    OHMYGOD HEY!
Earlier this week I had one of the best days ever when I was asked to join the cast and characters of the new WINNIE THE POOH musical for a day of themed activities and press opportunities in the actual inspiration for the 100 Acre Wood, Ashdown Forest.
The show opens at London's Riverside Studios in March before embarking on a UK Tour and stars Jake Bazel, reprising his rope as Winnie the Pooh.
Check out today's adorable new vlog to find out what we got up to and get a sneak peak of these fantastic characters!

This reminds me of a Disney channel show from the 80s/90s called Welcome to Pooh Corner where the characters were all puppets and people dressed in mascot type costumes. Does anyone else remember this?! I LOVED it as a small child. These puppets are gorgeous. What a magical day!

Since you're going to NYC in March - the New York Public Library (Bryant Park) has the original Pooh bear (along with Tigger, Kanga, Piglet, and Eeyore. Sadly Roo is missing ) in their collection that you can visit for free at their Polonsky Exhibition :)

Little Roo got lost at the orange grove at the Milne Estate in Sussex. Also, Piglet had to be rebuilt somewhat because his face got chewed upon by a neighbor's dog (reminds me of the "Pooh Day Afternoon" episode of _New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh_ since that episode has CR taking care of a neighbor's dog & Piglet keeps worrying that the dog was trying to eat him, since the dog kept knocking him over & repeatedly licking his face).

I couldn't quite make them out earlier, but when I saw Kanga and Roo in the hotel, I burst into tears. Good tears. There is something so amazingly motherly about Kanga (well, doh, she IS a mum). But I LOVE the pairing! And then when you guys discusses the different characters at the end... yip.... tears! Oh, Mickey, I'm so incredibly jealous. Funnily enough, I didn't think I would be, but this was Super FAB!!!

I almost went to the Chicago limited run last May, but I was too busy with work and adult stuff. Now I'm kicking myself that I didn't take time out for my main boy Pooh.
When I say I'm a Pooh stan, I mean that, until I started school, I watched "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" on repeat 3-5 times per day. Mind you, I'm a '95 baby, so my parents had to rewind the VHS every time the movie ended or I'd have a meltdown. Winnie the Pooh means everything to me, and it's my life's mission to get to the Hundred-Acre Wood

This was the most enjoyable MJT trips ever!! I love all your theatre excursions but seeing all the Winnie the Pooh characters, the Ashdown forest, Pooh sticks bridge etc. was simply delightful! I teared up when all the characters appeared, especially Tigger and Eeyore! OMG 😍! I then fell down the "Google" rabbit hole to learn all about AA Milne and the real Christopher Robin. (That turned out to be pretty sad). But it also made the forest and everything there more real. Now I want to visit! BTW, while you are in NYC you can see Christophers original Tigger, Eeyore, Winnie and Kanga (Roo was lost when Christopher was 9 years old) at the NYC public library. Childrens section inside the 42nd street entrance. About two blocks from TIME SQUARE! 🙂

Although I'm always I'm amazed at puppetry, that musical looks like it's too targeted at kids and toddlers, as if it was yo gaba gaba the musical (no such thing).
Disney's Broadway musicals have always been aimed at families and adults by creating amazing costumes. The Lion King outfits, for example, used mostly human costumes to represent characters, except Zazu who was a puppet. However, it seemed very mature building costumes that night be worn by Africans or native peoples of South America or the Aborigines. For example, the big lion heads represent the characters but also look like a ceremonial head piece. Even in The Little Mermaid musical, it seemed refined by building the Ursula costume onto the actor using hair, makeup, and a regular dress, instead of making fluffy little tentacles that might come off as too campy. And on the original Broadway version, they were on skates, but only on Broadway-- no road tours did this. And the Beast's head for the original Broadway version just made a wig and some horns, instead of making something that looked goofy like a big blow up head that looks like the animated character, suchlike Beauty and The Beast on ice. And Frozen has had incredible staging and A+++ costumes without any campiness. Yes, Sven's costune was a puppet but peformers were in the puppet to mske it come to life. But the actors playing Sven that made him come to life kind of reminded me if how Chinese lion dance costumes work where one person holds the head and people behind them are the body. But Sven's costume wasn't campy nor kidd-ish.
Do you get my point? All these past Broadway Disney musicals have shed away from campiness and looking too juvenile. This Winnie The Pooh musical looks like 2 steps backward. It loos like it is aimed at toddlers and even people who love musicals like me, including Starlight Express, may be scared thinking "Did I just attend the first ever professional west end/ Broadway show aimed at pre-schoolers?"
