I just got here....just watched your most recent crab video. First thought I had was "wow I'm surprised they didn't die". We tried this stuff when I was young...and they always died. They go through SO much in those stores before you get them. It's such a shock to their system. HOWEVER.....
YOU are at LEAST giving them the most wonderful love, spoiling them and letting them enjoy whatever life they have left so they know at least SOMEONE cared before they move on. THAT is worth everything to them.
The tanks can be reused to rescue the next lucky creature. What you are doing is a good thing....might be the ONLY good thing that ever happens to them.

I know this is an old video but you will have to deal with this again obviously. Yes they die, animals always die. Especially ones that have been abused like the ones you got from stores. You are taking on the hardest job and making things so much harder on yourself. Even if they die after a few weeks you just have to take pleasure on the fact you gave them an amazing time up until their natural death. Instead of painful and stressfully tortured deaths they had a chance to live in a safe environment with all the food and entertainment you can provide. I can’t have anymore dogs because when they die, they hurt me too much. I cry for years, I never forget them. But somebody like you is doing amazing things and helping innocent animals have some kind of life. Keep your chin up, you are a great person.

Josh, I recently stumbled upon your channel (with your video on Waffle) and I honestly found myself tearing up when she first explored the tank. You are awesome, thank you for giving these animals another chance at life. Some of them would pass on but that's just how life goes and I'm sure they're immensely thankful for having the life you gave them. Keep doing what you do. We're all behind you!

@@protobhack5683 I can only reply to comments on RUclips but I can't post a comment. Hoping Josh can see this. The crabs in the stores may already be old but remember that they can take weeks to months to molt. They will appear totally dead. You will know it's dead if it smells bad. They won't eat prior to molting for many days. Your channel gets so many views and I think you should have more content. Not less. I like the grocery store pet idea. Wash hands well and rinse well when putting arms in your tank. I would avoid adding live food to keep tanks sterile.

Honestly? I totally understand you being devastated for any of the grocery pets, but you gave them lives that were so much better! They were in awful conditions, waiting to be eaten, and instead you gave them a new home and enrichment! If that isn't something to be happy about, I don't know what is! ❤❤❤❤

PLEASE remember that the crabs would have passed away A LOT sooner, and in a more horrible way, if it wasn't for you. You can't possibly know their age when you save them, or what they've been through. They lived longer because of you, not the opposite. Keep saving them as long as it brings you joy.

Grocery animals are doomed as soon as they hit the stores. I wouldn't judge yourself based on them. Focus on creating fun content surrounding the pets you do have, and new ones you gain. Potentially make care tutorials and such. You're doing great man keep it up!

When I take on a new creature, I say to them-
“You’ve been eaten. Now you become part of the body or you will have been just a meal. I will do my best for you and all of yours we bring.”
Kind of an explanation, apology and a promise all in one. Become part of the aquarium room or part of the compost heap.

Hey Josh, I just found your channel and went through all the grocery store pet videos - I loved every single one! You do so much work at giving these animals a loving home and your excitement and care really shows every time you interact with them. Despite the sad passings of pancake, blueberry, and probably croissant by now, you gave them a home they'd be forever grateful for and happy to have experienced - never feel bad for that reality.
Many people in the comments said its likely due to the poor conditions of their lives in grocery stores that ruined their chances of living long and I do agree with that notion. You've been doing all you can and I'm sure because of that their lives were lived to the fullest they could be at that point.
I would love to see this series continue; grocery store pets or even if you get pet store pets - I can see you giving them wonderful lives no matter where they come from. All i can say is that as long as you don't deteriorate your mental health by continuing, i hope to see you post again. We believe in you! ❤

I feel you man, losing an animal you only got to spend a short amount of time with is nothing short of demoralising and sad. You have made a very captivating series, and I can only hope you continue it because I genuinely find them a blast to watch. Your loving and caring nature is just what these animals need in their doomed lives of being captured.
By all means, do what you feel is best and don't feel forced to continue things, and I hope you get through this rough realisation soon. Either way, I'll continue watching whatever content you put out since you're an amazing person who deserves the world ❤.

In a way, I would kind of expect rescues to possibly not live very long and you are caring for creatures that usually get eaten so that kind of lowers their survival rate. The important thing is that they die happy and most of the rescues I've seen look pretty happy.

Grocery animals are prone to disease due to stress and overcrowding, even if you heal them, they can still suffer sequelae or be too weakened to survive for long. It's not your fault as an owner that's trying to revalorize their lives. It's the fault of the food industry that breeds them as a product, uncaring of their suffering. You're raising awareness about this, which is a good thing.

Without that when crabs molt their new exoskeleton is not resilient enough and ruptures that is fairly common occurrence. If you ever go back to them this might help

Wow Josh, you are such an amazing person. After watching this video and first the one with Blueberry, I couldn’t help but to comment. Please don’t stop. I hope you create a mini pond for your crab’s outdoors giving them their natural habitat feel.
Would love to see your next baby crab grow up to be an “Elderberry” crab lol😉😉💪✝️💐👍🤩🙏
    GOD BLESS👍

Hey bro! Listen, if you feel that you need a break, take one! You should keep in mind that you shouldn’t get too many pets at a time, and too many of them dying could take a toll on your mental health. I am also sorry with the pancake, blueberry, and croissant situations. With that said, you may take a break if you feel you need to. We’re all here for you ❤❤❤

Sorry to hear it.Losing an animal is really hard.I have encountered it myself too. We pet owners need to be prepared for situation where our pet gets Born or gets a new home and they die.Death is a natural part of life.We need to be prepared for that day that our Animals will encounter, but we can't overthink about it too much.I was always saying to myself that quote: ,,Don't be sad ,because over. Be happy ,because it happened"

You seem genuine and that you do care for animals. I would just say even if you make a small difference in their existence, keep it up. Sometimes it's part of caring for animals, especially exotic type animals. Some of them just aren't meant to live in captivity

You inspire young people to be creative and experimental with nature . ( It is actually important to teach people that death is part of nature and how fragile life is ) I'm 45 now , but you would have massively inspired me when i was young . Do what ever you decide , just make sure you are happy . :-)

Please don’t quit! It ain’t your fault if they die! I’ve been seeing the over comments saying it’s hard to keep these pets of yours alive and I agree! Having my own little ecosystem it’s always worrying to keep control, and hey! It’s better than letting them get boiled alive. But it is your choice so I can’t stop you but I beg please don’t quit!
