    This is one of the most concise, easy to understand tutorials on Revit I've ever experienced. Just the right speed; easy to understand your voice; everything I need to do what I have to do. Thank you so much!!

    • @ckruse

      You should create it in the direction you want - so if the item is upright, when creating it, use an elevation view (front, back etc.)

    Cindy... your instructions are very helpful.. Im a brand new revit user, self learning. how can I find out how to extrude a like your first example, but set an an angle... not horizontal or vertical. can you direct me to a solution?

    • @ckruse
      @ckruse  7 лет назад

      You cannot extrude at an angle. You could do a sweep - have a shape follow a line you draw. Or you can do a blend - for example you can place a square at the base and a square for the top two feet apart and they would blend at an angle - hope that helps. - good luck!

    I want to place a special fascia onto a roof edge. I have created a sweep (thank you very much) but I can't figure out how to apply it to the edge, It seems like it should go in as a fascia, but I can't seem to make a 'fascia' model, just a generic model. or I should??????

    How about a water slide at a water fun park.......possible to do this from a point cloud and then use your methods?

    • @ckruse
      @ckruse  10 лет назад

      You could use the point cloud to create a mass and then apply a surface to the mass - a material with some thickness. This is the only way you can create forms that have any kind of Helix properties - like a water slide would. - So using a Mass Family

    Is it possible to modify the sweep path once created?

    • @ckruse

      Yes - just select the sweep and redraw whichever item you need to change - you can even stretch the path in place if you just need to go a bit longer

    • @ckruse
      @ckruse  4 года назад +1

      if the path has 3/4 radius and 3/4 corners Revit thinks the sweep will run into itself so it will not make it - if you try making the corners larger it will work

      thank you

    • @soukikmnv4594
      @soukikmnv4594 10 лет назад

      I'm coppy from www.Autodesk revit website can u show video how to do
      = " Cutting with voids in families when loaded "
      You can cut objects in a project when a family with unattached voids is loaded. Objects that can be cut include: Walls, Floors, Roofs, Ceilings, and Structural Framing, Structural Columns, Structural Foundations, and Generic Models.
      To enable this, open the Revit family with unattached voids and click Create tab Properties panel Family Category and Parameters.
      In the Family Category and Parameters dialog Select Cut With Voids when Loaded and click OK.
      Load the family into the project and place it.
      Click Modify tabGeometry panelCut drop-down (Cut Geometry).
      Select the object to be cut.
      Select the instance with which to cut.
      Note: If the instance has several unattached voids, all of them will participate in cutting.

    • @ckruse
      @ckruse  10 лет назад

      souki kmnv I sent you a screen shot in google hang out of what you need to change in the family for it to void in the project.
      Just create a swept blend void or whatever kind of void you want to create, under the family parameters - click on the "cuts with voids"
      load into the project and place the component like normal
      then on the modify panel select "cut"
      click on the thing you want to cut and then the void you want to cut with.
      I will try to make a video - but hopefully this helps in the meantime.
