Such an underrated drummer. Seriously. This is some of the coolest, most complex, grooviest stuff I've seen.
I love how dynamic and human his playing is. Much more musical to me.

awesome technique, nice flow - that's what I call drumming. It's really nice to see that there are still some metal drummers that don't only rely on blasts and heavy doublebass-strokes

man... it's so hard for me to catch that shit he does at the begining... I separately understand the kick, the snare, the ride. get all together, I miss every hit lol
4/4 beat. Ride is playing 6:4 poly, snare accents beat 3, kick is introductory riff which has triplets sprinkled on beats 1 and 3.

you know its crazy hard when you see guys like this counting aswell as probably having a metronome. of course counting is a great habit to have whether or not you are playing hard music, but yeah stef is a god

Yea it's pretty much as hard as it get's. If you put the bell and the bassdrum in notes on paper, you can see that they are not in line. not a single bit. my drum teacher explained to me that is kind of 2 different "drum worlds" that aren't meant to be played together. haha

the ride pattern is a quarter note triplet over 4 sixteenth notes
@Rougarou13 also I never trashed the 4/4 just pointed out that people never really complain about it. Most of the people who bash blasting are fans of rock, jazz, and all of these styles do the exact same thing, but get almost no shit for it.

We can actually hear the ghostnotes here, much better than on the album.
They look like Evans EC2 to me. Anything out of the EC series, at least. They all have that sound control thingy around the edge.
Yeah I noticed that as well, loved it, bit more organic vibe. But I'm a ghost-note addict...

@felixj401 It's not that odd in itself. Triplets ;) But since the other parts (snare/bass drum) are not triplets, we have this fun polyrhythmic thing going on.

um those "things on the ride" r called polyrythms they add more dynamics to the song. its also called being unique not everyone wants hear the same old ride pattern. its played like that for a reason hence the band name TEXTURES

@Rougarou13 But like I said music is subjective so you can feel however you want by it, but I wouldn't jump on the bandwagon and just judge all these drummers becuase they play what many beleive is a key part of their specific musics style.

Over the last decade metal has pumped out a plethora of creative, ambitious, and technical groove driven drummers to diversify the field of metal drums to the max. Poke your head around some of the mixed metal scenes such as funk metal or progressive, you will probably be pleasantly surprised.

@SuloFlow again, I was referring to what I have seen on sickdrummerdotcom. WAY TO READ. And no I'm not a troll. I love drums and I love being a drummer, I just get sick of kick snare kick snare kick snare kick snare kick snare as fast as you can to show that your some kind of insanely skilled drummer (Which is the exact opposite). Theres a lot of options on the drums, just a lot of the videos on here don't show them.
