It was clear to the Jews in ancient times that when the Mashiach (Hebrew for the Messiah or the Christ- the Anointed one) comes, as per the prophecies of the Tanakh, he would first proclaim his kingdom to the Jews and then to the Gentiles. After Christ's resurrection He gave the great commission to his Apostles (including Thomas) to go out into the world and proclaim the Good News (the Gospel) to all the nations. The Latin rite and the Syro Malabar rite are the only two individual or Sui Iuris Churches within the Catholic Church which have a continuous Church history from the first century until today established by an Apostle.
    1) The traditions (handed down) of St. Thomas Christians of Kerala lay great emphasis on the origins of their faith to Thomas, the Apostle of Christ.
    2) Hymns of St. Ephrem (4th century), a beloved saint from Syria describes the martyrdom of Apostle Thomas in India. The reason for the Apostle Thomas to arrive in India was because of a Jewish community that lived on the Malabar coast. Coins recovered from Kerala strongly support the idea of a flourishing Indian trade in spices with Arabia, China, Rome, and other East Asian countries in the first century. It is reasonable to assume that Thomas started his ministry with the proclamation of the Messianic kingdom to the Jews of Malabar region and then to the natives. Early Christian writings of the third and fourth century about the missionary work in south eastern coast of India lend credence to the traditions that India had a strong Christian presence since the first century.
    3) Eusebius of Caesaria (4th century), a church historian and Bishop, wrote that Pantaneus visited India in AD 180 and he says that he found a Gospel of Matthew written in Hebrew, left with the Christians there by St. Bartholomew. St. Jerome in his writings mentions a deputation sent from India to Alexandria. This deputation requested Demetrius (127-232 AD), the bishop of Alexandria (Egypt), to send Clement of Alexandria (150 AD- 215 AD) to India. As per the traditions of the St. Thomas Christians, Thomas established seven churches in south India. Today there are above 4 million St. Thomas Christians belonging to various denominations (Syro-Malabar Catholic, Syro Malankara Catholic, Syrian Orthodox, Jacobite, Mar Thoma Church etc) in South India.
    4) The liturgy of Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church mention specifically the origin of their Church from Apostle Thomas.
    6) The St.Thomas cross in worship in Kerala is only found elsewhere in Syriac Church of Middle East.

So Jesus was a Caucasian looking Semite who preached Christianity and taught his disciples how to build churches to worship him , perform mass and also use the crucifix as a symbol.
How else can Thomas convert people to Christianity in India and build churches that have a blonde Caucasian Jesus as the deity ?

@@nextdoorpharmacyThank you, so Jesus didn't preach Christianity nor did he build any church where he will be worshipped as a diety. We can then also assume that Jesus didn't teach his disciples to build churches. So I am wondering how st Thomas within 35 yrs of Jesus's crucification converted people in India to Christianity and how he built churches to worship Jesus as the deity.
Jesus claimed to be a Messiah and some jews believed it while others didn't. Their is no precedent amongst Jews for worshipping messiahs. While that doesn't stop st Thomas from worshipping Jesus, I am still wondering what prompted St Thomas to deify Jesus in far away India.

From thorough and scholarly work most, historians have no doubt that Jesus of Nazareth was a Jew from the first century who was crucified under the Romans. This is borne from the writings of those who knew him (eye witnesses: Matthew, John, Peter, Jude, and James) or from the writings of those who heard (Paul, Mark, Luke) it from the eyewitnesses. There is a high degree of consistency between the accounts of these writings. The writings of secular historians (Pliny the Younger, Seutonius, Mara Bar Serapion, Tacitus, Lucian of Samosata, Celsus, Thallus, and Josephus and Babylonian Talmud) in the first century or in the following centuries confirm that Jesus was indeed a Jew who lived in the first century and started a new movement within Judaism and his preaching led him to be crucified under the Romans. While some writings also obliquely refer to the claim of Christ’s resurrection as well. There are embarrassing facts about the Apostles of Christ (Peter denying Jesus around Jesus' trial; the Apostles deserting Jesus when he was arrested; Apostles hiding for three days from the day of Jesus’ crucifixion, Mary Magdalene first finding the empty tomb of Jesus before them; Thomas doubting Jesus; Jesus telling the disciples after the Last supper that they would abandon him) in the New Testament that were written either by themselves or narrated by the Apostles to others who wrote about Jesus' works. If the biography of Jesus were a mere invention the Apostles would not have put embarrassing details about themselves in the biography and nor would they have invented something as humiliating as the crucifixion. Yet, the Apostles were prepared to spread the Gospel to the world, be persecuted for it and even die for it. The Apostles did not get any benefits from preaching the Gospel-monetary or Power or any other. The resurrected Christ was witnessed by 500 followers who Apostle Paul claims were still living during his time and could corroborate the claims of a resurrected Christ. Paul himself was a Jew like the early followers of Christ and a persecutor of the followers of Christ. But because of a vision of Christ, Paul became a true believer of Christ and an exemplar of Christian faith. The very same Apostles who timidly hid themselves after the trial of Christ became the torchbearers of his message because of a singular event that changed their lives and gave them an unusual courage to preach Christ’s message- the empty tomb of Christ, the appearance of Christ in flesh to them after his death, and his ascension into heaven. Even at the pain of death the Apostles travelled to distant lands to preach the arrival of the Messianic kingdom of Jesus of Nazareth to Jews and Gentiles. The Church is the living testimony of Jesus' kingdom and stands aloft in its truth. The Church today exists because of Christ’s assertion to Peter:
Matthew 16: 15: He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. 18 And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. 19 I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
