Usually I just attach the floating balls to a weight directly, to have "magical" floating moss balls floating at different heights in the water, like floating islands

    • @Foxxyginger

Styrofoam is toxic... I wouldn't use it in your aquarium

    HI Mark
Can I ask mark is there a product for us shrimp keepers/Breader, when we buy moss or plants, we can dip to kill any pests on the plants/moss so as not to infect our tanks, disease/or snails worms ??
    that won't effect our shrimp
    Thanks Richard
