For the record, the video version of the song "Control" is not the album version. They recorded a mock live version for the mock live video performance. Also, Janet is the Queen of Pop. Period.
Her previous albums were made when she was a teen. She didn't want to be a singer. She was known primarily as a child actress. Her father said you will sing. The children did what Joseph said. Janet had zero input in the music. They just hired random producers and they gave Janet random songs to sing. Janet was not a superstar. And some, not all, the producers admittedly did not bring their A-game. Like, who was Michael's little sister? The singles, for the most part did fine on the R&B charts but sales were modest and there was no promotion to crossover to the pop side. 'Control' was Janet's 'Thriller' and nobody saw it or her coming. She and Michael changed the game for all that followed.

In the show GOOD TIMES janet dubois played Janet's adopted mother. Also those guys in the suits in the beginning of the video is Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who produced her first album. They grew up and worked with Prince.

This song was very autobiographical, about her own independance and also all the changes of her personal life during 1985 and 1986. She have a new manager (she dropped her father of her management), new producers (the duet Jam and Lewis produced the whole album) and also she have her sound. And she turned more in a RnB.
This video of her on stage reminds me so much of Jungle Love by Morris Day and The Time. You would have a blast reacting to that video.

Morris Day and Prince creation. Saying that to mean this is a Minneapolis Stage Show. You will also see that in the movie Purple Rain.

The first two albums were considered bubblegum pop! Which she really didn’t want to do her father made her do those two albums. Janet never really wanted to be a singer.

You just HAVE TO DO the album review of Janet Jackson's first album called JANET JACKSON [1982] it's the one with young love on it. She was 15 or 16 when it was released. I think you would get a kick out of listening to it,i'm telling you you won't be disappointed and you would hear the difference between that and control. [FYI] Because Janet's first two albums wasn't as popular when they came out [Her second album was called DREAM STREET{1984}] years later and i'm talking about late 80's early 90's if you tried to order those albums from the record store ,people would say that she didn't have any albums before control . I mean you would really have a hard ass time convincing people that those albums existed ! Those who know, knows what i'm saying is true.
Good stuff! You should react to her single from last year with Daddy Yankee, "Made For Now". The track is hot and the video is fire.
