    Apparently I was unclear on my position concerning Benchmade knives because several people have expressed their dismay that I would feel that way. I am not in any way trying to influence anyone to boycott anything, just stating my personal position.
    If you like Benchmade that's cool. I think they make great knives. As I have said before, my issue was really when I learned the ownership are large supporters of democratic party politicians. So I choose not to indirectly fund that support since my party affiliation is decidedly "anti-democrat".
    I also had a few comments about Big Daddy Unlimited being involved in a gun buyback by showing up and offering free gun safety locks. And, to be clear, I think their explanation that they just wanted to showcase the gun industry in a positive light may have been true, but it was still a really bad decision in hindsight. But, the MAJOR difference to me is that I have met the owners and management at Big Daddy Unlimited and they are 100% pro-gun, pro-2nd Amendment and pro-freedom.
    Having said that, I know there are probably a lot of other things I use (like my cellphone or my cell service provider) who support causes I disagree with. I get that. But you have to pick your battles. There are a LOT of other good knife companies so I can pick that battle pretty easily.

      There's no shortage of guns for sale. Anyone that wants to buy one can. It is a slippery slope when law enforcement starts selling confiscated property for a profit. Before you know it, some small town needs a new cruiser and they start pulling over BMW's and Lexus and confiscating them., while they let the Chevy's and Toyotas keep on criming. Will I be more likely to get arrested if I wear a Rolex instead of a Timex ? The conflict of interest/optics problems with the police profitting from their booty is bad all around. This isn't a gun control issue, its a political integrity problem. Benchmade didn't do anything wrong.

    Those are all great choices for a folding knife. One suggestion, on the Pocket Bushman (which I like very much) the cord can wear through and break when it is used a lot. I replaced the cord with a large split ring for keys and it will not break and is actually easier to use than the cord. The blade will take and hold a razor edge and the all-steel construction makes it one of the sturdiest folding knives you can buy.

    So a knife company allowed law enforcement to destroy guns from unknown sources instead of selling them ? I'm a veteran and gun owner and would like to say thanks to Benchmade for keeping them off the streets I think I'll go order that new Tagout they just introduced to go along with the other 20 knives I have from them

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  2 года назад

      Not sure what you mean by "unknown sources". They are just guns. As for "keeping them off the streets", if they had been offered for sale it would had to have been through a standard legal process with a background check. So there would be no difference between those guns and any other sold. If you like Benchmade that's cool. I think they make great knives. As I have said before, my issues was really when I learned the ownership are large supporters of democratic party politicians. So I choose not to indirectly fund that support since my party affiliation is decidedly "anti-democrat".

      They deserve everything they get. And to your statement about them doing “damage control” I recall it a bit different. Instead of apologizing or clarifying, they instead doubled down on their horrible stance. Their version of damage control was pouring gasoline on a fire. You said it: tone deaf. And you said it, and Bob said it here: lots of other great knives from great manufacturers that don’t play politics.

    🤷🏻‍♂️. One more comment. The local enforcement organization came to a local manufacturer and asked to use their equipment to destroy items confiscated from criminals. The local manufacturer agreed.
    It seems remarkably silly to punish that local manufacturer for this. Hard to believe we have reached the point where we get our shorts in twist over this.
    This act in no way signifies that either the local law enforcement organization or the local manufacturer are opposed to any portion of the U.S. Constitution.

      I should have been clearer in my reasoning but I didn’t want to spend a bunch of time on it in the video. The real reason for my Position on Benchmade Is that one of the things that came out of that situation was the discoveries at the owners of Benchmade are major contributors two liberal democratic politicians. So my shorts are not in a twist but neither is my wallet

      @@SurvivalOnPurpose The main beauty of America is that everyone is allowed to support the position of their choice and that we all respect that right.
      When I look at a product my interest is will it do the job I need it to do, is it a quality made product, and can I afford it. The politics of the manufacturer’s owner or management never factor into my purchasing decision as long as they are not supporting immoral or illegal activities.
      Benchmade is located in a very liberal state it is not surprising they support some liberal causes.

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose

      I have looked into that issue with BDU. I wouldn’t say they “supported” a (as in one) gun buyback as much as made a really stupid decision to try to somehow possibly get some positive publicity for a pro gun business (my take on it, not theirs). But, as I have said in other comments (and should have said in the video), my issue with Benchmade is more with the discovery that the owners are huge political supporters of liberal Democrats. I know that is not the case for the owners of Big Daddy Unlimited. And that makes all the difference to me. I’m sorry if you like Benchmade. As I said, I think they make excellent knives. Bryan, tell the REST of the Benchmade story. Destroying guns caught the initial attention, but Benchmade swore it was court ordered and they only helped the cops do what a court had ordered. But some of the guntubers attracted by this fuss started digging, and the REAL story was how many anti-gun politicians received substantial donations from Benchmade. Thet 940 may be a great knife, but I’ll stick with the Al Mar SERE2000 I’ve carried more most of two decades.
